Which Saints receiver worries you the most?

Which Saints receiver worries you the most?
The open one.

Brees doesn't have a favorite and doesn't rely on or fall back to any one receiver. If he feels that the defense is going to leave Darnell Dinkins open on a 4th and 1, then the ball is going to Darnell Dinkins. He expects all of his targets to catch the ball when the time comes and that's the message he sends them in the offseason and in practice.

Yall should probably worry most about Meachem right now...just saying.

As for as who most Saints fans are worried about- Welker. We feel pretty good about Greer on Moss.
Well, firsts of all the Saints Defense never assigns any one CB to a receiver. If Moss walks over to Greer's side of the field, then that's who will be covering Moss. If Welker walks over to that side, then guess what?

It concerns me that right now we're going to be falling back on Chris McAllister and Mike McKenzie a few days removed from being on the street, a rookie CB starting his second game and a gimpy Jabari Greer to defend against Tom Brady throwing to Welker and Moss. Hopefully they can lock up the receivers long enough for the pass rush to get to Brady and the defense will force the Pats off the field on 3rd Down.

Well the Saints fans think we should worry about:

"Colston, Moore, Meachem, Bush, P. Thomas, D. Thomas, Shockey, Bell, Henderson > Moss and Welker"

Hate to break it to you but..

Moss>Colston
Welker>Meachem
Edelman<Henderson
Stanback<Moore
Watson=Shockey
Baker>D. Thomas
Faulk>R. Bush
Morris<P. Thomas
Maroney=Bell

I love how they think they have 9 superweapons and we only have 2. As you can see above, its 4-3-2 Pats for offensive talent. The only argue you could give is Bush over Faulk, but I would choose Faulk.
Meachem is the team's 4th best receiver after Colston, Henderson and Moore. I'll give you Faulk over Bush, too. I hold my breath every time I see Reggie Bush get the ball, but it's not because I am expecting him to rip off a highlight-reel run. It's because I'm waiting for him to put the ball on the carpet. Faulk is a veteran guy who will get you that hard two yards for a first down, pick up the blitz every time, etc. that every QB needs and that Reggie Bush should have become over a year ago. I'm just happy to see Payton move on with Thomas and Bell for the running game.

WHo ever has the better defense will win. Both have explosive offenses that will put up points. It's really about whose defense can make more stops.

Leigh Bodden.

The key to shutting down the Saints offense is getting to Brees while also preventing the screen to Bush. If the Pats can do that, then they will hamper the Saints enough to allow the Pats to win the game.

Yep. We pretty much have to do to the Saints what the Giants did to us in the Super Bowl. I think the real key to this game, though, is whether or not Stephen Neal plays. If he plays, I don't think the Saints are going to be able to get to Brady and I think our offense can hang 35+ on them. If he doesn't, it may be a long day for Brady.

And yet the Saints have the best offense in the league this year, as well as, three of the past four years. Something's just not adding up with your comparisons.

That whole best offense thing... ain't worth much in trophies, trust us.

100% agree. However, when comparing this years offensive players, if the Pats are individually better, than they would have the best offense (statistically) in the league.

Not true.

Brady's first few weeks back allowed for a very slow start.

Brees turns the ball over more than once a game, so we should be able to take advantage of that.

Not sure how the "best QB in the league" would be someone who turns the ball over that often...

I never said Brees was the best QB in the league. He does throw picks. The offense is not conservative. He is allowed to take several chances (back shoulder throws, jump ball, etc) because he has trust in his abilities and more importantly, his receiver's. Payton does not discourage this.
I will allow for Brady's slow start. But really, do you think the Pats have a better offense this year than the Saints? If so, cool. I respect your opinion. This is gonna be a fun game.

I didn't mean to imply that YOU said Brees is better, my bad man. I just was responding to your post since it was the last one I read before I replied. I have seen some Saints fans saying Brees is better, and some weird logic how if he wins this game it means he's the better QB. Doesn't make sense.

As for the INTs situation. Not to call you out, but you guys claim all the WRs are great and Brees strength is finding whoever is open and only throwing to them. Doesn't that conflict with what you're saying about how he takes chances, etc? If he were only throwing to the open guy, then he shouldnt be turning the ball over at such a high rate.

Brees is a top 5 QB for sure. But to put him in the same sentence as Brady and Manning seems a bit goofy to me. Brady and Manning are 1st tier QBs. Brees is 2nd tier. Brees averages almost an INT PER GAME in his career. 1st tier QBs don't do that IMO.

Brees is a GREAT QB, but not the best. Again, not saying you personally said he was the best.

Batted balls account for almost 100% of Brees' interceptions. He's only 6 foot, so he really relies on moving around the pocket not just to avoid sacks, but to be able to see downfield. This is why if the Pats want to win, they'll focus on an interior pass rush and take away Brees' passing lanes. The result is usually a lot of incompletions, batted passes and interceptions.

The six foot thing, though... I mean the guy is an awesome QB, so it clearly doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot.

I feel the difference lies not in the receiving corps, but in the defense. The Saints defense has allowed only seven passing TD's through seven games, while the Patriots have allowed 14 passing TD's.

By the way, Manning has as many interceptions as Brees this year. I do believe that he (Brees) is in the same sentence as Brady and Manning. However, I do not claim that our receivers are great. They are good, and the QB helps make them look good. To a lot of fans, they appear to be more open than they are, because Brees is that accurate. (much like Brady)

New Orleans Saints:

Pass Yards: 266.2 (6th)
Rush Yards: 154.2 (5th)
Total Yards: 420.5 (1st)

New England Patriots:

Pass yards: 302.3 (2nd)
Rush Yards: 113.8 (15th)
Total Yards: 416.1 (2nd)

Indianapolis Colts:

Pass yards: 313.5 (1st)
Rush Yards: 85 (31st!)
Total Yards: 398.5 (3rd)

Top 3 offenses yardage wise. To the Saints fans, you have one of the most balanced offensive attacks I can remember seeing.

The Patriots offense is the "hybrid" of the Colts and Saints. The Colts won't get away with the 31st rank rushing game for the whole season. It will bite them eventually (hopefully playoffs)

They are also the most balanced we have ever seen. In fact, it is also the most balanced overall team we have ever fielded. We have had absolutely stifling defenses with no sustainable offense (the Dome Patrol of the late 80's and early 90's) and we have had the explosive offenses with embarrassingly soft defenses. Now, we have what it takes. I knew there was something special as early as the preseason. Gregg Williams has created a new culture which has dramatically changed the Saints defense.

He has found a way to overcome his lack of height. A few teams have shown though that they can affect his throwing.

I did recently discover that Brees has found a new receiving target. I think he's number 44.

Manning also has over 60 more pass attempts than Brees......

The majority of those teams have huge defensive lines. The Dolphins showed it at first this season. The bad news, in that regard, is that the Pats have an even bigger defensive line than the DolphLundgrens do. Personally, I don't think this fact will have a big impact on the game. It's just interesting to note.
