I do, yet both are true most likely. He is over hyped because he wasn't just hyped as the soon to be GOAT. He was hyped as if he was some kind of unstoppable force beyond the limits of other humans. It was and still partly is insane that saying he'll be a top 5 QB is actually under shooting the hype. Btw, I think he'll be in the bottom of that top 5. I'd still take Brady Montana and Staubach over him. Maybe even 1 more guy.First, Booooo.
Second, you don't find the above two bolded statements a bit ironic?
Makes sense since Brady passed Jordan last year.
Patrick Mahomes isn't chasing Tom Brady – he's chasing Michael Jordan
Tom Brady is a ruthless and brilliant winner. But his opposing number in Sunday’s Super Bowl is on track to redefine the sportwww.theguardian.com
I was surprised Kelce went off as much as he did last year. He was definitely exhausted by the SB. It's no surprise he's down this year.Mahomes is still an elite QB but it’s just so immensely satisfying for everyone to come to the stark realization that he isn’t actually playing the game on some higher dimensional plane.
He passed him a few years ago imo. Last year was just a statement. About his dominance in North American team sports.Makes sense since Brady passed Jordan last year.
Come on man. He's been in the league 3 years and you've already anointed him on QB Mt. Rushmore? How about we wait another 7 years and see where he's at then? Savvy?I do, yet both are true most likely. He is over hyped because he wasn't just hyped as the soon to be GOAT. This is his 5th year. Didn’t play much year 1. Has 1 Super Bowl win so far. Brady’s first 5 years included 3 Super Bowl wins.Come on man. He's been in the league 3 years and you've already anointed him on QB Mt. Rushmore? How about we wait another 7 years and see where he's at then? Savvy?
Fine, 5 more years then. Ten years at QB is a fair amount of time to assess their body of work. He'll be 31 then. We can determine if he peaked too early or if he's continued to improve. He doesn't have the stats to put him in the top 5 all time category. That's nonsense. This is his 5th year. Didn’t play much year 1. Has 1 Super Bowl win so far. I agree and was just posting for accuracy. A number of qb's have looked like they were going to challenge the goat early in their careers when they were playing for great teams with amazing weapons, however, so far, all have fallen back to earth as soon as it came time to pay the piper.Fine, 5 more years then. IMO I think the entire deal was built with the intention of "kicking the can down the road" several times. Some details in this article:That’s the best part: he hasn’t gotten the big bucks yet. The contract was structured this way to keep their rookie contract window open a little longer, including this season. I’d say in this case it’s a lot more about BB’s GM skills versus the way the Chiefs “built.”
In today's NFL it's not a bad plan at all. You try to peak in these next 3 years (from when he signed the deal) and then endure a hard year or 2 in the middle while you retool and probably Kelce and Hill are gone. The problem is they sunk everything into an offensive line when the QB doesn't even stay in the pocket to begin with. The defense is bad and TB would of put up 50 on them in the SB if they had to. Somehow they still didn't address it.IMO I think the entire deal was built with the intention of "kicking the can down the road" several times. Some details in this article:
Patrick Mahomes restructures deal: Why this season won't be the only time Chiefs' megastar keeps roster intact
Mahomes can restructure his deal and make sure the Chiefs save cap space every yearwww.cbssports.com
The long-story-short is "Mahomes has big roster bonuses every year but he can convert those into signing bonuses every year to save a bunch of cap space." That works fine in these early years, but again, it's kicking the can down the road. If you're spreading out every year's salary/roster bonus over the next 5 years, every single year, those add up and you eventually can't get out of it. So we can say "Wow his cap hit is so big next year" now, but chances are he'll restructure again and it won't be that high after all. But - in another year or two after that - it's probably going to be a disaster.
Well it depends what you mean. Do i think he'll get there? Yes. Do I put him there yet no? I'm talking about my projection of him. Clearly he needs to put in more years before he climbs that high. If he gets hurt tomorrow he likely doesn't make the HOF, and rightfully so.Come on man. He's been in the league 3 years and you've already anointed him on QB Mt. Rushmore? True. And then he went 10 years til his next one. I don't think the first 5 years of any quarterback's career defines them. What makes Brady the unquestioned GOAT is his longevity and unbelievable success for such a long time. And that first 5 years is definitely a part. I think if Mahomes wins 3 or 4 in his career then you could start talking about him being a top 5 QB.This is his 5th year. Didn’t play much year 1. Has 1 Super Bowl win so far. Brady’s first 5 years included 3 Super Bowl wins.
I would say Andy Reid is more on the hot seat than Belichick. For all the talk that Belichick could be fired if he doesn't turn it around even as soon as this year (which I don't buy) by some in the media and some fans, Reid is the guy who may have to worry about his job more. The Pats are rebuilding and just found their replacement QB. The Chiefs were supposed to be one of a handful of teams that were supposed to be in contention for the Super Bowl. They have what most people believed to be the best QB in the league going into this season.
Now I don't think either guy will lose their job any time soon unless one or both decide to retire on their own. But I think a losing season puts Reid closer to an exit than Belichick.
