Why Lamar Jackson-Ravens Drama Could Ultimately Become Patriots Problem

Assuming Jackson isnt hurt. Again.

Jackson is getting injured more frequently and the injuries are more severe. Sooner or later the big one is coming that will spell the end of his career. Pro Running backs and running QBs have a short shelf life in the NFL.

That means you should be on the Mac Jones bandwagon. Right, clodhopper?

I can play that game too, if Pats had a competent OC they'd have been 2nd by 3-4 games.

not to mention if refs made proper calls
-Henry's TD wrongly overruled-
-Raiders WR being clearly out of bounds
-Stevenson's forward progress clearly stopped before the ball was punched out (literally had the same thing go against them a week later when refs called the Dolphins RB progress stopped when he fumbled)
-Let's not even talk about how hosed they got by refs in Buffalo (massive holds on the 2 TD returns, not calling blatant DPI in the end zone, calling Henry for OPI that was just him running his route)

That's 3 wins turned into losses at the hands of blatantly bad ref calls

8-9 should have been 11-6, maybe even 12-5
Dude, 12 wins? The last three seasons they've lost 9, 8 & 9 games. That's a trend. Loss totals would have been higher had they not faced so many rookie and backup quarterbacks.

Now they're resetting their offense (again) so when they lose 9 games next season you'll have a new excuse and kicking the can to 2024.

Are we given up on the careers of Allen, Hurts and Fields too??

That has nothing to do with my post, I think you mean to address the clodhopper.

No, Allen weighs 250 lbs and can absorb more hits, but in the end all running QBs start to get hurt more than is necessary. Think about it if your the ravens GM. You are going to invest 35-40MM/yr for a talent that WIL:L miss significant time. You have to run a particular offensive system that the league IS catching up with. Bottom line, if you can't trust your QB to be there then you aren't going to win consistently

I'm fine with him protecting his future earnings by not playing now. His first duty is to his family, nuclear and extended, and to anyone else that depends on his finances. Second duty is to the team and winning. That's how every NFL player should order it (and generally does). If the Ravens didn't solve the first part so he can attend to the second part without hesitation, shame on them.

The reality is that the thought of Lamar signing a record setting contract is raising more red flags than Russell Wilson's, or should.

I don't care, let the Jets sign him, it will be another fiasco.

It's an interesting discussion. Lamar's among the most entertaining player's in the league when he's available. I'm excited for the careers of Hurts and Fields. Especially Fields who's got decent size and an incredible instinct for running. He made a lot of defenders look completely helpless this season. Fields needs to improve his passing but he also had the worst WRs in the NFL.

Why is it that the Ravens wont give Jackson the money he wants?

What are they afraid of? Paying for a QB who is destined for IR?
I know this, that team is nothing without him. They're looking at a major reset if they lose Lamar by FA or trade him (by way of franchise tag).

Personally I want him out of Baltimore, he deserves a better, more balanced team. There's speculation about NYJ which would be a great fit for Lamar.

I'm confused. The article says he's in the last year of his rookie contract yet talks about trading him. How is that possible if he'll be a free agent? Unless they slap the franchise tag, I guess, but that's not discussed in the article.

Lamar has never had an elite receiver or running back he would have both with the Jets.
I’d rather we right our wrong and go for him than see him on the Jets or Phins.

Lamar excels because there is a great roster surrounding him in Baltimore. Well coached, and with an offense that maximizes his talents. They have a very solid offense. But the Jets.. that's something else.

If Lamar signs with the Jets, he's going to get a nasty surprise when the GM and the OC gives him a fork to make soup with.

But I'm all for it. I'm cool with the Jets bombing their salary cap management back to the stone age for the next 5 years. More comedy.

Come again? Jets have an elite RB and WR?
WR is OROY and their back was set to run away with the award if he didn’t get hurt.
That was a different team beginning of the year.
When their First round Runningback went down they went one dimensional.
That kid was a threat to score every time he touched the ball.

...his head so far up Lamary's azz he's got cornpone and grits all over his stupid azzed face...

You usually need to pay extra for that

....and how many games has he missed already.

And again I reiterate for the umteenth time, QB's DO NOT make or break football TEAMS!!!! Otherwise, the Bears wouldn't have the first pick in the draft this year. Is Brock Purdy the next coming of Tom Brady, OR are the Niners a really good football TEAM. QB's are the most important players on the offense, simply because they touch the ball on virtually every play. BUT as we SHOULD have seen over the years, defense and ST's play important roles too. We probably are in the playioffs if we played better special teams in Buffalo

If you base your entire efforts finding the ultimate QB, then you will end up neglecting the other aspects of your game. Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford, Dashaun Watson, Justin Hurbert and the aforementioned Lamar Jackson are ALL exceptionally talented QB's who have put up tons of great INDIVIDUAL stats over the years, and yet only Rodgers and Stafford ever won anything (and only ONCE) and then only when they had LOADS of talent around them.

Just sayin', because I don't want anyone to lose sight of the FACT, that having that top 5 QB throwing to a top 5 receiver is NOT a guarantee to success, especially in an age where injuries seem so prevalent. In order to win today you TRULY need a deep 53 man roster and help on you PS. I believe the only way top heavy, all in teams can win is if they are very, VERY lucky with their health,
