You get that Ryan got demoted at one point, right?

No, your comment wasn't completely appropriate.
I'm well aware Ryan has had his struggles, just like every other football player that has played in this league. Sometimes it takes a demotion, benching, or some other type of coaching intervention to get a guy to play to his potential. Looking at his full body of work over the past two years, he's a good #2 CB. Lots of metrics and analyst's agree with me.

Again, I'd be curious to hear your listing of good #2 CBs.

There is arguably the best safety class for a long time so hopefully his value to others will be diminished. I've liked Harmon from the start so I'll be very happy if he stays.
Enough with safeties. Drafted plenty of them, Harmon 3rd, Tavon Wilson 2rd, Jordan Richards 2rd. If there is no Thomas IV, or Mccourty II, no need for safety.

Bennett is gone. He's already talking about how teams over pay SB Champs. See ya!

Not that it means anything .. but people are reading too much in his words he throws here and there. He's just enjoying the moments. Like here for example. Does this means he stays then?

One thing one might consider is his #1-3 priority (family-football-agency) is promoting his books, his imagination agency and his ideas. Besides contract money and competitiveness of the team .. business environment and community will play a part as well in deciding his future designation. Possibly he wants to make his mark in other communities like he did here in 1 yr. And Oakland f.e. is not too far from the Dream Factory..

I think this is yet another example of Belichick placing high value on special teams only players, as STs is obviously a huge part of the game. It's also how I knew that a guy like Mingo wasn't going to be benched for a 5th WR like Floyd.

In terms of drafting safeties, yes--the team will need to address the position if Harmon leaves. We need someone behind DMcC and Chung, and Richards does not appear to be that guy.

Considering we play three safeties a bunch, if Harmon doesn't come back, I respectfully disagree. Especially when you take into account just how good this safety draft class is.

Next season DMC will be 31, Chung 30, Harmon gone, Richards (hopefully) gone. We need at least 2 fresh safeties.

Don't necessarily disagree, but safeties tend to have longer careers than other defensive players.

Agreed, but DMC and Chung could groom rookies, passing the torch and stuff. Especially given the hype surrounding this class. Wilson and Richards were duds but Belichick chose them because he generally likes to draft safeties and thought he could find proverbial "diamond in the rough". It just did not work out.

I would hope Hightower can be signed to a long term deal. If he is, id franchise bennett. If it really comes down to franchising ht, let bennett walk.

Long and Branch should be able to be brought back on reasonable short term deals.

Sheard, and Harmon, depends on what they are looking for, not to confident in paying them what theyll get elsewhere. replace through fa/draft unless richards can step in at s3.

Ryan is gone IMO, he's going to get a great deal somewhere I bet. Gonna be a big loss unless Cyrus Jones takes a 2nd year leap and become a cb3 or someone through draft/fa.

Blount I am not a whole lot worried about, if he can be had on a similar deal bring him back in. If hes looking to cash in off the good regular season, replace him.

Good to see that the author of said book cannot differentiate between "its" and "it's."

I remember having that issue back in first or second grade.
What do you dislike about this comment @rochrist? Was I too hard on Bennett? Lol. I always crack up with some of these "authors" of books. They could pretty much skip right past the writing portion and move on to the editing.

DMC still has wheels. Might still be one fastest Safeties in the NFL. I think he plays well into his mid-30s.

He has 3 seasons left on his contract and I don't see him going anywhere.

What would you offer floyd to come back for one year?

I don't know if he would take that. I would love to have that physical wr to go with gronk next year when he comes back. We have edelman and hogan and mitchell.

Good safety play is maybe the most important ingredient that makes our secondary work. DMac and Chung will both be 30 when the next season starts. And Richards is a big question mark until he proves otherwise.

Unless Harmon gets extended safety definitely is something to look at in this draft.

Ryan and Harmon are likely to be wildly overpaid, and playing elsewhere next season, and Bennett seems as if he's going to chase down that last dollar. If you're a fan of theirs, consider them gone and you can be pleasantly surprised if they stick around.

Hightower will (I think) be franchised, if that's necessary to keep him.
Butler's not going anywhere, unless someone signs him to an insane offer sheet.
The problem with franchising Hightower is that there is that they don't make any distinction between OLB's and ILB's. OLB's like Von Miller have increased the LB franchise tag to over 14MM currently. Next year it will will likely be over 15MM. The peak of the ILB market is Luke Keckely (sp?) at 12MM. Hightower's fair market price should be just below that.

So I don't think franchising Hightower is a smart move UNLESS you use it just to give you more time to complete the LT deal. I don't see Hightower playing the year under a franchise tag.
