Jets Suck -- 2015 Edition (Official): Countdown to Oblivion

Jets fans are divided into two camps on Revis:
The Daily News ( Darrelle Revis struggles covering Sammy Watkins ) makes its position clear:
Darrelle Revis went MIA for most of Sunday’s season-crushing loss to the Bills ... and he stayed that way after the game.

The Jets’ $70 million man was schooled by a youngster, second-year wideout Sammy Watkins, throughout most of Sunday’s contest. Watkins, who was mostly marked by No. 24, finished with 11 receptions for 136 yards.

After the game, with the Jets’ season over, Revis refused to speak about his disappointing performance.
And Manish Mehta ( Mehta: Ryan Fitzpatrick deserved better ending ) has:
For the better part of 16 weeks, he had provided hope to those conditioned to believe that no such thing existed. He was the journeyman, who had finally found a home. He was going to return to the place that discarded him to help his new team break a playoff drought that seemed more like 40 years than four.

For reasons unknown, it wasn’t meant to be. The magic that buoyed Fitzpatrick vanished on a cold afternoon in Western New York, leaving everyone in green and white with familiar questions and pain.
Reasons unknown? Clearly Mehta hasn't visited this page!!! The reason is clear:
The Jets Suck!

The Cubs of the NFL.

The thing about the Jets is this wasn't a true rebuilding project. I consider rebuilding to be drafting a lot of young players and replacing aging vets.

The Jets are almost entirely journeyman veterans and guys post rookie deals. They are now up against the cap with major holes, the result of many poor drafts and building by winning bidding wars.

They have many players like Revis, Mangold, Ferguson, and Marshall all on the precipice of a steep decline due to age.

I applaud their FO for doing a good job in building a good roster and turning around in one year; it's better than most teams would have done building through free agency. Long-term, though, this team is likely to revert back to their 2013-14 form, the result making quick fixes and not building through the draft and overpaying for big names.

I'll face the firing squad. (But only if I can have some fun when/if NE's revenge tour ends sooner than expected.)

Simply put... it sucked. I was actually a Geno supporter most of the season, and when I finally bought in on Fitz, he crapped the bed in the 4th. 1st RZ INT of the season happened in the 4th quarter of the most important game.

Eh, **** happens. There are plenty of other things to gripe about the game (Ivory?, Revis giving 15yd cushion, backup kicker, and so on...), but no sense. At least I have my Sundays back now. Overall I'm happy with the season. Meaningful games in Dec and even Jan can't be overlooked. Most fans don't get that.

Moving forward isn't exactly bleak either. This was the first year of the Maccagnan/Bowles era. Marshall and Decker were damn good. Even if Marshall is older, still looking at 2 to 3 good/great years. Fitz?.. well I'm disappointed with the last game but he's proven he can play pretty darn good with a solid supporting cast. I can roll with him for a while.

D will be good. Special teams could definitely use some investment.

It was a fun ride and tough to ask for more after the major changes last offseason. Gonna need to make even more progress though. Not sure if you guys have looked at the AFC East opponents next season, but they're not the cake-walk we had this season.

Obviously there will be some differences between Jets/Pats schedule but for the Jets: division + 5 current playoff teams + Indi/Balt who'll probably both be very solid teams again.

...

Now for the Pats. I'm actually looking forward to a NE/Arizona SB. Not sure who I'll root for yet, but I know that'll be a heck of a game. Hope you guys recover from the injuries and the current 2-4 stretch.

Also I give a nod of respect to TB for actually playing last week. Was it smart? Hells no. But showed his determination to play/win whenever possible.

Nope, I stopped reading your post right here. You are not allowed that luxury in this thread. Please afford us the courtesy of suspending your visits 'til next season, when your team embarks upon its 48th consecutive year of futility.

Nice post. And very classy. I will say that the Jets future is the polar opposite of not bleak. Marshall is a head case that can and will implode at any moment. Your D-line is going to be falling apart due to free agency and age will be creeping in on some. You have no QB and any thoughts of Brees outside of the dome should scare you. Fitz will never get it done. This was his best season, and one you won't see again. Revis is cooked as a shut down corner. Hell, he was last year. Cromartie is another year older and that isn't good.

There is just too much wrong to fix in one season. Basically a lot of things went above average for a lot of players. It's a stinky position for a franchise to be in. Almost good enough, but not quite. And too old by the time the stuff in other areas are fixed. Rexy and Tanny really hosed your franchise.

Ha, ****. Well I suppose that's one way to look at the Jets. Obviously I disagree but maybe I'll try to adopt some of that thinking so next season is even more fun/surprising.

Regardless, all AFC East teams should be ready for a tough road next year. That schedule looks brutal.

Marshall is a ticking time bomb. Can't wait till that blows up.

No, it's not **** happens, it's reverting to form. Fitzy has had a gift for throwing the crucial interception his entire career. The fact it didn't happen much till you needed him the most is an aberration. Then we saw his true nature, three possessions ending with three picks.

In any case, it was guaranteed to happen because The Jets Suck!

Bill, you've got to wonder why @JetFan79 is wasting so much of his time here. He clearly is delusional with this nonsense (self-delusion is inherent to being a Green Beans fan, same as denial to a drug addict). But the most disturbing part is one winning NON-PLAYOFF season has given him so much faux swagger that he now reserves the "right" to -- and I'm quoting here -- "have some fun when/if NE's revenge tour ends sooner than expected." No, no, and HELL no. Not in this thread.

Sorry JF79, but as much as I appreciate your attempt at a civil discussion it's in the wrong place. This is the thread where I like to come to vent about the Jets, not talk real football.

Edit: How about I start another thread where folks of all ages and team colors can have a football discussion? I'll call it Serious AFCE Talk
