He'd already been behind in his payments, and this situation is certainly an embarrassment to the NFL. They should suspend him for at least 4 games. I mean, since Goodell's morality is really all that counts here, and all.

Goodell is fining guys that are physically hurting others or who are carrying weapons ect: - Antonio's own personal issues with taking care of his responibility as a dad is not Goodell's worry,its the courts.

Rape and beating women in bars is a bit more damaging to the NFL's image than a guy who is a deadbeat dad.

I've always maintained that as far as rendering any decisions vis a vis the New York Jets ,he should recuse himself and have an independent arbitrator make relevant rulings. Being a former employee of the Jet ownership, it's not that there's a hint of conflict of interest, there IS a conflict of interest.

For instance, I'm working toward the bar and I spend some time clerking for a Superior Court judge, who takes me under his wing and is my mentor...years later after passing the bar and getting elevated to a judgeship myself, this same judge comes before me on a morals charge where the sentence is up to my own discretion...do I recuse myself or give the old judge a break? The flip side of this is the judge's wife has been illegally filmed by a private detective...do I throw the book at the P.I., damage his business with Draconian fines and confiscate his paraphernalia...or should I recuse myself, in the interest of propriety, and let another seated judge hear the case?

IMO, he's a menace to the stability of this league.His decisions reflect a schizophrenia that fluctuates from issue to issue, decision to decision.

Exactly. Goddell took it upon himself to pass judgment on Rberger, after the DA said he was a scumbag but unfortunately there was no evidence to convict.
Really, Goddell has put himself in the position of being required to determine the validity of accusations.

But you are missing the point. The law found there wasnt enough evidence to prove Rbergers guilt. Goddell suspended him for creating bad publicity. Isnt a deadbeat Dad bad publicity that also has been proven?
Its not a matter of which crime is worse, its really a matter of how bad the accusation is to the image of the league.
