What Tebow was doing after the Loss

The implication is still there that Jesus favors Tebow. I don't like religion, politics, or pandering to the military in football games.

Oooh, this struck a nerve with me. I agree, especially on pandering to the military at Pats games. Way too much of it going on and I find myself asking, why? Because it's fashionably PC and sentimental? We're not officially "at war" despite what's happening in Afghanistan. We have an all-volunteer military so just because someone serves doesn't automatically make them a "hero." The military is revered at Pats games to the point of worship and I don't get it.

From his press conference after the loss:

Tim Tebow discusses loss against Patriots | masslive.com

Like so many others, you're reaching for something negative that's not there.

I'm not reaching for anything...he DID NOT point to the sky when he came off the field LOSING yesterday...he DID in every win leading up to this game...ON THE FIELD WITH ALL THE CAMERAS ON HIM...did not point to the sky...I don't care what he did on the sidelines or post game in front of the press...to me that is just a continuation of this dog and pony show. I have no beef with anybody believing in anything about this kid...it's a free country...I personally am not buying into any of this...so let's end it here...no more holy Tebow talk on the PATRIOTS football thread....preach, rant, rave, adore and gush a million platitudes on the religion and politics thread.

I don't hate Tim Tebow. I just find him incredibly annoying. There is a huge difference.

sheesh, when did the 49er's defense morph into the Pats defense

oops, wrong thread

I live in the south, and show dog christians are a dime a dozen down here. I respect the quiet, humble, Christian. The one that doesn't pray in public, who doesn't need to flagrantly say grace, or try to get everyone to pray with them before every stupid group outing. It is presumptuous, patronizing, shallow posturing.

I would respect the person more who went out of his way so that people would not find out about the charity he did for kids with cancer. Who doesn't have to point up when the camera lights turn on. Less acting, less scripture written on his face. Is it Christian to be divisive like that just so everyone knows where you stand? I see it as disrespectful, juvenile, and frankly it represents the worst of Christianity: the in your face evangelical know-it-all ignoramus strands we get down in the south. Aw shucks nice guys who have to remind you every freaking second that they are Christian.

No thanks. Even these threads I find tiresome. Tebow is not my golden cow, and for people that are putting him on a pedestal have just filtered them out of my 'I care what you think' box.

Very well said, friend.

The implication is still there that Jesus favors Tebow. I don't like religion, politics, or pandering to the military in football games. Let's keep football about football, and keep the other stuff out of it. I don't think Jesus, Allah, Buddha, etc. gives a darn about football, and to some degree prayer in a game (except for an injured player) makes a mockery of religion. The fact that Tebow did an ad for the radical homophobic Focus on the Family certainly lowers my opinion of him, but given that he plays for the Broncos I'd have a low opinion of him anyway. The fact that he does some good works makes him no different than a lot of other prominent athletes. The fact that he's a mediocre QB makes this discussion rather pointless -- he can't pass, and the main reason he's been so effective at the run is because the Broncos have built their whole team around the run. Tebow is no Michael Vick (who I don't like either, but for other reasons).

pandering to the military? are you kidding me? they should have a red carpet rolled out for them at every game they attend. thats the least we could do. your lefty view of the world is showing.

Ask Tebow if he would support stem cell research that could potentially cure one of the people that he visits. Then you will see why he sickens some people. He doesn't visit these people out of the goodness of his heart, he's there to sell something, his religion.

If you want to help people, then help them, but don't do it as an opening to preach to them.

Plenty of nice people do nice things every day but you don't hear crap about it because they aren't there to sell something, they just want to help.

He's right, the worship of the military in this country has reached dangerous levels.

These threads would be great at a Broncos fan site.

Maybe Tebow fanboy threads should go to the visiting team section of the site? Why are they here? Why are so many people desperate that others worship Tebow? WTF?! Could it have to do with concerns outside of football, perhaps? I'm sure nobody has such ulterior motives...they are just being objective.

Incidentally, there are plenty of fanboy sites dedicated to Teboner for those that aren't getting enough of it here. Maybe the Tebaggers should go there instead of this site. Please.

How can anyone hate him and badmouth him? Easy. FSU fans are the scum of the Earth.

i know this is the pats board and tebow's a bronco. so what. he's a football player , so commenting about him is not out of line. everyone seems to have an opinion about him. he's the flavor of the day.

i love that we won yesterday and shut up the hype machine that is espn, but i applaud tebow for what he does and tries to do on and off the field. what his religious preference is does not matter to me. he could be a tibetan monk or a cross dressing agnostic, it would not matter. a good person is a good person. the nfl could use more tim tebows.

the funny part is that there is an disturbing percentage of those who worship both god and gun

That's what I mean by pandering. If we want to have the red carpet rolled out for them, then let's have it rolled out for the missionaries and doctors who volunteer around the world, for the people who tend soup kitchens and help the very poor, for the teachers who choose to teach in bad neighborhoods, and so on. I respect our troops no more or no less than other brave Americans whose calling is to make our nation a better place. But, perhaps this should be saved for the political forum

He walks the walk. How do you know this? How do any of you know this? This is a well crafted public persona. None of you know what he is really like.

Two quick things and then I'm out of this discussion.....

First, I agree with you on this point. None of us (that I know of) knows Tebow personally, so all we have to go on is what we see and read about him. That said, *every* report I've ever read, every comment made by someone that knows Tebow has said - without exception - that Tebow is the genuine article. I've never seen one comment by a person that actually knows him that has suggested otherwise. So I'm left with the sense that, yeah, he's authentic.

Second, everyone - fans and critics alike - needs to understand that Tebow is going to fail in sports, and he is going to make some big mistakes in life. It's inevitable. Everyone sins (to use language Tebow would be comfortable with). No exceptions. Those that love Tebow have to be prepared for the time when he violates his own standards. Be ready for that terribly disappointing moment. It's coming. Be prepared for that disappointment.

But those that dislike Tebow also need to understand that a failure - even a massive one - does not necessarily make him a "hypocrite"....it makes him 100% human. We ALL fail our own standards at one point or another. Tebow is no different. So those that are just itching for him to fall need to not jump all over him the moment he does as if a sign of weakness means he's not genuine.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled programming, which currently has the Pats as the #1 seed in the AFC, and controlling their own destiny for that spot! Woo-hoo!

The bigotry on this board is alarming, and, ironically, un-patriotic.

Not including the 23 x 10^x amount of DUI's that NFL players seem to enjoy...

Terrell Suggs is a kingpin, Big Ben has multiple allegations of rape against him, Marvin Harrison shot a guy, Matt Jones (not that he's relevant now) was found in a parking lot passed out in a mound of coke...

Maurice Clarrett got pulled over with an SUV full of guns, Adam Jones had Brady knows how many charges pressed after a famous strip club incident, Ray Lewis was an accomplice in a murder by stabbing, Donte Stallworth killed a guy while he was driving drunk, Edelman can't seem to avoid visits to the PD, Plexiglass idiotically shot himself in the leg with a gun he had concealed in his pants, Talib was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon...

Plenty of players have expressed their worship in post game interviews in the recent future, they just worship themselves. Tebow is a good thing.

In Brady's name, we pray, Amen.

Tebow is a thing, whether he is good or not is an opinion, not a judgement. According to Tebow.
