I suspect that Edelman will get more work in the slot now that Hernandez is gone. Last year we had Welker and Hernandez in the slot. After all, the beginning of the year controversy surrounded the idea that Edelman might get reps in the slot taking Welker or Hernandez off the field.

Yes, I know that Edelman is likely to play only half a season. However, a half season might be useful, given the experience of our other wideouts.

I don't think there will be much debate like there was in last season's thread about JE...the fact is that we need him.

Edelman's a historically good punt returner and has flashed skills as both a slot receiver and outside receiver. He's also constantly injured, so putting too much faith in him is likely to end in disappointment.

If we could get 16 games between Edelman and Amendola that would be Amazing

I honestly don't remember hearing anything about taking Hernandez off the field. I don't think that was the idea.

I do agree with you that Edelman is one possibility. I imagine that we'll be exploring lots of other possibilities over the next couple of months.

Huge believer in Edelman here.

This is going to be his year.

He has been injured but I've seen players injured more than him and come back healthy for full seasons. People make it seem like staying healthy is physically impossible lol once a player becomes injured. Injuries are part of the game, and can happy to anybody. If that were the case, then no one at all should put much faith into ANY player because they all could get hurt at any given time during any point of the season.

This guy has ability to be explosive, both in the passing game and return game. If healthy, he could be an all out weapon, like our own DeSean Jackson. I believe he'll breakout this season. And for those that don't believe he can get deep, checkout his 56TD vs the Jets.

And all it took was Welker walking for pennies and AH murdering a dude.

Gotta stay healthy

Wasn't that a blown coverage from the roider? I do recall him getting behind the defense one game though and Brady overthrew it.

As an athlete, he is only a half-step down from Hernandez. He just needs to stay healthy.

I hope he's half as good as many here say he is. I think he's overrated on this board and will be very happy to admit I'm wrong if/when he gets out there and tears it up.

If he doesn't do well, I'm not sure how much more of a chance he can ask for, and I don't want to hear "yeah, but..." next February when it comes to JE.

It's put up or shut up time.

Yes he is.. if he stays healthy then its game on. I actually think him and Amendola could be a lethal 1 2 punch in then the knockout once Gronkowski comes back.

Not overrated, underrated. Before his injury last season, Belichick was using him more and more .. and it was paying off too. I think he has star potential and quality if healthy.

As a pure athlete and special teams player he is very promising.

As a pure WR (especially on the outside) he hasn't proven to be anything at all, and is severly overrated.

If they can find ways to get him more involved in space, he can do things if he stays healthy. I don't think it speaks well that he's going into his 5th season and hasn't been able to play an entire year.

If we're expecting him to line up outside and produce a lot, I think we should be concerned.

Like I said, once and for all JE- put up or shut up.

IMO, he's overrated. I hope I'm wrong.

he is not and never will be a star but if he can play a full 16 games he will be a mid level WR, Donald Jones and Josh Boyce will be the two best outside WR's on this team IMO

I'm hoping that you have a place for Dobson somewhere in there.
