2nd Team Getting Their First Start
Still a month out but dying for it to get here so might as well discuss it.

There are definitely players whose performance/development may make or break this team's playoff chances.
In no particular order, I think some of these include:
- Mac
- Parker
- Strange
- Thornton
- Jonnu

- Barmore
- McMillan
- McGrone
- pretty much every CB but I'll highlight Jack Jones as I have a feeling he has the best chance to reach fringe CB1/J.C. Jackson territory.

The question I'll pose is, how important is training camp performance for these guys in predicting their success this season/the next few seasons? For example, if Thornton doesn't quickly show that he should take over WR #3 or at least deserves significant playing time, are you writing him off as someone who will live up to his draft status?

Im intrigued by the overwhelming Depth at running back.
I will be watching the running backs.

I also feel like this is the end of the road for Asiasi and Keene.
I want to see if they make plays in practice as well as preseason.

Cbs and lbs/edge. Thats probably where we hurt most last year . DL was also iffy but theres not a whole lot new to see there.
Ya as far as DL I just hope to see Barmore progress to the next level and really establish himself as a disruptive force. At LB, I expect to Wilson to be serviceable. I have higher hopes for McMillan and McGrone, I'll be focusing in on reports about them. If they perform above average, that will be huge for this D. If not, we'll have some frustrating times ahead, particularly in the run game again.

Defense, defense and defense.

The offense will be fine (probably after adding a backup OL or two),

It may take half the season before this defense gels, if it ever does. Last year's defense needed some improvement. And now, Hightower, Van Noy and Jackson are gone from that defense. And we should add the effect of the usual injury or two. To improve, we need players who are better than the first half performance of these three players, and who make up for any injuries to come. That really is a tall order.

Offense:
Mac - we already know what we want to see.
Strange - will he prove he was a worthy 1st round selection?
Parker - can he regain his 2019 form or just close to it?
Thornton - will he do enough to force Bill to put him on the field like Rham last year?
Bourne - hopefully he gets more touches than Myers this year.
Smith - does Bill find better ways to get him the ball rather than those predictable and horrible RB type screens last year?
Agholor - does he play better than last year?
Rham - will he push Harris for more touches?

Defense:
Barmore - can he be a full time player? Can he finish getting to the QB?
Judon - was the 2nd half collapse last year a fluke?
Dugger - it's time for him to push Phillips off the field for more snaps.
OLB - Uche, Jennings and Perkins are fighting for jobs.
MLB - Mack and McMillan are fighting for jobs.
CB - Do any of the rookies overtake Mills or Butler?

i would add tre nixon and the rookie rb to see if they can contribute this year and the offense scheme itself
i am curious how our offense is gonna look like and the additions

Jahlani Tavai cut on the 1st day of TC.
SlowJuan cut on the 2nd day.
Harry cut on the 3rd day.
Keene or Asiasi cut on 4th day.

Get rid of dead weight. Next man up.

Third String But Playing on Special Teams
On offense I want to see the hurry-up functioning efficiently. That will take more synchronized play than individual performance.
On defense I expect a much higher energy level and I don't mean chirping and talking ****. The youth there should help. There will be mistakes made while growing, but showing urgency and athleticism will be a good sign for the future.

I want to see how the wider receivers/TE on offense and the LBs/edge on defense shake out. Will someone really stand out? Although I'll take solid overall unit play (which seems more Patriot-like)

Nailed it. They could have the best WR(s) ever...wouldn't matter if they can never get the offense the ball or stop the other team from scoring consistently. While cautiously optimistic of additional changes, this year almost seems similar to the Newton year in regards to how they're approaching the defense - "let's see what we have before making adjustments" where we saw a lot of youth getting snaps. The outcomes were pretty pedestrian.

Add to that a dearth of cap with which to maneuver and change...my confidence is lower than in previous offseasons where the Patriots sit today.

Maybe this is more geared towards preseason games, but I want to see speed from the defense... They have the size... But are they fast enough, when combined with the line play, to keep guys on the inside to slow them down... Except for the two grey beards in the secondary, we have a young crew... Let's see them make use of al that athleticism...
