What's wrong with the Chiefs?

As fun as this thread is, I feel the need to throw a little cold water on all the Mahomes hate. What the guy accomplished his first 40 or so games is amazing, regardless of the talent he had around him or breaks he got. And he had plenty of both. But you don't get a streak like that unless you playing amazing ball. Brady to have so few bad games during such a long stretch is something maybe even Brady hasn't matched.

He makes plays literally no one else can make, and it isn't just because of luck or the guys around him. He's just a different animal. Anyone who looks at him play knows, health withstanding he will go down in the top 5 all time QB. In that highest of the top tier greats. His bad play this season is being overstated by fans overly eager to see a slightly over hyped player get dirt on his face. Frankly, outside of 4-5 REALLY bad plays he's still the same QB he was last year for the most part. This streak won't last, and soon he'll start making those jaw dropping no look passes again and the Mahomes fans will crow about it, as they rightly should.

But at least they will come to accept the fact that Mahomes is indeed mortal and not some otherworldly cheat code. That he doesn't levitate about the rest of the elite crowd like they are JV players. And that perhaps many of the amazing plays he makes are not devoid of some luck, It doesn't mean skill is not involved, but it isn't like it's all skill either. Mahomes has been a gunslinger all his playing career. That won't change. It never does for guys like him or Favre and others. If you take that away from them you also take away a key peice of what makes them the elite player they are. You need to live with the good and the bad. There will be variance so sometimes it will look unstoppable and sometimes you will shake your head as it all falls apart. But on the whole those plays have worked way more than not for a reason.
I disagree with the plays "no one else can make". Brett Favre, Russel Wilson, Deshaun Watson, Josh Allen, Aaron Rodgers have all made similar awkward off-balance/side-arm/while-falling-down/unorthodox throws... several times too. Kyler Murray is starting to too. Prime Cam Newton and Carson Wentz pre-injury made some insane plays/throws too (edit: Just watched a highlight video of "crazy throws" and Wentz was in there way more often than I thought. He was nuts in 2017). Even Stafford threw a no look TD a couple weeks ago that would've been gobbled up & plastered everywhere. Mahomes just tries to make those WAY more often than necessary and it hurts the team when it fails. Or literally hurts himself when it's garbage time. Plus, he has the media on his side amplifying every instance of it.

Yeah, the narrative that he does things we've never seen before is so weird, especially when all of the dumb throws he makes are just ignored.

No one can deny his raw arm talent, but his quarterbacking needs a lot of work.

To be fair, at least three of those are on the recievers.
Mac has 3 that are on his receivers too, they still count unfortunately. The other 6 were just desperation ducks thrown up for grabs. He looked like a first year QB on those passes. Kinda think he bought into his own hype that he can throw an accurate ball from any platform.

The league always catches up with the "athletic" qb's. Yet teams continue to be lured by that siren song. In the end, above the neck trumps below, every time. I still think Mahomes could be a first-rate qb, if he would cut the nonsense, settle down, and learn the position.

Ya but the word was he was smart like a Brady and Manning but elusive like Rodgers with a clutch gene. A super QB weapon that even in a SB blowout loss where he couldn't see what was going on in front of him was praised as a super QB.

or maybe it was the previous lucky streak that didn't last, and what we see now is what one should expect to happen with "jaw dropping no look passes".

I think he is smart. I just think he needs to be more disciplined and to resist the temptation to reach for the spectacular (the "athletic'). Whether his head coach has the wisdom to urge him in this direction is a real question, however. Reid sort of specializes in flash-in-the-pan stuff, it seems to me.

Ya he's definitely a smart QB but not anywhere in same realm as the other guys I mentioned. He has time he's young but he was being touted as a GOAT. I agree that Reid and coaching are part of it it's hard to imagine Reid being all there after what his son just did.

I'll step up for my boy 1 time. In three years in the league Mahomes won over 12 games a year, averaged 38 TD's and 7 Ints. He played in 3 AFCCG's, and was one overtime loss from 3 Super Bowls. Through 4 games this year he was completing 72% of his passes with 14 TDs and 4 Ints. And then he had 3 bad games. I think some of you are ignoring a lot of history in favor of 3 games. But I get he's struggling right now.

Some teams just can’t get over losing a SB (even before entering Cap Hell) and some teams are just better at trying again, and again, snd again!

who cares what you think about anything, Stu Pidassle...take your butthurt little red Magomes wagon and go find some freeway traffic to play in...moron.
an apology would be appreciated. the only times I care of chiefs status is when we play them and the only reason I even clicked on this thread is bcs chiefs poor record for me makes pats 2021 season just a bit less miserable.

That's just ******** propaganda and quite frankly doesn't help Mahomes at all.

Brady ruined their "dynasty" just like he did the Seahawks and Atlanta.

In all reality though the bill has finally come due. Just wait until mahomes is making $45million a year
....and Indy's, Rams's, Pittsburg's Baltimore's and Charger's

Mahomes got the big bucks, they have to save on other area's on the team, he's no Brady and they don't have BB as the coach.
