Can beat it week 7 vs jets...so you think he will break it?

Couldn't care less as long as he hoists the Lombardi trophy.

I don't see why not.

Unless, of course, the Saints have a bounty on him in week 6 and knock him out of the game before he gets one, thus ending his streak one short.

of course I think he will but it's really a crapshoot.....after all, the game last season in which he came closest to NOT throwing a TD pass was ..........(drumroll please).........

the home opener against the Arizona Cardinals

He threw a TD to Gronk with under 3 minutes to go.

The better question is, will Drew Brees' son be in the stands congratulating Brady?:biggrin1:

Interesting; NFL.com had a slideshow of Patriots stats and included this:

With 48 straight games with a touchdown pass, Tom Brady is on pace to break Drew Brees' record of consecutive games with a touchdown pass (54) in Week 7 against the New York Jets. Compared to Brees' first 48 games during the streak, Brady holds a better record (39-9 vs. 34-14), has thrown fewer interceptions (24 vs. 51), and boasts a better passer rating (104.6 vs. 101.4) than Brees. It's only fitting that Brady would have a shot at breaking the record against the Jets, the team he first faced when replacing Drew Bledsoe as quarterback in 2001.

Pretty good, especially considering Brees plays at least half his games in a dome. I bolded the interception comparing because it's pretty striking.

Yes I think he can and will break it . I think the hardest game he has had was vs.the cardinals last year. If he is to break it he would break it vs. the jets in week 7 at MetLife witch would make it even better.

Why is this record such a big deal? It's so specific. It seems like every year some well-known player breaks a record I didn't know even existed just to boost jersey sales.

I agree, it ignores the playoffs so I feel as though it doesn't really count. Brees made a huge deal about it when his team was still losing which I thought was pretty ridiculous. Don't see Tom caring much.

I think he will...not that regular season streaks mean anything. Brady threw zero TD passes against the Ravens in the 2012 AFCCG.

Reminds me of when the Colts were going to beat the Patriots "record winning streak" - except we all knew it was sham because ours counted the playoffs and the Patriots beat the Colts in the playoffs in the middle of their "streak".

For the fun of it?

How about that, huh? Geesh, it's not like anyone here is saying they'd rather he broke this "record" than win a Lombardi.

Probably the main reason I'd like him to break it is because he and the Pats WON'T stop the game and make a big fuss over it, unlike that embarrassing show by Brees.

As much as Bill pretends it doesn't matter I think he is aware of important records and tries to make them happen as long as it doesn't interfere with winning.

If we're behind by 5 with a min left, and it's 4th and and inches to the endzone and Brady hasn't thrown a TD; I doubt he'd risk losing the game by passing when a qb sneak would be the greatest chance of winning.

But if we're up 21-7 with a min left and its 4th and goal and Brady hasn't thrown TD, I think Bill would let his player have a chance at continuing the streak since the game's outcome is already known.

So yes, I think Brady will break the streak cause I think they'll make every effort to keep the streak alive.

I'd think he's a pretty big favorite to break the record unless we start running the ball a whole lot more in the red zone.

my guess to catch the winning pass....vereen

Drew Brees joined this forum and voted no.

In 2007, Tom Brady threw his 50th TD pass of the season to Randy Moss to break the record... If the opportunity presents itself, I hope they run a play for Gronk so he can be the one who catches the record breaking TD this time. A great WR for one record and a great TE for the other one. I know Gronk's career is still young, but if it all goes well by the time he retires he could end up as one of the best Tight Ends of all time and I think that would be pretty cool.

i don't see them running a specific play for one guy to get it over another..whoever is open or open in the endzone will get it!

We're not facing any super dominant defenses.
This year we're going to need to win with offense.
It's only a few more games.

I'd be shocked if any of the teams we face manage to shut us out.
The team only remotely capable is the @ Bengals game.
