You need to take a walk in the Sunshine, my friend.

Does no good wondering what could have been.

Hell, the 1964 Pats went 10-3-1 and didn't make the playoffs. Compete every year is all you can ask, and we do.

No of course not - but there is no quicker way to generate "controversy" on this board than having an opinion that differs from the masses.

Just admit "you're wrong" - why is it so difficult to accept that your opinon is invalid?

It is very, very important to argue purely unproveable hypotheticals that have nothing to do with football. I salute your tenacity, and feel I can rest easy knowing the job will get done.

Please explain what one has to do with the other. Why do they HAVE to lose so they get to the Super Bowl? How was being 18-0 a detriment?

The theory I believe - discussed here during the season though it was a bit of an 800 lb. gorilla - would be that the pressure of having the weight of the "Perfect Season" on their shoulders had a detrimental affect, culminating in an extraordinarilly high amount of pressure in the Super Bowl, with their opponents really having none.

There might be some truth to that - how much we'll never know. But is there a particular reason such a theory should be ridiculed?

Let's say they were 15-1, losing the Eagles game. They still had all the other records and would have been just as expected to win as they were. They had been penciled in as Super Bowl champs since the Moss trade...if anything put pressure on them, it was that.

I'm sorry, but the only time I cheer for my team to lose is when I am watching Isiah Thomas and James Dolan kill my Knicks a little bit more.

Does me wanting to see the Pats go 18-0 into Super Bowl 43 again make me a bad fan?
