Browns interested in trade for Garoppolo

Look who the browns got for carson wentz... a guy who never played a down in the Nfl. Did not even play in the FBS.

Here is an interesting note:

Mike Shanahan is an Eastern Illinois grad.
Maybe Kyle pushes to get Jimmy G to San Fran? It should create some competition with Cleveland.

Bah... I hope Jimmy stays. I know everyone likes to think Brady will play to 50 but Father Time will come. And sooner rather than later.

Wrong like Borges.
Just this week TFB said he feels better than ever and that his measurable are better too. Said he does not yet see the end in sight.
Trade the JAG.

A lot of people would prefer that he is Brady's eventual replacement but when you actually think about it that means that you have to move on from Brady after next season. After next season Garoppolo is going to be a free agent and he wont want to sign a deal to be remain a backup, he is going to want to play. So unless your willing to say goodbye to Brady after next season, that is not really an option.

If we trade Jimmy G for a high first, i hope we trade down and draft Rueben foster!!

Depending on medical he could fall a lil bit.

He's a monster tho, you can keep him out there all 3 downs imo.

Keep in mind that the currently unlikely scenario by most people is actually still possible . due to the same representation of TB and JG.

Convincing Garoppolo to bide his time waiting for Brady to retire would be a major coup by the Patriots. His representatives, Yee & Dubin Sports, already have an excellent rapport with the Patriots because of their representation of Brady. Garoppolo should have a good sense of Brady's plans because of their shared representation.

Here a nice comprehensive article on the topic:
Agent's Take: Will the Super Bowl be Jimmy Garoppolo's final game with the Patriots?
I don't see how the fact that they have the same agent is terribly relevant. If Yee Sports compromised the best interests of one of their clients because they happen to represent that client's teammate, or if they compromised privileged information about one of their clients with another client, then they are scumbags.

Not to mention that Brady has made it clear time and again that he is not retiring anytime soon.

And im guessing Illegal

Yes, they could lose their licenses to represent athletes and practice law.

Now, it goes without saying, that if Brady shared some info with Yee and authorized them to share it with Garoppolo, that's another story. But absolutely nothing we know about Brady could lead one to believe that is the case.

Jimmy could refuse to sign an extension? But that would be risky financially. Maybe he could sign for like 2 years total at market yearly salary.
I don't see how refusing to sign an extension with New England is a risky move for Garoppolo. He would be foolish to sign an extension here unless everyone knows something about Brady which completely contradicts Brady's spoken statements.

If Jimmy garoppolo were able to leave the Pats right now and enter the draft, He would be taken number 1 overall, no doubt about it.
You have got to be kiddingt. He did not move from 2nd round to #1 overall based on 1 1/2 games performance. Not to mention he only has 1 year left at low dollars.

I like Jimmy G too much to have the Browns ruin him.

I agree, but I don't think Belichick cares too much about that. He's gonna do whatever is best for the team

"This must be what Bill Belichick will feel like on draft day."

Very underrated show

hes more proven than any quarterback coming out. He's also better and more pro ready than any QB coming out. It is a SSS (small sample size) but he's arguably less of a risk than any player coming out. No one really knows how any of those kids feel. I guess Part of me does overrate Jimmy because when I discovered him months before the 2014 draft I thought he was the best QB in the class, and I wanted us to draft him so badly. I think it has to be considered that a lot of teams potentially missed on garoppolo just like they did Brady ( which was more significant, 2nd round vs 6th round)

Devil's advocate: One could question how many downs most QBs play before missing one to injury. We don't know whether Garapollo (sp?) (STILL? LOL) is simply injury prone; and we don't know whether the injury that he DID sustain will make him more injury prone than he would otherwise be (unlikely, given the lack of severity... but each body is different)

If there are deals being offered, you know that the other guys are making the above point

We all fell in love with him for a few quarters. He really does seem to be "that good," and a worthy successor (or the most worthy successor likely to come our way, let's put it that way). When he gets away, yes, he might really be the "one who got away."

OTOH, his trade value will never be higher. What it comes down to is the Pats have to make the call now as to how long they expect Brady to last. Most people are saying a long time, as these things go. If you asked me 5 years ago, I'd say he'd probably be wrapping it up by now.

OTOOH, who knows what BB does when he gets the "better a year early than a year late, nobody is immune" itch.

I'll believe the trade happened once the trade happens.

Jimmy's certainly the most talented, NFL ready QB thats "available". At least imo.

He showed a lot during his brief stint starting for us.

He's been tutored and coached by the best.

He's young w/ experience. "Face" of franchise type.

Devils advocate is Belichick is the master and has had plenty of time to get Jimmy ready, hide his flaws and put together superior game plans w/ loaded roster.

You never really "know" a guy until you see him perform under certain circumstances. Comeback wins, toughness and leadership.

Jimmy certainly showed a ton but theres a lot of unknowns as well.

We'll know real quick who really likes him bc after the SB the focus gets a lot brighter and thats good if your team is a joke right now. Cleveland, SF, Chi etc

Not to mention a Arizona whos def in win now mode w/ a very average Palmer.

All we need is 2 teams to fight and we're getting a sweat deal that will hopefully have us talking about "6 Fuk Pitt".

Well on some cavs sites most swear they wouldn't trade #12 alone for Jimmy. Compare him to the likes of Cassel and Mallet

I'd gladly take both their 2's and a 3rd next year.

Best case is probably SF and Cleveland fighting it out? Both have more than enough juice to make a real play and make the deal actually happen.

Objective evidence says he is still an elite NFL QB as of this writing. Eventually he'll suck, but whether it's at 41 or 45 (or another age) is unknown.

An ancient Greek syllogism might cast light on this...

Socrates is a man.
Socrates is mortal.
I am a man.
Therefore, I am Socrates.

Wait that's not it....
Thanks, I haven't laughed so hard in a long time -- well done!

I'm coming around to believe the relevant question is how much confidence BB has that Brissett can lead his team and make the plays to win. We talk about Brady's time remaining (a few years?), and Jimmy's evidence (some) and college competition (weak). Not nearly enough about Brissett's ceiling.

We haven't seen much of the kid, but for certain the coaches have. They didn't draft him for no reason at all. They didn't activate him off IR for no reason at all, either.

If the Pats want to be aggressive, how about packaging Garoppolo and a tackle, Solder or Vollmer, for the Browns' first (overall) and one of their second round picks (preferably the highest)? Belichick can parley that return into a half dozen picks trading down, or spend some high pick on a truly elite athletic talent. Would love to see him get the best tackle in the draft as a reward for Scar sticking around for next year...

Slight difference there.
