It looks like the Justin Fields trade proposals. I agree. But since Milton is on second year no point dealing him for anything less than 2nd round pick. What is the value of any pick below 3rd round. At least 2nd round pick can be used for trading up to 1st or getting Higgins.

I understand The valuations are absurd and too high for someone who has not played much. But if he pans out to a franchise QB we don't want to be holding the bag with a sixth round pick when we could have obtained much more.

Teams with low cap space and need for QB need to pay us the premium to get an opportunity to experiment it out with Milton.

Anthony Richardson was drafted with the 3rd pick. Zach Wilson 3rd pick. Milton would be in that tier and comes at a very low opportunity cost of 2nd round pick and controlled cost of 2 million $/ year for next 3 years . Why give him to another team for their measly day 3 pick. We can just keep him as a backup for a day 3 pick.

There are no sure fire QB prospects in this draft class beyond cam ward. So desperate teams will be forced to draft higher . At least Milton has 1 game of NFL tape vs others who have none.

You could do a stipulation trade. A 4th now, and in two season if he’s played 80% of more of the snaps, the team has to send us a second.

please excuse me while I laugh at these trade proposals

just like we have to pay a suck tax and weather tax to free agents other teams are going to have to pay the qb tax for milton.

I would add stipulation of second if he plays more than 8 games in 2025 and if he is a starter in 2026 or traded elsewhere the 2nd would change to a first .
Summarizing Milton = 2025 3rd + 2026 conditional 1st or 2nd rounder

Or 2025 first rounder = Milton + 2025 3rd and 2025 4th

Im surprised more people haven’t brought up the Drew Bledsoe, Tom Brady situation. Yes they’re not exactly comparable, but there are similarities.

Just imagine we had traded Brady in 2001 pre draft/season. That’s the greatest example of the value of a solid cheap backup with a ton of upside. You just never know what is going to happen with Drake.

As seen in the documentary, Brady was making it impossible for BB to cut the cord on him. In fact, many on this board have noted who attended training camp in 2001 that Brady was outplaying Bledsoe.

With that said, there's no reason to trade Milton at this time.

Agreed. Milton will be a good qb2 going into the season. And on a rookie deal. QB room should be all set. Nobody expected Mac Jones to start a game last year but we saw what happened.

Yes that was training camp in 2001. The start of his second season. He (like Milton) would have never the chance to shine or show his growth if they had traded him pre draft. We need to keep him for at least another year.

Depends on how they feel about Milton
If they think that last game was a outlier and he has suspect skills then get a 3 or 4 for him
Other teams will only be able to judge his talent by that last game
If they see promise then hold on to him
He could be valuable if Maye goes down and if he shows promise in Exhibition games or regular season games then you may get a 1st for him in the future

Turns out based on the trade with Dallas, he's worth a high 6.

High 7th considering we got comp 5th and gave back 7th. Not sure why we couldn't have obtained a 3rd rounder on draft day

R5 171st is worth 23 points.
R7 217th is worth 4.2

That is a net 18.8 which is R6 180th pick.

Milton was taken at R6 193rd = 13.8 points

He appreciated 13 slots in R6 thanks to that performance vs 3rd stringers for a team that didn't want to play.

Not sure why we couldn't have obtained a 3rd rounder on draft day
Because no one offered it because he is not worth it.

Copy and pasting what I read on another forum online and I agree with it:

It's been said that Milton considered himself an NFL starting QB all along, going back to when he was drafted. Apparently, after his performance against the Bills to close the season, he or his agent (or both) started suggesting internally to the NE brass that Milton wanted a fair shake at starting this year and wanted an open QB competition. Maye is a made man in NE, and there's no way they were going to let Milton (or anyone else) try to compete for the starting job. That's where the unease and trepidation of Milton becoming a problem is said to have come from.

As far as his trade value, based on his age, his college tape, and his perception as a long-term developmental project, that all trumped what league talent evaluators viewed as a preseason game performance against the Bills. Essentially, his value from that one game didn't really move any. The teams that inquired apparently all offered NE similar Day 3 draft options and viewed him as a 25-year-old project. The Pats certainly did not get any offers tantamount to Milton being a future starter, and certainly nothing near the 2nd or 3rd round picks the Pats were reported to have been looking for.

I'm not really buying that the Pats "granted Milton his wish" of a trade to DAL, as he's in no position to start there either. The Cowboys are committed to Prescott for at least the next 2 years (moving on from him would be a massive cap charge). I'm also not really buying NE turned down a better offer. I view that as they had a better offer probably by a few slots in the draft from a rival AFC team that they didn't want to trade him to. But I don't think there was a big difference in the trade offers they received.

Apparently nothing! We essentially traded a 6th and 7th rd pick for a 5th

A lot less than we thought! Hope we were wrong!

Somehow I didn't see this response until now. Speculation is that Milton was becoming a problem and thinks he should challenge Maye's job.

Should the patriots have considered an open competition in TC as a way to get Maye to earn the starting job.
Just asking not advocating for the idea
