Why Steelers take Holmes over Jackson?

Interesting question. It's possible that a) they might have turned Jackson into a good NFL player (unlikely, though) or b) that they might have dumped him as we did and drafted a replacement.

Or, Santonio Holmes could have blown his knee his rookie year while Chad Jackson turned into a stud.

What if the Pats had taken Holmes at #21 and then drafted an RB in the 2nd round? Lendale White went #45, Maurice Jones-Drew #60, and Jerious Norwood #79. Norwoods's been about as productive as Maroney. We could have taken him with out #75 pick (traded to GB along with #52 when we moved up to #36 for Jackson) and gotten Richard Marshall at CB with our #52. Many people had predicted the Pats taking Marshall at #21 that year.

I was not a big Holmes fan coming out of college, but he has developed nicely and is an impressive receiver. It's hard not to think of how nice he would look opposite Moss.

Holmes has developed into a heck of a wr. He's great in space. Good route runner. Can go deep.

Can sell drugs, smoke dope, get arrested, beat up woman, and pound out kids with the best of them. :D

I don't think Holmes was a Patriots type, charactor guy, heading into that years draft.
