It's difficult to quantify just how unimpressed I am by Brees breaking Marino's record. It's a nice accomplishment but Marino attempted 564 passes completing 362. Going into his record breaking game, Brees had thrown 584 passes completing 417.

As I said, congratulations to Drew Brees but C'mon man.

You just made the case for Brees. He attempted 20 more passes and completed 55 more. So Brees performance was better. Plus ESPN just put up a stat showing Marinos avg per game in 1984 was 90 yards better than the leagues avg. Brees was 98.

Good, I was begging for someone to bring that up. If you watched the finale against the giants, you would remember that the pats were fighting to win that game until very late. The passes that got Moss and Brady their records were made in the course of trying to get the team the win. The only "stat" that the pats cared about was the team goal of going undefeated.
