Incognito suspended indefinitely by Dolphins

When did Pouncey chime in? The only time I heard his name involved is when RI's dad called Pouncey a drug addict and other such things. I know Wallace, Cameron Wake and another guy came out saying RI was their buddy.
There is a video of Incognito calling Pouncey the N word when they were drinking together.

without knowing the details, this can go 1 of 2 ways

1 - the buck stops at incognito and the coaches do not get implicated, he takes the whole fall and the world moves on with the exception of admonishing the coaches for being asleep at the wheel

2 - coaches are implicated and if that proves to be true, the punishments should be as sever as what NO got for the bounty scandal. In fact, I think this is worse.

either way, this is going to be interesting

Wait a minute.....you keep going on that we can't actually know anything until all the facts are in, but you just made a huge assumption that Pouncey has no issue with RI calling his linemate a ni&&er.

Wrong, Grogan. He said YOU can't actually know anything until all the facts are in.

He can do it all he wants.

Diatribe on video
Late in the day, TMZ.com posted a video clip of a shirtless Incognito screaming the N-word during a barroom diatribe, with teammate Mike Pouncey, who is black, laughing to the side.

Not sure if that proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that Pouncey was okay with it, but it's a safe assumption to make if he was laughing.

EDIT: You guys should watch the video, if you haven't yet. It's extremely weird. But it also shows that the use of that word by a white guy toward a black guy isn't always the hair raising issue that the media makes it out to be. Like I said before, I've seen plenty of white people call their black friends that either in jest or to bust their balls. It depends on the level of comfort they have in their friendship. It's also my opinion that those who think the use of that word is completely black and white, with no grey area in between, don't have a lot (if any) friends outside of their own race.

What a nice guy that Martin is! He was "asked to donate" and he "decided to contributed" to this trip and then "chose not to go" - - gee, Andy, it must have been his bowling night.

Your reasoning is right out of the Whitey Bulger guidebook.

I am going by what Martin himself has been reported to say.
Another thing he could have said was no. Another thing he could have done was go on the trip.
You are creating consequences in your own mind for saying no, while Martin reportedly has said he cared less about the money than drawing attention to himself by saying no.
Once again, you assume facts and take the high and mighty road. Haven't you learned yet?

There is a video. I consider that a fact.

LOL!!!! "Context"!!!!!!

They are out drinking together, Incognito is doing his tazmanian devil dance and yelling that Pouncey is "in da house" while using the n-word.

A far cry from a cross country voicemail to a guy he's pissed off at for not being at OTA's.

"Context"

I hate the word either way - - - but the "context" is different when using it while hugging someone that you are drinking with and using it as a weapon in a voicemail *****ing him out for not being at OTA's.

You cannot POSSIBLY be THAT tone deaf.....oh, maybe you can.

Saw the video yesterday. Hence my post above about "context".

#1 ain't gonna happen IMO. The NFLPA can argue things like there is a culture in the NFL that's been supported by coaches, GMs and the League. since the League hasn't taken a strong stance against "bullying/hazing" you can't now make an example of RI. It would be a whole process. Plus they can argue he thought he was doing what the coaches told him to do.

READ SLOWLY (or have someone read to you).
Do you really need to be a dlck to communicate?
You should suspend yourself Mr, Mod.

The suspension is for the voicemail that is already out. It is INDEFINITE - - ergo, will be modified based on further evidence.
Oh, please direct me to the report that he was suspended for the voicemail. Your assumption that this is the beginning and end of what transpired up to the suspension is obtuse.
And once again, you have argued that we don't need more evidence, and now you change horses in the middle of stream and say we do need more evidence to decide about the coaches involvement.
You either need evidence or are fine with jumping to conclusions. You cant have it both ways, or you are hypocritical.

We can't hear the call. We can hear the video. In print, the voicemail looks malicious. Upon hearing it, you could find out that this is something that was being done in the locker room and it could have just been one teammate aggressively getting on another teammate for not showing up at OTA's. The worst part is the shock that the "I'll kill you" part is generating, since that hasn't been discussed at length in this thread. Again, it's possible he could have meant it. It's also possible that he was telling a teammate something that most of us have told friends or acquaintances. Just the other day, I told a co-worker that I would kill him if he kept making an annoying noise with his throat on a road trip. So yeah, context.

"Another thing he could have said was no."

Really? That would have gone over great with "Leadership Councilman Incognito".

"while Martin reportedly has said he cared less about the money than drawing attention to himself by saying no."

Aaaah, so saying "no" would have repercussions.......

Make up your mind.

You're partially right.

If the report about instructions from coaching staff is true - - the NFL cannot make an example of Incognito ALONE. The "just following orders" defense doesn't work anymore.

If I have a client who orders me to make an illegal trade in the market and I make it, I'm going to have repercussions.

The indefinite suspension is already a repercussion. Whether it goes any further is anyone's guess.

First, can you please grow the f up and stop the personal insults, you are embarrassing yourself, and as a mod Ian as well.

You seriously have to be kidding me.

You have been crying that context doesn't matter, and now you are wrapping yourself in the context blanket?

The discussion was about the preception by Martin of the N word by Incognito, and whether it is an acceptable parlance within their group (since it is among A-As, does it extend to teammates in the culture of NFL OL?). This is a valid question, and would have a dramatic effect on the impact of that word being used.
The fact that Pouncey accepts it is THE ONLY FACT WE HAVE that goes toward providing CONTEXT to this question.

But I know you know this, and have dug yourself into a hole with your stubborness, that now has turned to personal insults and changing the goalposts into hockey nets.
You are better than that, maybe you should step back from this discussion for a while.

Where did I say there were no repercussions?
Every decision has repercussions. He chose to chip in for the trip AND chose to not attend. THAT had repercussions as well, specifically to his bank account.

Who "indicted" him????

The FACTS were that he left this voicemail. The voicemail as transcribed is FACT.

That was plenty to support that Incognito should be SUSPENDED INDEFINITELY until further investigation.

What is also FACT is that Incognito is a walking cancer. 14 years of college and professional football has clearly proven that - - getting kicked off Nebraska, Oregan, St. Louis and now this pretty little incident. Has he been merely "misunderstood" repeatedly?

Please, prove to us why the earth isn't flat, Andy.

"....And if the people who suspended him instructed him to do it, that doesnt change your perspective?"

No - does it change YOURS?- - the possibility that the coaching staff put him up to this does NOT mean that Incognito is off the hook. "I was just following orders" was pretty much thrown out as an excuse over 60 years ago.

Of course the point goes over your head in your attempt to spew.

Your argument is the fact that he was suspended is all the proof you need. You have said this 100 times.
The question is that if the person who suspended him is the person who instructed him to do it, that has to impact your argument that the suspension is all the proof you need.

Unbelievable.

Like I said earlier - - straight from the Whitey Bulger playbook.

God bless those shop owners in Southie who (hopefully) don't have to go through those kind of "repercussions to their bank accounts" again........otherwise their faces would have to "get in the way of his fist".

How dumb would a coach have to be to instruct Incognito to "toughen him up"? It's not like this came out of left field, Richie's been a notoriously sadistic ******* for his entire football career. Just a weird move and really poor judgment all around.

I have no inherent problem with hazing in its more harmless, team-building forms, and I have no problem with veterans policing and toughening up rookies, but anyone who thought that Richie Incognito could handle the job is simply an idiot.

You are 100% totally, entirely making up that.
Please show me any comment from anyone anywhere that says Martin faced physical danger by not handing over $15,000.

You are working on getting your picture in the dictionary next to proof of a weak argument, as you have moved from strawmen to personal insults to sensationalism.
Nice work by you.

Perhaps the FBI will be looking into Incognito and his Miami Mafia.
