OT: Darrelle Revis Injured - Charged with Multiple Criminal Counts

Bet the Jets are wondering where all that fight was against A.J. Green, Sammy Watkins, Deandre Hopkins, Malcolm Mitchell, Amari Cooper... did I miss anyone. Lol

As the saying among athletes generally goes, nothing good happens after midnight? Guys like talking **** to celebrities for some reason, especially athletes.

After investigation into said incident, Commissioner Goodell has determined that Tom Brady is more likely than not responsible for said incident.

At least the Jets fans can relish in the fact that they stole Revis from the Patriots. Of course, they have to wallow in the fact that they stole Revis from the Patriots.

Revis has been charged with felony assault and robbery.

I'm leaning toward guilty, anytime Revis doesn't get what he asks for it becomes an issue.

I'm sure the Jet-lined offices at 345 Park Avenue would like to aid in any effort to do just that. The NFLPA isn't about to let that happen though. Maybe Roger will invoke Article 46 on behalf of the Jets, who knows.

If for some reason they are unable to weasel their way out of the contract, the Jets have a decision to make very soon. Revis is due a non-guaranteed $2 million roster bonus to be paid on the 2nd day of the league year. They can get out of that by cutting him before then, but would then eat $6 million in dead cap money for the portion of his 2017 salary that is guaranteed.
No doubt the NFL would provide some dead money relief to the Jets if he can't play because he's in jail, just like they did for the Pats with Hernan... Oh nvm.

You'd know being in Pitt, Sup. Is this true?

Just my humble opinion from my education more than living in Pittsburgh, but here goes (whatever it may be worth to you).

Sure, technically it is true, but rarely do the terms "misdemeanor" and "jail time" go together, let alone 5 years worth. Wallach is really stretching things, although he's technically correct regarding the extreme end of the sentencing spectrum. Obviously, Revis is not a repeat offender with an extensive criminal record, so that does not pertain to him.

Revis and his attorney will be much more concerned with the aggravated assault charges. Even the robbery isn't likely to stick in my opinion, let alone the misdemeanor threat charge.

Theyre just stacking the charges, chances are this gets settled out of court with the aggravated assault charges lowered to a misdemeanor.

This screams of a 4 game suspension, but at this point in time will that actually benefit the NYJFL moreso than hurt them? Assuming his contract isn't voided because of this incident.

Are you unsure of the term? It may sound serious, but it's basically nothing more than a throw away. You can charge someone with terroristic threats in just about every single altercation (at least here in PA), with many coming from domestic violence cases. It's basically threatening a person in some capacity and it isn't terribly easy to prove in court.

The serious potential charges here are robbery (for grabbing the phone...sigh) and the aggravated assault, but I'd be shocked if Revis was charged with either one of those. Now his bodyguard on the other hand....

'Ya gotta have a fall guy'

I wonder if the cops or internet got the video off the phone

Depends on what team he is on when the league gets to rule on a potential suspension.

I'm starting to think they are able to see and hear something on the phone video that puts Revis in a pretty bad light. If, for example, there is something on there that shows him intimidating someone in an attempt to gain their personal possessions (phone), it could certainly help to explain their decision to charge him with robbery.

Normally, I'm pretty skeptical about the seriousness of the charge, particularly with the hometown hero gift the prosecution often gives to its local athletes, but it would seem odd to have serious charges thrown to the side again, especially after last month's Joey Porter situation. He was initially charged with aggravated assault, too, but the DA changed his mind within days. I'm guessing that an extra moment of caution may have been given here. Just a hunch.

I'm also wondering if the fact that there are 2 victims may force the DA to reject most, or even any, plea deals, like in the Dennard case. That could drastically reduce the chances of seeing a plea agreement to a lesser charge; for example, simple assault. I'm sure there are plenty of instances where proper victim compensation and fame status would get you a decent shot with a slap on the wrist, so it will be interesting to see whether that is true here or not. Again, the fact that it's 2 victims does not help his cause in any way.

Ultimately, their video from the phone which identifies Revis and the eyewitness testimony they have from any bystanders (and the cop who claims that he saw him right before the incident) will help to show how far off the deep end Revis actually went.

'Ya gotta have a fall guy'
That's a very good point, though.

When I first heard the news I just assumed that it was one of Revis' boys, because he's known to have a bit of a crew. One would assume that in that crew, someone would be carrying a weapon or play the role of "bodyguard."

Arghh, the contrast and the optics for Revis is not good. But he got paid though.
