Rob Gronkowski not expected play Sunday

Did you stay in a Holiday Inn Express last night? Yes, you are exaggerating. In other news, the sky is blue. We have to put up with you pretending to be a football expert, please spare us your medical expertise. Before you ask, I do have a medical degree.

While I generally find Deus arrogant and annoying I'm trying to find error in what he's saying here, and I can't.

It's an unfortunate situation with Gronk, I think it was stupid of BB to put him in on that play but it's done, and if the risk is serious enough I'd much rather IR him now and have him do whatever he needs to fix the forearm so maybe he'd be ready for next season.

I also wouldnt count on him in any long term plans, I think he's going to have a short career, which makes it necessary to seriously look at other TE options.

My thinking is 4-5 weeks will suffice and if he is ready in 1-2 or 3-4 I would still wait until after the bye and give him the extra time ever if its err on the side of caution. There is no super bowl on the line right now, we play in a weak division which we should win handedly, so rushing this kid back seems as stupid as us having Wilfork out there with an injury issue early in the season.

Its just my opinion.

But your opinion has no fact to it. You don't know when he will be ready, nor do you know if any extra weeks would make it any better. In other words you decided to pick a day then create a bunch of ifs to reason it out.

So now Wilforks injury was preventable and a case of stupidity?

You have a real quality to assume you know things you don't know then treat them as fact.

This isn't a muscle pull. According to reports, it's a bone infection issue. If it doesn't resolve itself, he could eventually be in danger of more surgeries and, in a worse case scenario, an amputation.

Under those circumstances, the "no one is 100%" argument doesn't really apply.

This board has finally jumped the shark.
Questionable, day to day and not yet cleared by the doctor has turned into his arm is going to be amputated.

Yup, Gronkowski isn't going to be an allpro TE he is going to be an amputee.
Then Deus Irae can figure out a way to blame it on Belichick.

This is the stupidest post in the history of this board.

in other news, those that actually have knowledge of his medical condition consider him questionable for tomorrow, day to day, and earlier this week felt he was likely to play. I can see how that adds up to he may never play again.:bricks:

Some of the arguments for Gronk not playing don't make 'common' sense.

If Gronk still had an infection or lack of stability in his forearm Belichick would not have him practicing or calling him "day to day" and "questionable". He would just be "out".

It simply seems to me that Gronk has decided not to listen to the team's medical staff-- which feels he can play on Sunday as well as Monday thru Friday as he has been for weeks. And feels it's best to wait for other DR's Andrews and Jupiter to give the OK.

Tom Curran reported that some players are practicing with Gronk and wondering why the hell he isn't playing on Sunday, yet he's blocking, catching, and being tackled every other day-- for weeks.

Look, I understand the need to make sure that Gronk his "fully healed" but the team wouldn't have him practicing and playing football all week if he wasn't physically able.

Here's Dr. James Andrews examining Rob Gronkowski this morning. Reportedly, Gronk told Dr. Andrews he's good to go and it's just a scratch:

I'm not sure what your problem here is. I wasn't exaggerating. You may recall Zsa Zsa Gabor having to have an amputation after she suffered a bone infection following a hip implant. The reality is that the range of complications from bone infection includes "no problem" at one far end, and amputation at one far end, and Gronk has obviously somewhere in between, so far. This isn't just playing through a mild sprained ankle. The prudent thing to do here is to make sure the person is fully cleared by a doctor they have confidence in, as opposed to worrying about what fans and other players think. You don't want him returning before the bone is solid, getting that bone re-broken, and needing another operation which could subject him to further risks.

And if you had a medical degree, you'd have known that.

FWIW, Ben Volin over at the Globe says his sources say the Pats have cleared Gronk to play, but will respect Gronk as far as when he is ready to return. Also, he says that Dr. Andrews is advising Gronk, but is not going to make the call when he is medically cleared to play:

A league source told the Globe Friday that the decision to return to the field is mostly up to Gronkowski, and the team is understanding of that. The team has cleared Gronkowski to return, and Gronkowski’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, uses Andrews for many of his second opinions. But in this case, Andrews is not an expert in forearm injuries and will likely not be the one to clear Gronkowski to play again, according to the league source.

Gronkowski’s camp has advised the tight end to be cautious and listen to the advice of Andrews, but Andrews won’t be the one who says go play, the source said.

The issue with Rob Gronkowski is his arm, not his back - Sports - The Boston Globe

Saying the player may need an amputation because we don't know if he will play this week is about the biggest exageration ever made on this board.
Doubling down with Zsa Zsa Gabor is priceless.

I just hope that Wilfork doesn't have to get his leg amputated like Zsa Zsa Gabor or Lieutenant Dan.

So let me get this straight? The Pats may have already medically cleared Gronk to play even though he may eventually need his arm amputated? Maybe people are right and this medical staff sucks royally.

Or...people on this board are looney.

Welcome to the board.

Where did anyone say anything remotely like this?

There isn't a shred of substantiated reporting in that entire Boston Globe article. It's all speculation layered on rehashing of speculation by other "reporters".

It's really disgraceful what passes for "reporting" these day. Shame on any of us who take it seriously.

really surprised at this

Yaah, I'm sure that Zsa Zsa's medical history is directly relevant to Gronk. Don't let the Globe reporters know or they'll do a five-part investigative "journalism" report...

Zsa Zsa was 94 years old when she had her leg amputated. She was wheelchair bound, paralyzed, and had suffered two strokes. As Belichick would say, she is (literally) day-to-day at this point. Same as Gronk.

It is a ****ing joke. Get over yourself. I am just making a play on the fact Ben Volin says the Pats cleared Gronk to play and people saying that in a worse case scenario will need his arm amputated.
