Not much to say. The point still stands. Go back and look at the whole season, you'll find I didn't talk about it much at any time.

You must be able to see that there's a lot of upside to the pick though right?

You were wrong then. You argued that a coverage LB was not a need and it was a bigneed in last year's draft. It was. It was an even bigger need when the Pats' only LB who could cover with any consistency went down halfway through the season.

Time will tell if you were right this time.

I'm not going to litigate this again...it is what it is, and we'll see where the chips fall this season, no doubt. In other news...

I'm off ignore! Looking forward to spirited debates, even where we disagree

I wasn't wrong at all.

If there's substance to that Mallett rumour and we get 33, then we're in a really good position. Get ASJ and Richburg/Bitonio and I call that a win. And at this point, considering what's off the board (the best DBs for example), I start to get interested in someone like Carlos Hyde or Kony Ealy if we have an extra pick. I wouldn't rule out Trent Murphy either.

This really could be a heck of a draft if Mallett becomes picks 33 or 65. ASJ+Richburg FTW!

Popping the ACL almost a decade later isn't exactly the same as popping them twice in 3 shortened seasons. Come on, man. Don't be that guy.

No, its not exactly the same. But it's close. Mankins has popped both his ACLs, AND he was considered a draft reach, AND there was a team lurking that wanted him. Is there anyone here unhappy he's on the team? No, because he came back from both his knee pops.

Injuries are such a crapshoot there's no reason to stress about them if the guy is coming back ahead of schedule and all the tests check out. Happy to have a guy who apparently has the ability to bounce back. Hope Vollmer and Wilfork and Kelly are doing the same.

Ahh.... same old Rob. The Irony is just laying about all over the place.

1.) I've been far better at calling players, for good or bad, than have you.

2.) I didn't call Easley a bust.

Other than that, though....

Well, other than that, you've still got nothing.

1.) Says you. When you are crowing you were right about Collins last year because a coverage LBer wasn't a position of need, you might want to re-evalutate your personnel evaluation abilities.

2.) You are doing everything short of calling Easly a bust.

I just soaked in a bunch of footage of Easley. I understand that people are hesitant about his injuries but I encourage those people to go watch him play for a bit. He is a freaking stud. Impressions:

1) Yes he is explosive, extremely explosive at that, but it's not just the explosion but rather his economy of movement that makes him effective so getting upfield. He's at the pads or swimming before the lineman fully gets out of his stance with zero wasted movement. He's 6'2 and short armed so the fact that he swims so much was a surprise to me. It's effective though. I'll get into why in a bit.
2) He played all over the line. He played the 1, the 3, the 7, and took a handful of snaps at the wide 9...and he did all well. He beat tackles, got under them and either came across, ripped to the outside, or effectively bulled the tackle to get the quarterback off the spot. He was too fast for guards, and surprisingly held his own with really good leverage and pad level while peeking. He got off blocks inside very, very well.
3) He scrapes like a linebacker when it flows to his side but also doesn't give up the cutback on zone plays where he is the backside end. He sees the field very well for a lineman.
4) This is the key to his game in my mind; hand technique. Tying into why he's effective with his swim and excellent shedding for the run, his hands are active, fast, and violent. Guys just don't get their hands on his pads. Wax on, wax off young man.

I understand that health is a concern but his tape is as good as you're gonna get. Reminds me a bit of John Randle.

don't like this pick at all. from all i've read, this is a major reach. also, easley tore his knee twice non contact drills. that's worrying.

huge red flags. would of preferred someone like su a'filo.

Let me go on record as saying I love the talent of this kid.........HE IS A BEAST and has a John Randle like upside

BUT......BUT those knees are a ticking time-bomb as I said before and he could've been had in the second round with a trade down to the Vikes, while gaining some more draft capitol, who traded up after with Seattle....

Not upset just don't see value at that pick

But he watches cartoons.

No, I mean Easley. I'm not interested in re-litigating the past.

Same there. I'm not opposed to the player personally, although I'd have preferred someone stouter. My issue is only with where the pick was made. I think you and I are pretty much alike on this one.

Like the pass rush potential
Worry about the run defense
Worry about the injury issue
Think the injury issue made this too high a place to pick him

And now you're lying about me on the first day I have you off ignore. I should have known better. You just can't help yourself.

Bye.

I said this already, but to reiterate: POST MORE OFTEN THX.
