Daboll interviewing for Bama OC

Lets look what Mcdaniels gave up to stay here so far.
Matt Ryan and Julio Jones and Davonta Freeman
A complete challenge with a storied franchise with San Fran
High picks and Hyde flush with cap space.
Jacksonville Jaguars with alot of weapons on offense
LA Rams with a 1st overall blue chip QB and a huge market with alot of picks and cap space.

So which job is he holding out for Indy to Revive Luck?
Tenn to test drive Mariota
Detroit to fix Staffords mistakes and live in Detroit?
Green Bay is the only slot that makes sense if it comes available. Aaron Rodgers and a storied franchise.

Heres the bottom line.
His family loves the area he loves the Owners and Brady.
As long as Brady is here so will Josh
My guess when BB leaves Brady leaves.
Then Josh will make the decision best for his career.
This would be the reason Daboll is looking to move on Josh is entrenched.

McDaniels choosing to stay in NE must be linked to this rumor. Daboll would have been a likely candidate for OC under Belichick if Josh left.

If he's ready for the next step, good for him. If Josh leaves for a HC job, no reason why BB couldn't tap Daboll and pull him back into the fold with a year or two of OC experience at Alabama. Better that than going stale waiting for new roles to open up in Foxboro.
Perhaps with the potential offers to Josh, Daboll was informed he would not be next in line, and that is why he is leaving.

I missed him getting offered all of those jobs.

If we find out this is true, and that Josh sticking around is the only thing that kept Daboll from becoming the O.C., it will be just one more reason to like McDaniels.

I wouldn't read too much into that in terms of McDaniels. Bama OC is a great opportunity and also most probably better paid position.

This seems like a no-brainer for him. Look at his history:

He starts out as a graduate assistant working for Saban. Then he works for the Patriots from 2000-2006, learning from the best pro football coach in the game. Then he strikes out on his own, and is OC for the Browns, Dolphins, and KC from 2007-2012, and he doesn't really light the world on fire at any of those places. Then, back to school with the Patriots from 2013-2017, another stint with the best pro football coach in the game, but as a TE coach instead of a OC, a major step down from his previous positions.

Now he becomes OC for Alabama under Saban, the best college football coach in the game and the guy he started out with. Talk about burnishing up your resume! A year or two as Alabama OC, maybe a national championship. Seems to me like he would be pretty hot property for either college or the pros after that with his experience under BB and Saban, no? I could see many teams interested, maybe even the Pats at some point down the road.

Don't know much about Daboll. Why are we happy at the prospect of him leaving? Is he bad?

As a pro-level OC? He's awful. Maybe working under Saban will be exactly what he needs.

Hes no Mcdaniels.
I agree whats Godseys plan.

No, he's not bad. In fact, he's very good. But, as we all know, as soon as someone has the audacity to leave here, be it a player, coach, executive or anything else, all of a sudden that person sucked at her/his job. As if Belichick hires idiots and keeps them employed for years as he did with Daboll.

Congrats to Daboll, who will be going to college with 5 SB rings.

I think its more that people were unimpressed with his body of work as an OC and didnt care for the idea that hr might become the patriots OC of josh left

Don't really understand the negativity here from some folks. This is a major promotion for him. Well deserved and good luck to him!

I agree he did nothing special elsewhere but he never had a good QB. If we use that same logic we must hope Josh never becomes HC here.

Did I miss the memo where it says he cannot come back if McDaniels leaves??

Nice opportunity for Daboll, stays in the Patriots "pipeline"... have always felt that McDaniels is heir apparent to BB.

He has been terrible with 3 teams as an OC. I have been saying this all along so stop with the dancing on the grave crap.
Belichick hires and retains many coaches who are not capable of being good coordinators.

Screw off...I wasn't communicating with you. By choice.

Good luck to Daboll. He will be paid well.

I think Daboll is a good coach but hes not a rock star coordinator.

While he was short on talent in MIA, KC and CLE his creativity had a lot to be desired.

If he had taken over here, my fear was he would have held this offense back.
