Bye Bye Byrdy Jarius Byrd to the Saints 6 year deal.

Field Yates ?@FieldYates 39s

Two top DB's go off the free agency board, as CB Alterraun Verner signs with the Bucs, S Jairus Byrd with the Saints.

Starting to look tough to upgrade the secondary if they don't get Talib.

Jarius Byrd going to the Saints....just signed a 6 year deal.

Not sure why we couldn't have matched that offer for Verner.

Good, didn't want smurf overrated Verner.

Agreed, he's a super disruptive athlete. I dunno if Belichick would tolerate a lineman who has no concept of gap control, but I think the disruption that he creates is more than worth it.

hate to quibble but quibble I must...how bad can his gap control be that he's not an upgrade to the interior DL that allowed Notion "Peter Pansy" Moreno to run up 250 yards on us in the Denver game...

Safeties are flying off the board today. Wonder when the run on cornerbacks will happen? Maybe waiting for the Revis situation to get finalized.

Just saw Verner signed with the Bucs

a six year deal for Byrd?

I am clueless now...what the hell kind of deal did the players make during the last contract talks? The ever expanding cap to infinity?

Vaccaro at SS and Bryd at FS, that is nice combo..

Buccaneers agree to terms with Alterraun Verner | ProFootballTalk

The Buccaneers didn’t want Darrelle Revis. But they did want a big-name, big-money cornerback.

Free agent cornerback Alterraun Verner, formerly of the Titans, has agreed to terms on a contract with the Buccaneers. It’s a four-year, $26 million deal with $14 million guaranteed, according to Mike Garafolo of FOX Sports.

Verner is the No. 10 player in our Free Agent Hot 100, and he’s a great addition to the Buccaneers and to new coach Lovie Smith’s defense. It’s also a significant surprise: Few people saw this one coming.

Revis will not return to the Bucs, and barring a last-minute trade, he will be released on Wednesday. Now the Bucs have their No. 1 cornerback. And he’ll cost less than half as much as Revis.

Better than Ray Vellano's, and if it's worse than Chris Jones', that's only because he's that much better at actually getting upfield and blowing up the pocket.

Verner is a nice fit for Lovie's scheme..

Seems like it already did - Shields, Davis, Grimes and Verner are all off the board. Of the upper tier corners in FA, that basically just leaves Talib.

Saints announce six-year deal with Jairus Byrd | ProFootballTalk

On a day with few surprises relating to the signing of free agents, here’s a fairly big one.

The Saints have announced that former Bills safety Jairus Byrd has signed a six-year deal.

Byrd, who played in 2013 under the franchise tag in Buffalo, wasn’t expected to draw serious consideration from the Saints, in large part because the Saints have been dealing with salary-cap issues.

Talib, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, Antonio Cromartie, Charles Tillman, and Carlos Rodgers are probably the top CBs left (not including Revis), in approximate order.
