2017 Draft Prospect Thread

Billy Brown of Div II Shepherd is a name I've heard about a couple of times today. He's a 6-5, 250lb WR projected to play TE in the NFL. He's reportedly a 4.5/4.6 guy.

Tape is decent although he looks to be quite the project if he does get turned into a TE. As a 6/7 round guy though?

The Rams got demoted to college D2? About damn time.

I want more explosive athleticism out of my 1st-round pick (even the last one of the 1st round) if he isn't an OLman or DT (or QB).
I would be OK with Anderson…at 64…if Hightower leaves...

Fair enough. I agree that there are other directions I'd rather go in the 1st. Most sites I've seen have Anderson ranked somewhere between 60 - 90 on their big boards, however. At least one draft I've seen has the Patriots picking him at 96. Depending on how the draft falls, there's a good shot that he could be available at 64. He's a tough, versatile player who could play a solid role in our LB corp.

Shepherd is close to Washington and I have been to the campus. They are a Division II power and win their conference every year. I think they could hardly do worse in the NFL than their namesake LA Rams.

I would take Anderson at #64 in a heartbeat. Versatile enough to play de or olb, decent pass rusher, good at setting the edge, decent tackler, and can cover a little. Reminds me of nickivich with his play.

Ive been looking at mock drafts just for fun and I keep seeing tim williams mocked to us. Now i havent been able to watch any of his tape but what do you guys think of him as a prospect. Because a lot of them are saying he is a top 10 talent if not for the off field issues.

That's pretty poetic.

How much better can anderson actually get. Give me one Saban player who got taken after the first round, who turned into a good player. I can give you one. Landon Collins. 33rd pick.

If you think right now hes a ready and can come in amd start and be productive thats one thing. But I caution against trying to develop Alabama players, Because they are already doing pro things defensively, more so than every other players on other teams

I think he stinks

With Blount getting a little long in the tooth, do we have a RB on our radar?

Is Joe Mixon on our radar or is it too much of a PR poopstorm to take him? Dude looks crazy good.

Ehhhhh, it's a tricky situation. He's undoubtedly talented, but the video is simply insurmountable for a lot of people. We discussed it in this thread a while ago, and tempers flared, mine included -- mea culpa. I'll let someone pick up the discussion next time.

I hate to "go there" but he looks like he could be something special. The video looks ugly, but he was an 18 year old who overreacted to being pushed, not a fully grown adult who beat up his wife for not doing the dishes or something stupid like that. If he's available late in the draft and if he interviews okay, maybe he deserves a shot?

Not going to happen. Ever. Kraft made it clear that domestic violence is a big no. And if you trust Jeremiah then there is only a handful teams in the NFL that didn't remove him yet from their board.

I think we have to determent first, what team/-s have a Coach/GM in place to get away by picking him.
After that, then we have to determent his "risk/reward" value.

I know we can't do this 100% - But thats first step to even drafting Joe Mixon

Last thing I'll say on this before I move on, but I hate calling that video domestic violence, which is: "violent or aggressive behavior within the home, typically involving the violent abuse of a spouse or partner." To me, calling a stupid fight between immature teenagers "domestic violence" really diminishes the seriousness and abhorrent nature of DV.

It's not domestic violence. It looks more like dumb kid stuff. Almost all kids do dumb things. Granted, this is violence and you need to be careful about stuff like that, but I disagree that this one incident makes him irredeemable. As long as we can keep him on a short leash and can cut ties at the first sign of trouble, why not give him a chance?

You can try to rationalzie away as much as you want, under the current regime there won't be anyone on the team that has anything to do with violence against women.

Agree with it or disagree all you want, it won't happen.

I should have written violence against women. And I don't see it as relaxed as you suggest. He should be aware that he is physically not even in the same stratosphere as the girl he hit. I don't need to be over 20 years to know that.
