Offseason Free Agents thread....

Countering the Bennett tweet saying he's gone, someone just asked him how the duck boat parade was and he says he wants to do it again.

I don't put any stock in either quote. Think it's 50 50 he's back.

You're overrating just as he's underrating, so "learn the game" is probably not where you should be going with this.
So Ryan isn't a very good #2? I'd be curious to hear your listing of good #2 CBs.

He's harped on Ryan incessantly for the past 3 years. My comment was completely appropriate.

You get that Ryan got demoted at one point, right?

No, your comment wasn't completely appropriate.

I would pay $6m a year for Ryan on a 3 year contract to bring him back. He's not the greatest ever but he's solid and he makes plays from time to time. Rather have him than have to depend on Cyrus improving, even if I do like Cyrus' upside.

Butler deserves like $10m a year, I think. $12 sounds a little high. Am I off base? He's an amazing player but isn't really a ball hawk and he's short. If BB thinks he deserves more then I'm good with it, love the kid, but I would set my expectations at $10m a year for around 4 years right now.

Give HT the Collins deal. He's excellent in every way that a LB can be, and he's the leader on D. He does everything right. He makes Super Bowl heroic plays twice in 3 years with a bad shoulder both times. He deserves top end money.

50/50 on Bennett. Would love to keep him. If he will take $7m a year then awesome, but doubt he will. He's an interesting guy though so he may surprise us.

Floyd will come back in my opinion for one year. Makes way too much sense for both parties to sign him around $5m for one season with incentives. I hope Danny takes a pay cut yet again. I honestly expect he will.

I want Long back. Branch is a need IMO. Harmon is probably gone unless he takes a decent discount. I don't foresee Sheard returning but could be wrong there too. Want Nink back too.. and Blount for one more year... Develin is a must... too many free agents!!

Edit: oh, and in my opinion, some cap space needs to be reserved to give Edelman a raise. He has severely outplayed his contract. Extend him a couple years too.

Don't think any of the guys highlighted get that per year. Long was on a $1mil contract and can't imagine the Pats paying him more than double what he made this year with another year of tread on his tires.

Branch has been great, but doubt he gets that much. If he does, won't be upset about it.

Blount IMO is not worth that much...i know he had an absurd amount of TD's, but that was without Lewis for 3/4 of the year, the offense giving him a lot of gimme's, and he's on the wrong side of 30. He kind of faded down the stretch and as others mentioned, certainly missed a few open holes in the playoffs.

Floyd graded out as something like the 92nd WR out of 110 qualifies (ballparking, can't find source), was inactive for the playoffs, AND has a huge legal issue hanging over his head. No way the Pats give him that much unless it's over 2 or 3 years. For reference, Edelman is still playing on a 4 year, $17 mil contract with only $8 mil guaranteed.
Yeah, well Lewis has been a shadow of what he was. Maybe that will change next year, but also, maybe he gets hurt again.

Look at Jeffrey from Chicago as a free agent.
Jeffrey is one of the top WRs in the league. I don't see them paying 14m dollars a year for him (the value likely wouldn't be there due to the number of targets), but that's one signing that would make us all very excited.

Not sure how accurate this report is, but I was surprised when to read that teams didn't think JG was worth a 1st round pick.

"There has been talk that the New England Patriots are seeking a first-round pick for backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo, but in surveying teams around the league, they don't think Garoppolo is worthy of that price tag." - Charlie Campbell, WalterFootball.com
Two general managers think Garoppolo is worth a third-round pick, so he'll probably fetch a second-rounder.
What?!! You mean we shouldn't be talking about multiple first rounders anymore?

Ryan has been (especially this season) much more important than some give him credit for. He is also infuriating to watch at times. Is it his fault ? Are they putting him in tough spots and "hoping to get away w it" ?

Either way, I think there is another team that will offer him good money & I suspect that good money > what BB wants to allocate. I think he's gone. I still hope for Harmon. Though he is another guy a team might overpay for - hoping to get the "Patriot leadership".

Bennett can go. So can Blount. Let's see what other vets who are tired of losing want to play "cheap" & win. They are the intriguing ones.

cowboys are interested in AP. With him and Elliot that would be a deadly backfield combo.
Why pay as much as that would cost to take snaps away from Elliot. That's dumb.

It would be completely asinine.

With the expected cap space that will come from parting ways with Romo, they'll almost certainly address the defensive side of the ball.

They are headed back to 8-8ville

If Ryan gets crazy corner money like Maxwell and the other slugs that teams have overpaid for he is gone. If his pricetag is reasonable, I think BB pays it.
Harmon, I think has to leave. He will be a #1 safety for someone but is stuck as #3 here. No player should pass up that opportunity. Too bad because I think he is a guy who would give a healthy home town discount to stay for the same role.

What about Duron Harmon?

What kind of money will it take to keep him? He's 26, a decent backup to McCourty and I'm not sure if I'm comfortable with Jordan Richards filling his shoes.

If Cyrus Jones is coached up, maybe losing Logan Ryan wouldn't be such a big deal.

What do you expect them to say? "Boy, the year's QB draft prospects are trash so if we don't trade the farm for Jimmy G we're screwed!" If I was in their shoes, I'd leak this sort of thing too.

Regarding the AP to Dallas speculation.....no way they bring in any "name" that would overshadow the all-world RB they already have. Jerry has smartened up lately but such a move would signal extreme dementia.

Regarding Marty.....solid but not a world beater. And based on his statements the past 48 hours, does BB still want to resign a player who seems satisfied with his one trophy? For the Pats, set your price and move forward accordingly

Veteran O line stud please. The pressure numbers on Brady in the SB were ridiculous. And if JG brings NE an extra #1, maybe time to groom the LT of the future.

Bennett is gone for sure, he's wanting paid.

Hightower is the priority then Butler they are the only 2 must keeps, Amendola might be back if he takes a reduced number, Ryan is going to get money in FA the Patriots aren't willing to pay i'n guessing.

Blount i'm not really bothered either way, if they keep him fine if they let him walk then i think he's very easy to replace but if he signs for a million bucks for another year again they'd probably bring him back.

Alot of these guys have no reason to take a discount anymore, Ryan, Hightower ect have 2 rings so are well within their rights to not settle for anything below market value.
