Once again, one would have thought someone called "Patsinthesnow" would be cognizant of the effect weather has on a football game strategy.

I'd still take him today over Gost. Gost has been a bit shaky lately and Adam always seems to make the big kick. I believe he made a 50+ yd game winner and another fairly long one last season.

.....and missed 22.2% of his kicks overall.

What's your point? The two impressive ones trump the whole season?

I think salary cap hits always come into play when assessing just about any player, but there's also the aspect of him being somewhat shaky/inconsistent recently. The truth of how accurate that really is probably lies smack in the middle of both sides that people tend to take. While it's certainly true on some level, many probably also tend to overrate it at the same time.

Like I said before, I don't see any way in hell why he'd be replaced seeing as how our replacement wouldn't be able to do some of the things as well. Gost has excellent kickoffs, actually tackles people, and plays the game hard; so those traits have to be factored into the argument too.

I would think that as long as he plays around to his annual numbers he'll definitely finish his pact here. He may/may not be extended. Only time will tell.

Early candidates for potential cap savings next season would definitely be Connelly, Gregory, and Fells--who range from 3 million to 1.75. I'd also think that some restructuring/extensions to both Wilfork/Mankins may be considered also.

Yeah, the only real questions are whether or not he'll be here next year to finish out his pact at a 3m cap hit, and whether or not he'd be extended after that to continue his career here.

We'll know more in the offseason if/when they decide to bring another kicker in for some competition, which could always be a possibility on a Belichick coached team for a player who has a higher cap hit and whose pact is expiring; but he's obviously safe for 2013.

Personally I don't see both Wendell and Connelly being extended, and Connelly will be in the final deal of his pact at a somewhat higher cap hit.

He's got back issues, is coming off of a somewhat recent shoulder surgery, and hasn't been able to take part in any activity to this point. He's obviously safe for this year, but he's hardly safe for next year too--especially considering that a decision will have to be made with Wendell.

For what it's worth, Connelly was obviously the weakest link on the offensive line last year too. Let's not act like he's a wall that enables Tom Brady to continue his career. Stating that "we'll get Brady killed" if we cut Connelly next year is borderline ridiculous in my opinion.

If anything, a high round offensive lineman pick is forseeable in our future for 2014. On top of that, McDonald may very well be on the shadow roster with a nod/wink deal to return once fully healthy; not that I think it makes that much of a difference either way. Marcus Cannon could play RG too, couldn't he? And for a much cheaper cost. One way or another we're going to reload with a higher to mid round draft pick on the O-line very soon.

FWIW, I know he failed a physical, but I'm not sure if it was lack of conditioning or injury.

The Pats will need Gost more than ever this year since our red zone O is going to be a huge question mark in the beginning.

I'd say if he's 80% from 40-49 and 50% beyond 50, keep him otherwise let the search begin

I do know what people mean though about holding their breath when this guy kicks. That Arizona miss stung the whole season and the no. 1 seed went down the tubes after we lost that freebie game

Never really thought about that. Would hate to see him go because he does a good job at both guard and center. As long as Dante is around I don't see Tom Brady getting killed. Guy has shown time and time again he can put together a quality offensive line with whoever he is given.

Sorry, 4th and 13 was the Game That Should Not Be Mentioned, SB 42. If BB has more confidence in the kicker in that spot, he goes for the makeable indoor minus-50 FG.

I doin't know who they should replace Ghost with now. I don't know that they should for sure given the options. I just worry about Ghost and would have preferred they kept Graham way back when and brought in some competition this season.
