Assuming we resign Edelman would you trade Mallett and Amendola to Houston for #33?

Yep, NOW i can see why the Texans would want to make the deal.

They would make it for Mallett, just as Vrabel was a throw in for the Cassel deal Amendola would be here, it provides them with value. Even if Mallett does not pan out, they still have a solid slot receiver, which is not the worst thing that could come out of the #33 pick in the draft (Dowling is).

I do not understand why this thread is so upsetting to some of you, it was a creative thought that I wanted to hear the opinion of others on, I was not trying infuriate the masses. I do not have the authority to make the trade so do not get so worked up about the possibility.

The real question worth polling: how many more threads will Brady6 start about Edelman and/or Amendola this offseason?

Sorry I just think this thread is dumb because I'm Amendola's adopted son

You really shouldn't have revealed that.

Brady6 is going to start a thread called, "Would you trade Danny Amendola and his adopted son "prime time" to [NAME of CRAPPY TEAM HERE] for the [NUMBER OF UNATTAINABLE DRAFT SELECTION HERE]?"

To Brady6 you're not a person, you're just another piece of meat to make his imaginary Danny Amendola trade look possible. I think Brady6 is Mantai Teo and his fantasy has shifted from his dead imaginary girlfriend to being the imaginary Patriots General Manager whose Christmas bonus is based solely on trading Danny Amendola.

Why does everyone defend Danny but not me??

The thread actually was about trading Mallett and adding something of value to get the #33 pick in return. Edelman and Amendola play the same position so if we resign Edelman than Amendola would be expandable, if you can think of another expendable player that we have on our roster that fits a need for the Texans let me know and we can change the thread title.

The making everything that mentions Amendola into the defend Danny thread is getting really old...:bored:

For the record I said trade Mallett for the #33 pick in my offseason plan and everyone said it would never happen, so I thought of a creative way to get that pick, now of course what started out about Mallett and the #33 pick is all about Amendola’s defense team because his name was said. This crap is becoming Tebowlicious.

Re: Would you trade Mallett and Amendola to the Texans for the #33 pick in the dr...

Not really Ditka trades his entire draft for a pot head RB. O'Brien would be trading one pick in the second round to acquire a potential starting QB and a top 10 slot receiver in the NFL.

If this was 2011 it would essentially be Ras-I Dowling for Mallett and Amendola.

So, in other words BOB is throwing away his 2nd pick. Mallet has never started a regular season game and has looked shaky in pre season. Almendola cant stay on the field and if he is on the field he has some lingering injury.

This draft is nothing like 2011.

If the thread did not include Amendola in it would you even be in here pouting? If it was titled trade Mallett and Ridley, or Mallett and Dennard?

Go ahead and make those threads and I guess we'll find out

Wait don't make those threads because they'd be equally terrible

Its not fantasy free agency and Al Davis is dead.

No team in their right minds would give the 33rd pick in this draft for those 2.

I just had a ras-I-dowling flashback. Followed by a Tavon Wilson flashback. Lets keep the players we have.

hehe dont stop there!

and Dexter Reid, Gus Scott, Jermaine Cunningham, Darius Butler, Chad Jackson...

We've had some pretty big misses in the 2nd round, its certainly no guarantee of anything!

I don't get the belief that Mallett has looked shaky. He has the best touchdown to interception ratio of any QB in the last 2 preseasons. He is playing with second string, third string, and soon to be roster cuts along the offensive line and and skills positions. Take a look at Brady's statistic last season when he threw to players not named Edelman, Gronkowski, Amendola, and Vereen. His completion percentage was 51%.

As far as never starting a game the same is true of the 3 QBs who will be drafted using a top 10 draft pick next month.

The 2011 draft -

Newton
V Miller
Sherman
Darius
Green
Peterson
J Jones
Watt
T Smith
Quinn
Pouncey
Solder
Wilkerson
Kaepernick
Dalton
Cobb
J Thomas

Hmm...

Why are you spending you time in a thread you consider terrible? Personally I don't spend time or energy on things I consider terrible.

The difference of course, is that the QBs you're speaking of are anywhere between 4-5 yrs younger, along with the cheap, rookie contracts that they'll be signed to through March 2019; and that's not bringing talent into the equation whatsoever.

The QBs are 21-22 years old, Mallett is 25, a top 5 draft pick is going to make about $5-$6 million APY.

As far as talent goes, I do not consider Manziel, Bridgewater, Bortles, or Barr are more talented than Ryan Mallett is. We are talking about a 6’6 245 lb. QB with a rocket arm. Watch his film from the preseason, he makes throws that a lot of QBs in the NFL cannot make and his decision making is solid.

why would the pats do that? they could probably get the #33 or so for mallett alone, and its not like the pats have a bevy of experienced WR's right now. Also, trading him does not do anything that curring him does when it comes to the salary cap, so why not keep him around until you are sure you don't need/want him?

Mallett will be 26 on June 5th.

In comparison, there are some QBs such as Manziel and Bridgewater who were just 20 around Thanksgiving, (Dec. and Nov. birthdays) so yes--there's a fairly significant difference.

The average difference is going to be about 4.5 years apart, so some GMs will see this as important, especially when you have the opportunity to draft a kid who is that young.

Also, most of Mallett's competition in this year's market aren't going to be "top 5" picks. There's a decent chance that Bridgewater and Manziel may be the only top 5 QBs taken. There are a lot of vets as well like Vick, Schaub, and Cassel that could provide better value, and their teams wouldn't even have to give anything up in terms of draft picks for trade compensation either.
