I think this team is going to be facing challenges every week, no matter who they are playing. This is going to be a good test of whether they have addressed the need for more speed and athleticism on their defense. They have looked good so far in that regard, but Jackson certainly tests that. There aren’t going to be many pretty games this season, but we will get to see them in situations where they have to make plays to win close games, and make plays to close out opponents when they are ahead late. The more they become clutch the more we will like them, if not? Should be interesting.

honestly who cares about them and "expert" is really a generous term. I'd imagine the "experts" will pick against the Pats in pretty much every game this year. I could see the majority picking Lions in 2 weeks because Lions are a little media darling right now

I think it's a Chess move, but it probably won't matter. Media will start asking Lamar about BB's contract comment and that might distract him internally or get him to attempt to play beyond his capabilities (or the opposite and shut it down and be far from a risk taker if he's hurting - thinking about that sleeve during practice).

More to the point, BB (and knowingly) just drove up Lamar's price- you can bet Lamar's agent is going to wave a piece of paper with that quote on it, under management's nose during negotiations.

The more expensive Lamar is, the more that franchise will hamstring itself in trying to keep a competitive roster.

For a team that's a cellar dweller just about every year, the Lions get rated much better than they should. This year they could be better than in the past, but that isn't really saying much.
