Default ESPN Article on Spoelstra - Sounds a LOT like Young Belichick

NBA playoffs: Miami Heat's Erik Spoelstra has had a unique journey to sideline - ESPN

Great article on ESPN about Spoelstra, one of the league's good guys and up and coming elite coaches.

His background, his demeanor, his immense knowledge of the game sounds a LOT like a young Bill Belichick.

Good article. I mentioned the other day on here that Spoelstra reminds me of basketball's version of a young Belichick.

There is also a Heat-Mavericks thread, and an all Lakers thread in this folder. Go take your WHINE somewhere else.

Their "gay" coach is still coaching while Doc Rivers is resting his vocal chords at home and watching the Heat.

SORRY.

Spoelstra looked completely clueless on what he should be doing. I really don't get the young Bill Belichick comparison.

I guess we can drop the Belichick comparisons. James is an idiot, but he's very good. When he is having trouble on the floor the coach has got to take some of the responsibility. The coach could not devise any set plays which would use James too some advantage in the fourth quarter of the last couple of games?

There's not much you can do as a coach when one of your 100 million dollar men can't hit the side of a barnyard with a basketball in clutch situations.

The most over used phrase this Finals series was "still trying to figure it out". Correct me if I am wrong but these guys are almost 10 year veterans. They know how to figure things out.

The reality is LeBron simply isn't as good as he wants people to think he is. He's a great talent but that only gets you so far.

You really can't pin any of last nite's loss on Spoelstra. Or any of the losses. Lebron played completely scared and timid in the Finals, and there's no question about it. He passed up wide open shots to give the ball to guys like Juwan Howard or Haslem to shoot instead. It was pathetic, and his legacy will be crushed this summer, until he next has a chance to rebuild it.

I don't see that series ending in 6 with Pat Riley as the coach.
