What to do with Isaiah Wynn

Bury him on the bench for depth, then cut him after the season. He’s been a huge disappointment.

From what I heard, they tried, but were outbid by Cincy. I think next year, we're looking at a Brown/Strange/Andrews/Hines/Onwenu. Would like to upgrade Andrews, but he is what he is.....but as is, with Cannon in there at RT, I believe we still have a top O-Line in the league.

Somebody or several folks on staff don't like him as a RT. It's confusing to those of us with a limited (or nonexistent) understanding of techniques and nuance of skills they're looking for in a RT. All us amateurs know is that when he's played RT he's been a good RT.

The only thing I can think of is that us amateurs who want him at RT are grading his RT ability based on the Newton year (when he played there the most). It was a very different offense than what they've been doing last year and this one.

To add to what @archstanton543, said, it was idiotic of Bill to pick up the option of a mediocre player who landed on IR majority of his career, then trade a G who was actually dependable for them.
We had options at guard. We didn't at tackle. That's why those moves were made.

In hindsight, it was dumb to pick up the option. But who thought he wouldn't even be trying in a contract year

He'll be a FA.

They had plenty of time in the offseason to address this before his option was picked up in May of 2021. It's not like his option came out of nowhere and caught Bill by surprise.
Honestly, I’d like to see them trade anyone who won’t be on the team long term. Agholor and Wynn would be great to move. Not sure they can move Harris since playing Rhamondre without a quality back up is playing with fire (if they dealt Harris and Rham goes down there is no starting caliber back on the team).
Again, depending on their record, they should move players who they don't plan on re-signing no what the depth situation is.

There is some truth to that statement. But if it was done to give them another season to see if they wanted to keep him around/extend him, it was worth the price, at the time.

But thru game 4, it was a bad choice to make.

The depth situation plays a factor into who they plan to re-sign though. If they have depth signed through next year at a position then they are less likely to re-sign one of their free agents.

But they won't. Even in the Cam year, they were trying to win. BB said the philosophy is different than the Suck for Luck Colts. I don't think they'll move Harris because he and Rham are a great running game, which is our best route for winning games right now, even if the team doesn't win a lot of them.

Zero point zero.
Better to get some undrafted free agent who will work their tail off even though less talented.
He is costing himself a ton of money with his lackadaisical performance this year. When he hits free agency, he will not get top dollar.

What a draft whiff. Could have had Lamar
Whatever happened to taking best player available regardless of position. We all knew at the time of the draft that Lamar Jackson was better than both Sony, Michel, and Isaiah Wynn.

If they can trade him, there is no cap hit... its literally saving 100% of the balance of the contract because its fully guaranteed...
Why would anyone want to pay Wynn $7.6M for the rest of the season?

I think there is a bit of a malcontent factor here. He has never been a stud but he has been at least average and this year he really has gone off a cliff. Maybe he wanted a long term deal and didnt get one or maybe he is pissed about playing in his contract year at RT but either way he needs to get over it. His play right now isn't going to land him a big deal here or anywhere else. At this rate he will be signing a one year "prove it" somewhere.

Why?

Why did the seahawks give up 2 first round picks for a safety? why did the colts give up a 1st for trent richardson?

I guess the answer is - some GM's do stupid things... thats about all I got

What do you think we would get in return for an expensive underwhelming tackle for half a season?

Yeah, would be hard to imagine. The only scenario I could think of would be before the trade deadline, an OT for a Super Bowl contender went down with a year ending injury and that said team had no good backup tackles. Highly unlikely.

He should not start anymore...
A back up...

Some team that lost it's LT for the entire season might be interested.... like the Chargers/Slater, Titans/Lewan, Eagles/Mailata, Ravens/Slatey, etc....

I'd even pick up a part of his salary to ship him out...say 3M. It would open about 4M in cap room for us...and we could get a pick/player out of it.
