What Texans Talk is saying.

Pat D not top 5? That's bs and wrong. Even after you adjust for schedule, the Pats are the #3 defense in the nfl. That is FACT. Pats D is better than Texans. And I won't even bring up the offense.

Brother Jimnance, switch to decaf . I believe we are a top 5 D but I was making the point that even for the D doubters there is no viable way to argue this D isn't at minimum solid.

Coupled with our solid O we are the best balanced, most capable of victory team in the POs (we were second on that list but thanks to GB eliminating that Giant team ). And so what does that mean? It means on paper we should win the SB. Whether we do (I think we will as long as we don't shoot ourselves in the foot) is TBD...

Straggler- wasn't directed at YOU- but those you cited who didn't fell the Pats had a top 5 D. Point is, its not up for debate- AFTER adjusting for schedule- which is the main thing the naysayers were pointing at- Pats D is #3 in nfl- behind Seattle and giants. What they THINK is irrelevant- its a FACT.

In adjusted points against (adjusted against the opponet PPG it finished 2nd best in the NFL behind only Denver.

It is the best D in the playoffs. The best Ds in order left: Pats 5.63+ Seattle 5.37+ KC 4.87+ Houston 2.85+ Dallas 2.62+ Pitt 1.75+ Atanta -2.05 GB -2.19

Also worth nothing Seattle and KC trending down. Pats/Dallas trending up. Everyone else is pretty stable.

Fair enough Jimnance...

Guess I remembered wrong. Was a few days ago I saw it. That's even better tho I thought they were #3 and they're really #2.

Hard to be dismissive of any half decent team (they are middle of the road, not the worst team out there) when the possibility of mistakes and turnovers to come into play.

Lose a fumble or two, throw an INT and you can end up in a bad spot fast. Even the Patriots can lose to a mediocre team. As someone mentioned the Eagles game last season where we made a couple of mistakes and it spiraled out of control.

By no means do I see this happening but unless we are talking about teams that are absolutely bottom of the barrel, there is always a chance.

Fortunately Belichick does not allow his team to look past an opponent unlike everyone in the media and fans who are scoffing and laughing at the notion that the Texans can give us a game. Turnovers and big penalties can always made an impact. Fortunately we are pretty darn good in those areas.

Don't mistake me for thinking this is going to necessarily be a nail biter. We should win comfortably but the wild overconfidence going on right now is a little bothersome.

Hey, I'm not playing. I'll be as overconfident as I want.

The giants are absolutely not "more balanced, more capable of victory in the playoffs" than the patriots. And it isn't even close.

Why did I keep hearing about Houston having the #1 defense? Is that going to continue during this game? I hope not.

Many mediots are just plain lazy. They use the yardage stat and move on. The Texans have earned their spot in the playoffs and won some close games primarily due to their defense.

If the Pats offense comes out clicking, we won't hear too much about that during the latter half of the game.

Playing and winning against a good defense in the Division Round gets you in a groove for the next challenge. I'm sure the Pats welcome the challenge.

Go Pats!

Pretty sure that was a joke. It has to be, right? When has a game ever been decided by yardage? Sarcasm doesn't always come through on the internet.

nope, the guy was dead serious.

AJ, I thought the at the end of my parenthetical homage to the Giants was sufficient to get the message across that I was being sarcastic. Maybe not?

I took it as you were smiling because you were happy the packers knocked them out.

They just seem happy to be here, nothing wrong with that. They all seem in good humor and nice.

I didn't see this greater than others threat from the Giants that other posters did. IMHO The Giants paltry offense would have made for an optimal opponent in the SB compared to some of the other potential opponents (and said as much in the Fear the Giants thread). The smiley face was, albeit now I see it was too generic, meant to convey sarcasm.

There actually is a sarcasm face.

This one kinda dies it too

Thanks AJ. I'm too used to my lazy way of quickly typing : - ) for every moment of sarcasm instead of the grueling task of opening the smiley face menu...

Let me try that Hey it works, any other shortcuts.
