why we want the 3 seed vs 4

If the Pats do end up playing the Colts in the playoffs, I have one thing to say: 2 point conversion. BB will have that two point conversion that the Goober and Dungy went for when they were up by 20 points with 2 minutes left, on a continuous loop, on the video screens in the locker room. He will play it all week.

Doesn't anybody here want to play these Colts?
You have to understand that this board is full of "fans" who do not believe we can beat a good team, certainly not two of them in a row, so they feel our best hope is to sneak into the SB by the back door. To me, that is the ultimate disrespect of your team, right up there with hoping an opposign QB gets hurt so we can "steal" a win.

They are the ones that are happy Vick missed the game agaisnt us, feeling evidently that we couldn't beat Atlanta if he played.

I think that on any given Sunday we can beat any given team, any given where.

Three or four seed, it doesn't matter. If you can't beat the other teams in the playoff field, then you really aren't the Champ, are you?

End of rant.

IMO, we want the three seed for four reasons:

1- It's a BIG mistake to say we "want" J-ville over the Steelers. "Famous last words" department

2-The lead poster's right. It gives us a chance, albeit slim, to host the Title game.

3-Any game on the road will be tough. So, Denver, Indy, Cincy? All tough.

4-To quote Herman Edwards, "You play to win the game." Win Sunday and let the chips fall where they may.

Uh.... it was 19 points and there was just under 6 minutes left. Many of the pats fans here thought it was the right thing to do. I'm afraid if that's going to be used for BullBoard material, it's going to put the poor players to sleep. Hopefully our liquored up kicker will be bound and gagged at any media opportunity.

I'm Bringing the Pain

First of all, Colts poster, please go away till after the bye week. Thank you.

Let me clarify a bit. I do think we can beat anybody. My point was that I don't think there is any "favorable" seeding. All the games will be tough, esp. since we might have to play 2 on the road. My point being that Jax-Colts may not be any easier than Pitt-Denver.

As it was said by a previous poster. Let the chips fall where they may.

Of all the people to quote!

No way! This site is way too much fun, and after the Colts, the Pats are my favorite team! (I know that's hard to fathom, but seeing a great team beat your home team like the Patriots have garners some serious respect, at least from me. Face it, both teams have been putting on quite a show the last few years! And that's so welcome after most of the previous couple of decades in the AFCE cellar, isn't it?) I also love watching the troll hunts and Colts on the brain conspiracy theory threads. I'll never get offensive about your team (they're great) nor will I whine about anything. Your team has earned everything they have achieved. Now go and have fun!

a #2 seed is impossible... also, no matter what your seed, you cant have more than 2 playoff games at home.

Thanks - I didn't think Denver was playing a double header today but you've cleared it up for me.

I would much rather have #3 since the Pat's would meet the Bronco's who right now the Pat's match up well against.

Meanwhile there is always that chance that the Colt's could lose their first playoff game and that would, assuming the Pat's win, bring the Championship game home to Gillette!

How could anyone not like that!

I prefer the #3 for the original reason mentioned: it's one more team you have HFA against. That and the bye week are the biggest factors in the playoffs.

Good point. Jax is not a typical Florida team. They're built more like an AFC Central team that can grind it out and play smash mouth football, in the heat or cold. Let's play Pitt, (hopefully get a lead,) stop the run and make Big Ben throw the ball 30 times. We'd be in great shape to win that game, IMO. After the first playoff game, anything can happen.

Shaygetz! What the hell are you doing, posting on shabbas???????

Totally agree.

Everyone overestimates Denver. We almost beat them without even playing football in the first half --- IN DENVER!

It is better to face Denver than Indy. Saving Indy until our 3rd game rather than our 2nd postseason game, gives Indy one extra chance to get upset and eliminated before we face them.

That is all that needs to be said.

I think that you might be overestimate Indy a little. IMO Denver is a better team than the Colts - but then again they both have failed miserably in the PO resently.

I wan´t the #4 seed because:

1. Jax (Florida team) in Foxboro in January = Pats Win without a doubt.

2. Well maybe Denver isn´t that good (we almost beat them @ Denver with half a team), but I find Indy even less scary especially after their starters haven´t played in almost a month + come PO, Manning becomes a big time choker + Brady´s a killer indoor with those monsterbombs to our WRs and TEs (he has never lost an indoor game and he isn´t going to lose a big game playing indoor - no way).

So the way I see it, if the Patriots get the 4. seed they have a very good chance at making it to the AFCCG at least. With a 3. seed they might beat Pittsburgh at home, but I don´t feel so sure about a Div. Playoffgame @ Denver and if we get the 3. seed and win the wild-card-game, we will have to play in Denver in the 2. round no matter what. Anyway I think that this team will a least make it to the 2. round of the PO - I think that they can beat both Pitt and Jax but I think that Jax will be easier.

GO PATS.
