DeSean Jackson Released by Eagles [update]: Signed by Washington

Well football agents know the basics -- when in doubt, call the Daniel Snyder hotline!! Snyder to the rescue with a huge contract for a troubled but talented player...

Where have we heard this story before? Oh yeah, Albert Haynesworth plus countless others! Good for the Jackson camp. They were smart and they got an owner who loves to 'make a splash' to show them the free agent $$.

Yes, the guy who was clearly the best WR to hit the market this offseason got about $1m-$2m AAV less than he should have because Daniel Snyder is a spendthrift. :bricks:

Come on. Don't be a Jets fan.

I hate how people turn this into a racial debate

Shut the EFF up, Richard Sherman. :bricks:

yeah dumb thugs should just stfu amirite?

The Eagles tried to smear Jackson with racialized fear, if you have a problem with that, direct it at them and ESPN not Sherman for pointing it out as many other have.

You don't though, you have a problem with race being an issue whenever it makes you feel uncomfortable because you're old and angry. LOL at you.

Yeah, I know that we talked about it yesterday. I think you may have undervalued what a talent D.Jackson has been, especially coming off of an 82 catch season w/1300 yards.

I think the AAV value of 8m is directly in line with what he is worth, particularly if guys like Eric Decker are getting 7m themselves.
No, I agree. I had always thought that the AAV for his contract was going to be in the $8-10MM/yr range. But I expected it to be more incentives and fewer guaranteed dollars.

While reports are telling us that the full $16MM is going to be guaranteed over the first 2 years, I still suspect there is language in the contract that could get some of it back if Jackson exhibits the same disruptive behavior that got him axed from Philly.

Actually I doubt Washington has a lot of risk this first year. I'm sure he'll be on his best behavior for at least the first year. IIRC, chronic malcontent Cory Dillon took until his 3rd year with the club before his true nature started to show up again, even though he had a decent year

You know what's funny? Reading your insane blathering I feel myself growing older and angrier by the second.

This whole gangter thing has overshadowed the fact that Deshawn Jackson acted like TyronePoole, all the time. That's the real reason he was released. Imagine having to go to a job with someone like TyronePoole as a co-worker, everyday.

*DeSean. I know, it's all the same mumbo jumbo.

Skipping voluntary workouts with new team.

Everybody knows that DeSean is for DeSean. To post photos of himself on vacation while his new teammates are practicing is just another piece of DeSean. It couldn’t happen to a better owner-Dan Snyder !

If your questionable character in the locker room, work ethic, and commitment to your team recently got you cut, what do you think would look best when you’re trying to reshape your image:

Missing voluntary OTAs (however meaningless they may be) with your new team to go on a vacation, OR skipping your prepaid vacation to go to voluntary OTAs (however meaningless they may be) with your new team

Yeah, I was too focused on his color to care about spelling his name correctly.

Having watched a marathon session of watching Archer, I once embarrassingly referred to Woodhead as "Woodhouse" a half a dozen times or more in a post of mine.

I don't think the fact that they are both white had anything to do with it either. ;)

Ray Clay aka Schaddy N. Freude....

So sue me. I find MeSean very entertaining.

And I don't think I've told you how much I enjoy your Jets fan's head photo every single time I see it.

I've been told that pic sends the slime and putrefaction of Jets Insewer into paroxysms of blind raging self mutilations...well, one can only hope, I guess...

You've captured all the pathos and bathos of Jet fandom, even more than the dork with the plane on his head.

Yes, skipping previously unknown weightlifting days for an already paid vacation is a horrible thing to do. True Patriots players would never miss such voluntary activities.

ORLANDO, Fla. -- After missing the first week of the New England Patriots' voluntary workouts and training privately in California, quarterback Tom Brady joined his teammates Tuesday in Foxborough, Mass., to participate in the team's program.

I guess MeTom was lucky not to get cut. He didn't even have the absolutely valid excuse that his new team was starting their program two weeks earlier than his old team because of the NFL rules allowing that for a new coaching staff.

Hmmm.......

Jackson, as a member of the Eagles, scheduled his vacation to take place weeks prior to the start of Philadelphia’s offseason workout program. But he was cut out of nowhere and landed with a team that was permitted to open their workout sessions two weeks before the rest of the league because of the fact that they have a new head coach. Jackson was planning to attend Philly’s voluntary workout sessions, but his tenure with the organization that drafted him came to an end on March 28.

What you aren’t hearing from those who are grilling Jackson for his failure to attend is that he cleared his vacation with the Washington brass prior to signing with the franchise.

It's almost as if people are just looking for things to attack Jackson over....

Almost.

Plus letting the poor saps (and future team mates) who go know how dumb they are.

Excellent point. Jackson did absolutely nothing wrong, and he even got clearance for taking the vacation before he signed with his new team (according to the report), but let's pretend he did something bad anyway.

Almost.

You make the wildest analogies. How many times has Brady dropped the ball short of the goal line so he could do a dance or a flip?
