These players may be fine. They might be sent to IR. As injury lists for the offseason/preseason go, this one isn't bad. We've certainly had a lot worse.

Arrington
Wendell
Bodden
Smith
Koutouvides
Morris
Faulk (PUP more likely)
Brace (PUP more likely)
Deaderick (PUP more likely)

NFI
Cannon

It seems that the week or two is the time to search the wire for potential additions at OL and S. a 5th RB/STer would not surprise, although we seem fine with 4.

There was a tweet from someone in the media around the start of last night's game saying Bodden should be OK for Week 1. I really doubt Wilhite would be unemployed right now if Bodden's season were in doubt. I've been wrong before a lot but I'd take him off the list.

Edit - The Tweetosphere also says Arrington's lack of return was precautionary. I'd take him off the list too.

Arrington is hurt? Or do you mean just to open up a roster spot?

Arrington looked like he pulled a muscle in his leg. It looked minor at the time but you can never be sure.

Wendell's the guy I'm worried about. He's been out a while, and none of the other backup interior OL look like they deserve a roster spot at all.

Well if Arrington and Bodden were to go onto IR it would be a disaster to lose the #2 &3 CB's from the team.

My thoughts too. Those are the ones that concern me the most because it would be Dowling (rookie) and Butler (VERY unproven) would become out 2-3. With the questions at safety depth, that leaves the secondary very suspect. Good to hear that there have been reports that both will be fine, as those would be big blows.

After them, Wendell is next on my list. As was mentioned above, no one has seized the reins on the backup G/C chart, and Connolly is out for the time being...

Reiss tweeted that Arrington's injury doesn't appear to a long term thing.

Agreed. Eric Kettani and Lee Smith could be headed to IR.

I should have put Lee Smith their on the roster app. I think he will get IRd w/ a joke injury

??

If we put them on IR, we still have rights to these players, don't we?

I think it is PUP or nothing for these two. They would never clear waivers. (Unvested)

Obviously, this is great news.

With regard to Wilhite, I think his time was done. He certainly could have been kept until the final cut in case of injury (clearly such injuries are possible), or as a possible 9th or 10th db/STer. Since he is a solid special teamer, I would think that Belichick had simply seen enough of Wilhite.

Agreed. Ohrnberger looks like a FB playing G. He's tiny with limited power. The thought of him starting if Connolly is hurt scares me. Ohrnberger isn't going to open up many holes and his pass protection is not good.

They shouldn't have to clear waivers for the final cutdown, I believe that they only need to clear waivers prior to (the final cutdown date), after that they may go directly to IR.

If Lee Smith is indeed injured, that might let him slide through waivers uncliamed, even though he was a 5th rounder, and wind up on our practice squad.

IR is a safer long-term option, since rookie salaries are cheap.

I can't believe our sudden overabundance of TE talent. Not and area we have been particulally DEEP at for a very long time.

Un-drafted free agent rookie Jeff Tarpinian?

if bodden is or goes on ir, i call that a epic fail..... bodden is a huge key to the d this season...

While I don't disagree with you at all, just last year the Pats lost what was at the beginning of camp their #1 CB (Bodden, IR), #2 (Butler, ineffectiveness), #3 (Wilhite, after week 8) and #5 (Wheatley, traded). The two starters were, at the beginning of training camp, their #4 CB (McCourty) and their #6 CB (Arrington), who was presumed by many to not make the 53-man roster.

I'm not trying to downplay the difficulty the Pats would have if they lost those two; just wanted to point out that the team has overcome a similar challenge as recently as just last season.

The thing is if the Pats are that convinced that Yeatman is a better option than Smith, they may not be overly concerned about losing Smith. Sure, they could put Smith on IR to prevent losing him, but then next year unless there is an injury to one of the others they once again have a roster decision (cut) to make at TE.
