The likes of Harper, Carter, Dobson, Lucien and Washington weren't thrown to very much. I think they're all in trouble. What's happened to Martin? Is he injured because I didn't hear his name mentioned tonight.

Martin is still out I believe. And what are you doing up? Isn't it super late for you? Get some sleep man!

I honestly forgot about him tonight.
What receivers are realistically out there in trade?
The dream is Gordon but that's not happening the Browns would be crazy.
Would of loved to have a shot at Dorial Green Beckham.

Lost in the glow of competent CB play is the solid work that Ryan has put in against some of the bigger WRs in the league. He was excellent last year, and I don't see anyone else on the roster who can fill his role right now. Roberts might be able to one day, but he's still getting back into form. Logan Ryan is better than any CB on this roster not named Malcolm Butler. Others might pass him one day, but right now he's got a lock on the #2 spot.
Ryan was not "excellent" last year. He started off the year solid and then regressed back to getting toasted like before.

I'm going to stop you right there. I don't think there's any chance they'd get that high a pick for Logan Ryan.

Agreed, and that's the problem. For what we could actually hope to get for Ryan, I'd rather just keep him. Even if, say, Roberts and Jones both pass him on the depth chart, I'd rather keep him around for depth this year in case someone gets hurt than trade him for a 6th.

That's the reverse of the trade we usually make, where we give up a late-round pick for quality plug-and-play, contract-year depth at a position of need. By not making that trade with Ryan, we'd basically be doing the same at CB.

If Talib was worth a 4th in his final year (admittedly with a suspension), what would you get for Ryan?

I say 4th highest, and I really think a 5th or a 6th is more likely. He is not a proven shutdown corner who can erase a number 1 at times. If Logan Ryan is my best corner, I'd be a little concerned. He is improved for sure, and I like him, but I do not see him as a CB1. Can't see a team giving up more than a 4th to get him

Does anybody remember Ryan putting the clamps on Thomas in the AFCCG? I know Brady got hit a lot that game so it clouds our memories..but that did happen.

How did Brissett look? Noticeably better than Mallet ever looked?
Others have already mentioned it but yes he looked really good so far as what could be expected from him. Better than Mallet ever played in a Pats uniform.

I really like this kid. It's early and he will make mistakes but he is really cool in the pocket, moves around and evades pressure well, great arm and made some good passes tonight.

Let's put it this way both of our backup QBs looked much better than Hoyer tonight. Not a bad QB group from what I'm seeing. Still I don't want to see Biscuit playing in the regular season unless we are annihilating one of our first four opponents with JG.

OT: Guess SEA would rather do that Graham/Unger trade again, eh?

I thought the trade was a knee jerk reaction to losing the SB at the time and felt Seattle gave up too much.

Graham's injuries woes had been increasing and I thought he had peaked.

One of those guys is on the last year of his contract and is going to be overpaid next offseason though. I would sell high on him.

I understand the impulse, but you're talking about leaving Butler and Coleman as the only CBs on the roster who have ever played an NFL game! A veteran starter will be a valuable presence in that super-young corps.

Besides, "selling high" in Ryan's case will still just net a day-3 draft pick. One more year of his services plus a comp pick when he leaves looks a lot more attractive to me.

We need corners that can play man coverage. Can Cyrus do that? Did anyone see dobson tonight? He's not making this team. This Derby kid has shown alot. Has speed to get downfield.

He can play some man. My thing on Alabama players is that they usually come out almost fully developed. Jones should obviously get a little better as he gets used to the pro game but Saban really gets the most out of his players. Plus Alabama does more in the secondary than any other team in the country. They have the best coaches. Kid is ready to play and should do just fine at the nickel

I just like selling high I know he's a good number 2 I am all about putting the best team on the field but I hate not getting maximum value for my investments.
Ryan is a Investment some team will pay him like a high number 2 that won't be us.

I wouldn't trade him for less than a third or a quality receiver or back.
If that doesn't happen by all means keep him.

Brissett seems like the kind of QB people will eventually pay money to see play. He has a presence.

LOL, he cut his hand and it was WWII for the media

Agreed, and the worst part (for Seattle) is that Unger wasn't even the worst part of that trade. Giving up the first rounder was worse.

One of the most remarkable things about Seattle's run these last few years is that they've accomplished it in spite of making a couple historically bad trades. What other team is still giving up first round picks--aka 5 cost-controlled years of premium talent--for players who are among the highest paid at their positions? Moves like that just ruin your cap structure, and the Seahawks have survived doing it twice with Harvin and Graham, all because they fill out the back of their roster so well.

I do think this will be the year things really start to fall apart, though.

Why do i have the suspicion Brady wanted to play and Jimmy G grabbed those scissors cause he wanted the start Maybe it was BB though

But other teams recognize that about him too. Why should they hand over a premium draft pick for a guy who a) isn't that good, and b) is going to be a FA after this season anyway, where someone will probably overpay him. Players lose a lot of value when there's only a year left on their deal, because you're getting any intermediate or long term control over the asset you're trading for. For perspective, when we traded for Talib in a contract year, we got him for a 7th.

The impulse is right, and I don't inherently have a problem with trading Ryan. If someone's willin to give us a 3rd or even 4th for him, I'd do it. But I think it's important that we be realistic in understanding what we can realistically hope to get for him. I'm sure there are teams that are starved for CB depth that would be willing to toss us a pick for him, but I'd be very, very surprised if any of them were willing to part with anything higher than a 6th. And at that price I don't think it's worth it. Is an extra 6th round pick really worth the risk of being one injury from going into the AFCCG with Coleman, Roberts and Jones as your top 3 corners?

You think dobson's making the 53?
Not if he doesn't start looking the part.
Looks like Tarzan plays like Jane I hate how he always looks to avoid contact and get out of bounds.
I want to see him fight for yards look for contact.
He runs smooth enough he's not explosive and he seems like a real mellow dude. Doesn't have the fire Jules GRONK Danny and Chris have I wish he played with passion he doesn't have that second gear after he gets the ball in his hand. I think we need to seek a player elsewhere if he doesn't understand what he could be losing.
Interesting to see him out there with the number 1s
I will hope he figures it all out if not carry another tight end or find another Dobson type body with the heart Of Edelman.
