NFLN morons: Patriots will "take a step back" this season

Good points, particularly regarding Dobson. It seems as though some in the media, particularly radio people, are just taking it for granted that Dobson and Boyce will be recreations of Taylor Price and Chad Jackson. Well, they could be, theoretically, but they could also end up being good players, perhaps even stars. It remains to be seen, but some just seem to be dismissing any possibility that they'll be good.

I heard Chris Price on the radio the other day and he said that the only thing he could see in comparison of Dobson to Chad Jackson and Taylor Price was the number on their jersey. Neither Jackson nor Price showed the grasp of the offense or looked as good in it early as Dobson has thus far. Doesn't mean he won't escape their fate, but the comparisons are unfair at this point.

16-0. Super Bowl Victory.

**** the haters.

I think that the Pats will be fine. Brady will put up Brady numbers like he always has. Amendola might not do exactly the same kind of things as Welker, but he'll put up a lot of production. My memory is somewhat faulty, but I don't recall Welker being an "All word receiver" until he got up here and had Brady throwing to him. If Amendola can make it through the season and not get injured, he'll put up good numbers. Edelman and Boyce have also looked good according to most reports I've seen.

It looks like Brady will have some receivers with size and speed this year. Dobson and Thompkins have been having a good camp so far, from what I have read. Can't wait to see how they do in preseason games.

I like the fact that Brady has new guys around him and think that he'll distribute the ball more. To me, this is a plus. Reasoning, I look at Detroit with Megatron putting up stupid stats, and noticed that Detroit sucked. Arizona also came to mind with Fritz putting up nice numbers, yet they have sucked as well. Spreading the ball out more means that we won't be slowed down as much by opponents trying to take certain targets away, or that injuries would be as harmful.

TE situation could be better, but Fells has looked pretty good as has Sudfeld. Won't compare to Gronk and Ahern, but will be fine especially if/when Gronk comes back healthy. Haven't read all that much about Hooooooom.

RB situation is all to the good. Pats were 7th in rushing last year with Ridley and Vereen. Have heard good stuff about Bolden, haven't heard too much positive about Blount.

That covers the skill positions. Good enough ?

WOW, That's just about the best example I've seen of why the NFLN "experts" are full of hot air..... As a few posters have said ,"Opinions are like *** Wholes, everybody has one and most stink. I personally think, since I have an ***, that the team as a whole is going to be just fine. My biggest concerns are, INJURIES, INJURIES, INJURIES. ...And a certain RB's ability to hold on to the darn ball. If most starters can stay healthy they should be fine. And as far as the "Big name" players lacking on the team, then you haven't been watching the Pats much. EDIT: Demos, this post is not directed at you, except maybe the first rib.

The Patriots scored 34.8 points per game last year. The next highest scoring team was Denver, at 30.1. That's 3.7 points per game higher. The gap between the #1 (NE) and #2 (Den) scoring teams was bigger than the gap between the #2 (Den) and #6 (NYG) teams.

Given that it will almost certainly take this team some time to get everyone on the same page (in real game situations, not just practice), I would expect them to struggle somewhat scoring points early in the year. They should ramp it up by late in the season and be an absolute juggernaut by season's end. But the overall season's totals almost certainly won't be as pretty as they were last year.

But who cares? I'd happily take some points off the board (especially early) if the D improves and they hit the postseason with an overall better team than last year. And I think that is very possible.

Okay I corrected that. So any argument you have that points to how Deus insults people?

lmao..................

If you hadn't been a Jets fan last season and a Broncos fan the season before that you would never have said this.

Thanks, every single poster was new here at some point in time. People should be more accepting of anyone who's willing to support the same team. I am still learning more about the team, but I am sure I am not the only poster here in that boat. Anyways, I give my opinions when I feel necessary.

I have nothing against you personally but what you don't seem to grasp is that you are not like other new posters because you are only supporting the patriots for one reason, Tim Tebow. Unlike 99% of the new posters who join this board you are not a Patriots fan and your allegiance will change the moment Tebow is released and joins another team, whereas the other posters who join are actually Patriot fans who will continue to be Patriot fans regardless of the moves they make, and i am a perfect example of that because I am a huge Welker fan and was really disgusted at how they dealt with him, however I'm a Patriots fan first and foremost and got over it, moved on, and continue to support this team completely.

You are basically a polite friendly guy from what i can tell and i don't have any issue with you posting here however the pretense that you are actually a Patriots fan is a little too much for me to take, as you were a Jets fan last season and would be one this season had they not released Tebow. You are a Tebow fan, period, and that's fine, like anyone else you can root for anyone or any team for whatever reason, but please don't try to pass it off as though you are really a Patriots fan because you really aren't, Tebow just happens to be here right now, and when he isn't you will follow him wherever he goes.

I will always be a Patriot fan. That doesn't mean I won't support Tebow wherever he goes. If Tebow were to leave the Pats; I can continue to support Tebow and still support the Patriots. So please don't make presumptions about my past or my future. New Pats fans should be welcomed not told why they became a fan, or why they will or won't stay a fan. You nor any other Pats fan hold the keys to the Pats fan club. We all became Pats fans at different times, support the team for different reasons etc.

Also as a Patriots fan I have donated to this site because I support the team. Your post is really kinda of stirring the pot.

This thread is an example of why I rarely bother reading this forum anymore.
But [for your own good] I really think I should let some of you know that, whatever is in the kool aid you're drinking these days, it's making you incredibly stupid.

You're welcome and have a nice day.

Not to harp on the subject too much, but it always cracks me up to hear the conspiracy theorists complain about the tapes being destroyed, instead of just assuming that they were destroyed to finally remove any doubt of an advantage and keep any tendencies and/or specific ways they were done away from anyone else.

And it's funny that Patriots haters can't tell us what could possibly be on those destroyed tapes that is so heinous that it would force the league to cover it up and destroy the taped "evidence"...

I still wonder who was spying on the Patriots practice before the Rams Super Bowl...and why "league officials" saw it and did nothing? Seems to me that spying wasn't a big deal until Belichick did it....

Not stirring the pot at all, I am just 100% skeptical about your claims of being "a Patriot's fan" and i am pretty much certain that you were rooting for the Jets last season and Bronco's the season before that, and switched allegiances as Tebow switched teams. AsI said before you can root for anyone for any reason, that's fine with me, but I am not going to buy into your claim that you are a Patriots fan because it is really pretty obvious that you are a Tebow fan and if Brady and Mallett both went down you would be thrilled that Tebow was getting to play QB QB instead of bummed out that the Patriots season was officially over.

So were you a jets fan last season and a broncos fan the season before that?

Well then believe what you want but there is no point to your post to me other than to look down and tell me who or what you think I am.

Anyways lets finish this convo and keep it moving. There are actual topics to be discussed besides this bologna.

Many have posted why the NFLN analysis may prove to be wrong.

No one has posted why the NFLN analysis is unreasonable.

And just BTW, what does a step backward really mean? Does it mean that we won't have one of the best passing offenses in the history of the NFL? Is that really so unreasonable?

Folks say that we will have a top 5 offense. Fine! That is CERTAINLY a step back compared to last year. We expect the defense to make up for that step backwards, if a whole lot of good things happen on defense.

In the end, if the NFLN analysts said that the patriots are the top team in the AFC, they would be considered UNREASONABLY optimistic (and rightfully so). We may win the Super Bowl; we are one of the favorites; NFLN knows that.

I think the claim that the Patriots will be a worse team this year is based upon a superficial analysis of this team on the whole, i actually expect them to be better when all is said and done. I do think that the questions about their receiving corps are valid but I think that because they have been a high powered receiving and scoring offense that many are taking that to mean that the questions extend to the entire team, and while i don't expect them to score as many points as they did last season i think that their offense will be more balanced and will still be a top 5 scoring offense at season's end. whether i am right or not will only be known at that point. I do expect their run game to be stronger and that Brady will be spreading the ball around more and that they will be a really good offensive team, and even though they have some questions the truth of the matter is that Brady has never had a bad year, regardless of the weapons he has had around him, and i see no reason that he will have a "bad season" this year.

The reason i believe they will end up being a better team this season is the defense, which i believe is poised to have their best year in a long long time. 2 seasons ago they had the youngest starting defense in all of football and i think that the development of Jones and Hightower as well as the re-signing of Talib and full time move of McCourty to safety, as well as the addition of A. Wilson will give them the strongest defense they have had since Crennel left town. I really see this team as a top 5 team in terms of points against and if i am right or close to right about that then this team will and up being better than last seasons team was. And they were actually a top 10 team in scoring defense last season so this jump in the standing is not simply a leap of faith but rather a belief that they will continue on the trajectory they have been on the past couple of years. i still think they will allow quite a few passing yards because teams that score 30 points a game generally do allow a high number of passing yards because opposing teams have to throw the ball heavily to try and keep up.

All in all I believe that the growth and trajectory of teams is more important just signing a few high profile free agents, which is why i expect that the rise of the Dolphins is overrated and development of the Patriots defense is underrated, but ultimately we are all just making predictions and only the season will tell who is right, but i would never bank on the TV talking heads because they generally don't do their homework and rather tend to regurgitate the memes that have been generated over the offseason.

Actually i told you that I think you are a pretty polite and friendly guy, I guess if that is "looking down on you" then I am guilty as charged. However I do think it is telling that you wouldn't answer whether you were rooting for the jets last season and bronco's the season before that.

I appreciate the part in bold. The part that I considered as "looking down on" was the questions on whether you were rooting for the jets last season and bronco's the season before that? etc As none of that matters.

Anyways it is time to move on and discuss the topics at hand.

Ivan - I will go a step further. And this is not intended to be disrespectful to Christiancat, but I don't think he knows too much about the game of football because he really doesn't talk about football in the 200 + posts that he has made.

I think that he likes Tim Tebow because of his "public persona" that he has and wherever Tebow is, then he supports that team for no other reason.

It's tough being the new cat on the block......

The more I think of it, the more I really don't care. There have been new guys that have registered here because their favorite college team(s) had star players that were drafted by the Pats and nobody really gave them a second thought. The only thing I can't stand is when the TC threads would get derailed and they (the Tebow supporters) would act like they had nothing to do with it. But I can't fault someone for registering on a team's forum because they like one player in particular. As I said, this isn't the first time it's happened.

That's a pretty amazing video. The dogs will have none of those cats' nonsense.
