Kneejerk reactions: Post-Giants game final roster cuts edition

I don't know, the noodle arm made some throws last night. There is a difference between having adequate arm strength, a cannon arm and a noodle arm. I think Hoyer is adequate, not dramatically unlike Brady. Accuracy and decision making will trump cannon arm way more often than not unless you're running basically a vertical offense where receiver skillsets are a lot different than hereabouts. But even then those cannon arms have a way of biting you in the ass at the most inopportune and often mindnumbingly ridiculous times. If Bill threw the flag on time and Holley didn't inexplicably stop on his goal line route last night, the debate today would be trade Hoyer for a first or sign him to an extension (although neither would be valid).

This is the kneejerk reaction thread. Do try to keep up, Mo.

You may want to rephrase that.

Indeed.

The offense has looked UGLY this preseason. I would not feel comfortable with either Hoyer or Mallett taking the reigns should #12 (knock on wood THAT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN) go down. I really don't see the difference in either guy. Hoyer is more accurate but has a noodle arm, so he can't make all the throws. Mallett is less accurate and has a cannon arm, so he can't make all the throws.

Outside of Aaron Rodgers who would we feel comfortable with replacing the GOAT in the event of injury....

Final cut....Koppen if and when Waters shows up.

Cousin, I will add my worthless two cents on some roster spots. I feel that Koppen did not do enough to make this Team with his Pre Season performance Waters or not. You have three others that can play center.

I tend to agree that Cannon is more suited for guard. I would rather have a experience OT as a backup from the NFL cuts the next few days. Cannon has the experience to play OT in a pinch now. He might be the actual Waters replacement at guard but I hope #54 is on the field in 2013. If Solder or Volmer are hurt we are in trouble. Let's get a guy that can play now if need be. Perhaps a Clifton.

I think ST is where you see that Bequette makes it over Francis. His limited time in this game might translate to more reps for those who are a tougher cut. I thought over all four games he was decent. I think Bequette was more of a lock early in camp over Cunningham, who we all would have agreed with at the beginning of training camp, Cunningham was going to defecate the sleeping area again. I liked what they did in running Cunningham inside on the pass rush like Justin Tuck or JPP. They have some definite Taxi Squad prospects to keep on that D Line.

Pryor goes IR .....again...... or is a settlement cut. Enough is enough.

As I mentioned, keep only two QBs. Hoyer is not miles ahead of Mallet. Hoyer is gone in 2013 anyway.

I think Branch is a mistake. He will break down this year without question. Again with the damned Smurf WR other than Lloyd. O.K. Hernandez is more of a WR but everyone of the other WR are no match for a physical DB. I think Gaffney or Stallworth might be back and Slater is then officially a DB. You need at least one bigger WR and Holley is not the answer. I cannot see what we have at WR being set. I will say that Edelman gets more WR reps in 2012 especially if Welker is on the way out.

Holley might Taxi. He was inconsistent but heard he had a lot of superb practice catches. Nice sideline catch last night and one stupido move. The two Mallet drops, one was tipped the other too low.

I will get crap for this but I would rather have Plaxico than Branch in 2012. Before you judge me, we are talking back up WR and think of him as your back up WR over Branch who is your quicker dude but is not Edleman touted as really improved and does he not add to the kicking game. The fact that Burris was here did not go unnoticed.

Three TEs are a must. If anything to give Gronk and Hernandez a play off and they won't have to use Solder as a TE.

Really impressed with Demps because he scares people like Sproles. But...Woodhead, Vareen and Demps are all very close in skill set. I trust Woodhead. His pass blocking has been much better so far. Vareen is glass but would be a keeper if not for Demps. You have essentially three "scat backs". I say Vareen can be traded for something.

At Safety, Gregory has been impressive. A great pick up. Chung has been glass yet again. I have been impressed with Ebner. Not so much Wilson other than hype. I see what the other 31 Teams did not see in him. Maybe he works out. Who knows?

At CB Dennard looked better than I thought last night. I think Dowling starts some this year. Remember this was his first real camp and he has stayed healthy. I think he is the most physical of all the DBs....although Dennard was tough. Cole looked very decent in coverage of all things... He stays.

At LB, I still think that is Nincs position. He was mediocre as a DE in my opinion. Carpenter was not spectacular but steady. Tracy White gets an injury settlement. Koutovides and Tarpinian played well but Tarp is better in coverage. After last night Rivera might be worth a pick from LB needy Team.

You're right but there's no way Belichick will demote him.

The 2nd string D looked good again the 1st string offense who really wasn't trying.

Hopefully BB is burning up the phones trying to pick up some extra draft picks for the guys who missed the cut.

Not that kind of sew.

Sow..... sigh. I blame my old eyes, but that would be too easy. I'm just typing faster than thinking, or vice versa. :bricks:

Thanks for catching that.

I guess you'd use "sew" if you were breaking wind though, right?

If there is a better player for the spot, of course BB will.

Jesse Holley is not eligible for the practice squad, just FWIW.

3 TE's is not the question, as Gronk, Hernandez and Fells are all locks.

The question is 'what happens to Schiancoe?'

The question is 'what happens to Schiancoe?'

he legally adds "potamus" to the end of his surname and auditions for a spot in the NFL animated feature It's A Jungle Out There...good luck buddy!!

You make the call:

Jeff Demps or Shiancoe?

Brandon Bolden or Shiancoe?

Please keep in mind that Shane Vereen was injured in the Tampa Bay preseason game.

Based upon training camp and preseason, who deserved to make the 53 man roster?
