Rob Gronkowski not expected play Sunday

Where did anyone say anything remotely like this?

You did, right here:

If it doesn't resolve itself, he could eventually be in danger of more surgeries and, in a worse case scenario, an amputation.

Dr andrews had nothing to do with RG3 going on the field too soon. That was redskins team doctors and shanahan. Andrews is merely a consultant for the team, not their actual doctor. At least get your facts straight.

By being on the sidelines, the implication is that he was complicit in that decision. Perception is reality.

Thank God he was there or they may have amputated.:D

It is a ****ing joke. Get over yourself. I am just making a play on the fact Ben Volin says the Pats cleared Gronk to play and people saying that in a worse case scenario will need his arm amputated.

He doesn't take jokes too well. You should know this by now Rob!

Did Gronk ask Team Gronk or his Dad permission before body slamming a wrestler in Las Vegas or lifting bikini-clad models with his arms in the off-season. Did Rosenhaus put him on the phone w/ Dr. Andrews?

Team Gronk is this close to having Gronk be in a place where no athlete should be in a team sports: viewed by his teammates as selfish.

Volin has it right in the Globe. There is no guarantee against injuries in sports. So suck it up, Gronk......... or..................

Why are you angry at him that he may not be healed enough for all doctors to say he should play?
Are you suggesting he should go against the advice of doctors, because its the manly thing to do?

I HAVE AN IDEA PEOPLE! Listen up!

Just amputate the goddamn arm and let the Gronk in there. He'll carry us one-handed just as well!

Case over, move on.

This was routine procedure that is performed on tons of people, athletes and non athletes alike. There is no basis to call the decision to have the surgery negligent other than your 100% hindsight.

Hate to break it to yea, but anytime you have surgery where you are cut open and have a metal plate with screws inserted into your arm, that ain't routine. Both the team and player rushed back and we are seeing the result of rash decisions without the best clarity on the situation.

What will people here talk about after he goes on ir?

You have no idea that it's anything even remotely that bad. If worst comes to worst he may stay off the field until after the bye week, and return in about 6 weeks from now.

IR shouldn't have to be an option at this point, after all Gronk himself stated last week that he'd be returning "if it's this week, next week, or the week after."

I think there are a lot of negative nancies on the forum right now.

He is on the road back, we just don't know when he will return. Understandably, everyone is anxious for his return and equally understandably, he wants to be confident in his health.

Here is the oracle of ESPN with his Drew Rosenhaus insider comment:

RT @AdamSchefter: As of 5pm Sat, Pats Gronkowski still had not been cleared by doctors to play Sun vs NO. w/out clearance, he will not play.

So Gronk is hiding behind anonymous doctors who give him permission to practice -- without monitoring his performance. And yet, from remote location-- they r supposed to "clear" Gronk to play -- after a good week of prcatice.

Give me a break. The guy has lost his nerves.

Considering the way that everything has gone, can we honestly fault him for bringing in outside consultants?

I think that you may be right that there may be some "lost nerve" factor at the moment, but when you take everything into account, it kind of makes sense. He just wants to have everyone agree that he is okay and that things have healed properly enough etc.

Even when/if he returns he will no doubt have a fear of anyone tackling him anywhere near his forearm and will certainly result in problems in going into traffic and being relentless like he used to be.

We may have to endure a scared Gronk for awhile at best when he returns...its likely laying as a thought in his head and it may affect his play.

21 weeks......that's how long it's been since Gronkowski had his final arm surgery where it was found that there was no further infection.

Now, obviously, none of us have all the facts, but in my experience (having had metal screws inserted during an operation) I can't see how anyone can say that Gronkowski is being rushed back.

Personally, I was pretty much fine after 8 weeks. Now, I wasn't being hit by 250 pound linebackers, but I didn't notice any difference between week 8 or 12 or 16 or 20 of my recovery.

If it is his arm, and he's been practicing with the team for 6 weeks, does this mean that he's had no contact...at all?

How many injuries can you think of where the person isn't ready by week 21 but is ready by week 22?

I've been researching the "healing rate" of bones in the arm. Obviously, there are many factors that are involved but the worst case scenario I found (outside of someone's arm being crushed) took about 12 weeks to heal.

Now, we know that the infection was gone when they opened him up for this last arm surgery and we know that he has been practicing these past 6 weeks. We also know that he had back surgery about 17 weeks ago (slowing down his recovery) and that this was not his first surgery on his arm.

I don't begrudge Gronkowski making long term decisions rather than making poor short term decisions. But I'm still having a difficult time understanding how someone could be practicing with the team for 6 weeks and still not be ready and I certainly can't see how the Patriots can be accused of "rushing him back" when they've already waited 21 weeks.

This thread is all sorts of crazy!

That is all.

Re: Re: Rob Gronkowski not expected play Sunday

You have a real quality to assume you know things you don't know then treat them as fact.

I think that is a quality we both share

Re: Re: Rob Gronkowski not expected play Sunday

So now Wilforks injury was preventable and a case of stupidity?

Do you have anything more to support your implication that it wasn't? The way I see it we both are offering baseless opinions.
