Why haven't Drake's fundamentals been fixed?

Yes, Brady had his QB coach. It was NOT the OC who helped Brady develop. It was his QB coach and his conditioning guru.
That is so wrong

Or it is the head coach like Brady had, BRILLIANT Analysis by Brady on developing QB's. Might be good thing we have Josh. Must watch!

Ton Brady? Why didn’t we draft that guy instead of Maye?

Seriously, my only hope is that the fan base and media have the patience to allow Maye to develop. He has less than 3/4 of a season of starting experience. Nothing we saw last week should be surprising. We knew Maye had mechanics issues, we knew he makes mistakes trying to play hero ball, we knew he would be the second youngest starter in this league.

The offseason was so exciting that it clouded our understanding of the timelines of Maye’s development. We shifted from expecting a 3-4 year learning curve to expecting success in year two. I’m guilty of this as well. Maye’s development so far compares favorably to Josh Allen’s. Here’s Allen’s 2019 game logs for reference.

Allen became elite in year three. So did Stafford. Baker Mayfield emerged as a top 12 guy in year six. Rodgers and Love sat for years. Goff, Geno, Darnold all took several seasons to mature. Fields is in year 5 and, based on Sunday’s performance, could finally be developing into a reliable starter. The point is, the trend of QBs arriving fully formed is still the exception, not the rule.

Nobody wants to wait for this thing to coalesce, but nothing would be worse than watching Maye tearing it up in a Steelers or Colts uniform in 2030. We’re looking at the most physically gifted QB this franchise has ever seen, I just hope the fanbase has the wisdom to wait this out.

I wasn't a fan of his at all when I first saw him but he's come a long way. Hopefully Maye will do the same.

Maye's been in a tough spot. He's had constant changes to the coaching staff and a supporting cast that's as weak as any in the NYFL.

Well, now he has one of Brady’s QB coaches as an OC and an HC who know as much about defenses as nearly anyone. If he needs help, he needs to ask for it.

The type of offense Brady was in had a major effect on his success.

Nobody, but NE ran the Spread Offense in 2001. It allowed Brady to see all his matchup's presnap. and choose the best target even if it was a 5 yard gain. Also, the NE defense allowed Brady to not get in a shootout. The NE defense only allowing 17 points in a total of 14 games kept the game within reach. Furthermore, the Pats defense bend dont break style created long time consuming drives for the opposition that sometimes ended with only 3 points.

Which coach(s) was most responsible for Tom Brady's QB development... he already told us.

Listen to this interview starting at the 9:30 mark:

Unfortunately the haters here are going to be so distraught at Tom's answer, we're going to have to hear how he was born perfect out of the womb.

Thanks, that was great. Made me appreciate TB all over again. That was Tommy at his best.

Alec Guerrero didn't come along until 2004, until that point Mike Woicik was the strength and conditioning coach who bulked him up 15-20 pounds from his rookie to sophomore season.

And neither of these ^ guys taught him how to actually play the QB position... that was **** Rehbein for a season, Charlie Weis and Bill Belichick.

And you somehow know that he isn’t doing that?

I didn't see this was already posted, it's a great sound byte.

What coach did he credit?

Brady doesn’t know what he’s talking about. You don’t develop quarterbacks, they are either great immediately or you should cut them and use another first rounder on the next one. Patsfan2 is right, they all suck and Vrabel should be fired, MacDaniels should be tarred and feathered, and Maye should be traded for Trey Lance if they don’t win it all. All of the ****ies who are coddling Maye need to shut their homer mouths, losing is for losers. You either win it all or you suck.

Great great clip from Tom!!
So sad that Kraft did not bring him in as part owner. Couldn’t he sell 10%???

If pats knew they were drafting a young qb in 24, the mayo hiring was a collossal mistake. Mayo did not have contacts around nfl to bring in a top flight qb coach and OC. This really hurt the chance of Maye quickly developing into a top flight qb.

Only question I have about this is why did BB and Matt Patricia NOT help develop Mac Jones with their defense expertise?

Also now that Mac Jones is paired with Shanahan he may take that hoped for leap into becoming a very good qb

The offense lead by Mac immediately threw a hissy fit as early as April OTAs and never gave Patricia a chance. Interesting to hear how much Brady credits the insight of a defensive minded coach for his development. Maybe Mac should have given it a chance before running to coaches outside the building. It will be interesting to see what he does in the next few weeks as it's hard to expect he'll ever get a another opportunity like this to prove everyone wrong.

That's why I consider this year Mayes rookie season.

I hope we don't over-coach Drake and get him paranoid about making mistakes, which is the worst kind of overthink. He has a chance to be a top 10 QB that can carry a team for years. I say we keep him aggressive and live with some mistakes.

I'd much rather have 30TDs and 12 INTs than 15 TDS and 6 INTs. Curious how others see that?

I kinda fear Maye is already in this spot he needs to break through it and quickly.

It appears Bill was very hands on with the offense/QB when Brady came along. Even in 09, that documentary had Bill and Tom discussing Ed Reed.

Maybe Vrabel is going over different defenses and how Maye can exploit them. Of course, execution is everything.
