I'm interested. But I'm worried that knowing Hall he'll want to demand a contract that overpays him. If so, then forget it.

Plus imagine what padded practices would be like with Hall and GRONK on the same field. :lol2:

I suspect that most on this board will consider almost all the top ten corner contracts to be overpaying, DITTO for wide receiver contracts.

Hall has always been known as a cheater, but if accurate this is worse than Asante. No thanks. Talib is looking better and better...

Hall, 29, was acquired by the team in 2008 after being released by the Raiders. According to Pro Football Focus, he was one of only two defensive backs to allow more than 1,000 receiving yards last season in the NFL

I spent some time down in Charlottsville, Virginia this winter and there's a running joke that Redskins fans call him "Eangelo Hall," because he can't find the "D."

No thanks, about 100 times over.

Talib is looking better and better...

If you're talking about a one year deal worth about 5.75 million, then yeah---Talib is looking fine.

Otherwise I would implore you to check out his injury history and how both of his 2010 and 2011 season ending IR injuries carried over to all of his missed time here during the end of the 2012 season (hip/hamstring).

26 missed games in 5 yrs is nothing to take lightly, and that is just the tip of the iceburg with this guy's concerns. I have a feeling many of us would be let down next season. That said, I'll be happy with a reasonable deal still.

With every alternative to Talib that hits the market, Talib and his problems look worse, in terms of a need to target him specifically and pay out big coin for him. At this point, the idea of a low offer for him that allows for other vet CBs/DEs/Ss to be added, or moving on with other options, is looking pretty darned good.

"Bedard also thinks the Patriots will be bidders for corners like Nnamdi Asomugha, Cary Williams, Keenan Lewis and Brice McCain if they are able to secure Talib’s return." Per PFT

Not an unrealistic chance Dennard would be our slot receiver in the future. I like Kyle Arrington as CB #4

Beanie Wells‘ days in Arizona are coming to an end.

Wells, a running back who is only a year removed from a 1,000-yard rushing season with the Cardinals, wrote on Twitter Monday afternoon that the team had informed him he was going to be released.

On a day in which we've seen two WRs dealt -Percy Harvin and Anquan Boldin - the Bucs are shopping another, 2010 2nd rnd pick Arrelious Benn
Somewhat intrigued.

I would be ecstatic if we could sign Nnamdi. He was way better last year than people think and give credit He was a top 3 CB. Nnamdi always wanted to play on a real contender and I hope and pray he takes a paycut to play for us when his value is at it's lowest.

I believe that Talib is an outstanding talent and has produced at a high-level in the NFL.

I also believe - and agree with you that he needs to be managed by the team that he plays for. That means on the field, off the field and taking care of himself like a professional. Personally, I don't think that was the case in TB where the coach was weak.

In the time Talib was here, he performed well (not Revis level but very well) but like you said his history with injuries and the off the field stuff certainly warrants a team to take pause in consider if he is a player to committ big money to.

I do think with a full calendar year in this organization, Talib has it in him to play damn well for this team. With that said a 3yr $18-$20m with built in performance, games played escalators and behavior clauses make it a win-win. How much money up-front is irrelevent as he'd need to give it back if he was an idiot off the field (assuming it fit well within the team's cap structure).

I kind of disagree with you there, Doc. Arrington is definitely best used in the slot. He was one of the reasons why we saw an improvement in the secondary last season, and he also held Cruz to 24 total yds in the SB loss (with a bracket scheme helping hm).

On top of that, Dennard has proven that he can play effectively on the outside in only his rookie year. There's not much reason to move him around.

The only way I could envision what you're suggesting is if Ras-I-Dowling stayed healthy and looked very good during TC. In that case he would compete for outside starting reps with Dennard potentially. Either way, I still envision Arrington in the slot if he stays, and I think that was the idea the whole time when Dowling was selected. Unfortunately, it did not work out as often as they'd have liked due to Dowling's injury.

I agree all options should be explored but as I stated in an earlier post, I think making an offer to Talib -with certain contingencies is the most prudent approach.

As it relates to upgrading the secondary, the team should not stop with Talib.

Benn hasn't had more than 450 yards receiving in a season. I like his skillset, but I can't see anyone offering more than a 7th rounder for him.

I think a 7th would be worth it for him. He was one of the heralded receiving threats coming out of Illinois in the draft, and could add that kind of deep threat option we lack.

You can never have too many good man-to-man cover DBs.

The major question to your proposal would be "what's in it for Talib?"

I think the only way he comes on a deal like that is if the market dries up and no one else offers anything better. We'll know in the next week or two.

In the meantime, a 3 yr deal averaging 6-7 million per year may still be nowhere near what the front office is comfortable with. That's actually what I'm assuming to be honest. I just can't see a fit here unless no one else really offers anything better.
