Name the two QBs in this draft who are worthy of being a #1 or #2 overall pick.
There are none. But how many QBs are there today in the NFL that are as good and gave the future you would expect from a 1 or 2.
In other words how many teans could you go to and say you have the QB to win with?
There aren't a lot.
Perhaps the key for McDaniels is to go to an organization that will have the patience for him to develop one.

You can't develop one if you don't have one. The 49ers clearly don't have one. The question is whether or not McDaniels thinks either Bortles or Goff is one.

The thing about McDaniels.. and I am being totally ****ing honest. How could you be that dumb to take Tebow with your 1st round draft pick??

Did anyone else find it strange? I am not a football scout and I knew Tebow was a poor pro prospect at QB. I still find that move baffling and..

  • Tim Tebow was the second best QB prospect in that draft, and that's how it played out. It was just a weak QB draft, and the Broncos needed a QB.
  • Because of draft maneuvers, Tim Tebow was, essentially, drafted with a free pick.
  • How could BB be so dumb as to draft Easley with his first round pick?

I'll answer my own question

In the AFCE you have Brady and that's it. Plus at his age it's questionable whether you take the job because of him.

AFCN Ben but age there also.

AFCS Luck. Even though he has been shaky a good coach has to believe he can win with him.
Bortles and mariotta are top 2s that are too new to rate but surely not there yet.

AFCW Carr to new to rate but promising. More than one winning year would help.
No one else.

NFCE
Prescott and wentz too new to rate.
Cousins intriguing but hasn't done it yet.

NFCN
Rodgers obviously.
stafford intriguing but hadn't won anything yet.

NFCS
Ryan intriguing but hasn't won. He is on my list though.
Brees too old.
Winston too new to rate.

NFCW
goff too new to rate
Wilson is a guy yiubgeel QB is set with and you can with with.

That's slim pickings.

People hit and miss on players all the time. But I heard it all over the place that Tebows game wouldn't translate to the NFL. Cutler was a better QB than Tebow.. and he cut bait with Jay and spent a 1st rounder on a bust of a QB that alot of people knew he didn't have NFL goods.

I found the move questionable. He did win a playoff game.. but that was complete and utter luck.

Draft picks are a crap shoot. Every player drafted has issues. Tebows were mechanics. They weren't fixed just like other players who failed issues weren't fixed.
I think fans think the issue is more egregious if they recognize it than if it's harder for a novice to see but just as serious.

I'm not going to re-hash the Cutler thing. I'm just pointing out that the people railing against the Tebow selection as if it was some kind of unforgivable sin are being idiots.

He was proven right on cutler.

I don't feel the rams's a good job for mcdaniels. That team has alot of holes. OL sucks. Their wrs suck. Goff's a little iffy but it could be the line play

How can I be an idiot if I was right? It wasn't a 20/20 hind sight guess it was Josh is taking Tim Tebow with his 1st pick?? wow.. Thats not gonna end well and it didn't.

He was proven right on cutler.

Cutler was a better QB than Tebow.. what do you mean he was proven right? And yeah Cutler has issues and is not a very good QB

He can sign one and he can draft one.
You can develop one you don't yet have if there is patience and it doesn't have to be a top 3 pick. Half of the top in the league weren't too if the first round guys.

Jacksonville is the best job for him but without a QB hes a 8 and 8 coach at best.
Patricia is the coach who can elevate a team.
If we can keep him and bring in Kelly I feel good

He starts with talent on d and a hell of a RB.
Any team looking for a coach had some bare spots in the cabinet.

How can I be an idiot if I was right?

I could write about the blind squirrel concept. I could note that one mistake does not a career make. I could just point out that you being right doesn't change anything I wrote.

Instead, I'll just move on, because the "OMG! Tebow!" nonsense has been done to death about a billion times here.

The notion that going with Cutler over Tebow was the way to go is not supported by history.

Who?

Again, who?
Whoever he can fund and develop.
If he can't judge QB talent and develop it he has no long range hope to succeed, it's his specialty.

If he expects to get a job with everything in place and a ready made all pro QB he will wait a long time.

The point is that said QB has to be available. We, as Patriots fans, have seen that throughout the team's history, including in the BB era. Some obvious examples:

Kingsbury
O'Connell
Mallet

This is considered a lousy year for draftable QBs, and you're welcome to delve through this year's free agent QBs to find that guy. Maybe the Redskins will let Cousins walk, and he can be that guy.
