If they expanded the roster more players would have a chance to shine make more money for themselves.
They may find more Victor Cruzs and Malcom Butlers with more game exposure.
How frustrating is it to develop a guy to your system your team not be able to keep him due to a numbers game involving injuries to other positions as well as other factors.
Said player cant improve and his talent goes to waste.

I say expand the practice squad as well as standard rosters.

Where would the NYJFL get the money? They can't afford it.

We've heard the same thing every year.

Yup. When there's nobody out there hitting him he's great. But as soon as there's someone out there who'll try to take his head off he'll be doing the discount double drop (drop the ball and/or drop to the ground as quick as he can).

He also bobbles many of his passes.

And is injury prone.

Just the kind of guy the Pats can rely on this year.

Can I just be a sap and say I love this board? If rooting for the Pats wasn't good enough, I get to discuss them with the community here. Even when we don't always agree, it's still fun and enlightening. This is a great place to be. I know it's a bit OT, but whatever. Sue me.

Here's @PatsBoy12 at school today.

C'mon DI. Are you so desperate to keep your anti-fan boy reputation alive that you are willing to deny the good season Ryan had last season? Are you going to come before us and say that he WASN'T one of the better #2 CB's in the league last season?

The fact is that NONE of us are "overrating" Ryan. We are just commenting on how some people are vastly underrating his value to the team for this season. He is what he is, and that is a very dependable solid #2 CB. He might very well be the odd man out NEXT season when the Pats are forced to pay so many so much, but that doesn't change the fact that last season he WAS one of the dependable #2 CB's in the league. And we have no reason to doubt that he won't be the same this coming season.

We disagree. That's about the 4 millionth time, so neither of us should be shocked.

Possible but unlikely. It sounds like he needs to beat either Hogan or Edelman. Edelman? No way. Hogan? Maybe but he looks like a good veteran WR though. I could see packages where putting Mitchell out there over other guys makes more sense due to skill set but on the whole it is hard to argue Mitchell > Hogan for this year.

If you had to make a play who do you want on the field? Maybe Mitchell earns that trust late but idk.

The Pats/BB use the players that create the best mismatches. One week it could be Hogan as WR#2, the next week it's Mitchell.

Really excited about this season. A lot of talent on this team. The one area of concern I would have would be the O-line. Really curious to see how they play during the preseason.

Ashley, I think with Scar back into the fold, the concerns we have with the line, while they will exist, they'll sort out before the season is through. As Pat Kirwan says, he makes a big difference in being part of a constant thread of success with this team. A guy like that is easier to listen to as a young player.

Roberts is having a solid camp. I am happy with how he is doing. A few other guys are too but in reality it is Roberts vs Jones for spot 5. I still think they should keep 6 as Ryan will be gone next year and Roberts has some skill and is 6 feet. Can't teach size.

The Pats don't have that tall outside prospect if they cut Roberts.
Kind of pertains to what we were discussing earlier, Digital.

Jonathan Jones is rising on the cornerback depth chart and could potentially steal the fifth job from Darryl Roberts. Jones was one of the pleasant surprises of the offseason workout program.

Still plenty of time for the situation to shake out, but it's looking like if a decision had to made today, it'd be Jones.

Patriots camp: Tom Brady, Martellus Bennett heat up, Shaq Mason debuts in team drills

In today's NFL you HAVE to have 3 starting CB's, because there will be 3 on the field a majority of the the time. And since this is age of 3 starting CB's, you need good back ups for each of those positions.

Not to mention that the back end exponentially improves with continuity as well. Increased communication. Depth of knowledge in the playbook to turn think-react into just act. Better "pass offs" in zone plays and true shut down double teams.

I just don't see the ROI on trading Ryan.

We got a Gronk, no doubt. But we also got a whatever this is:

I really don't like the current burying of my binkie Darryl Roberts. I haven't seen any reports of him getting beat so I don't get why they're burying him on the depth chart when he is the most physically gifted CB on the roster and he showed last TC he's very talented when given the chance.
