Brady reverted to his early days where he threw an deep redzone pick allowing the team back into the game. Had the Pats scored a TD, that game would've been out of reach for the Seahawks.

Wilson also bounced off Mayo as if he weren’t even there to convert a 3rd/Very Long during the 1st half; next play: 20+ yard TD pass. Mayo looked like a ****y on that tackle “attempt”, sorry not sorry.

And of course, that was also the game when the Error Repeater was born.

I wasn't a huge fan of Mayo. He's also not really in any conversation when it comes to the best Pats LB's. The excuse we hear when he is brought up was that he played on bad defenses. However, he had Wilfork upfront his entire career, had Seymour and Warren for a few years as well, but still wasn't an impact LB. His game reminds me of what Brian Cox said about Keith Brooking who was at the time leading the league in tackles. He said "he sucked" and many of his tackles were 10-20 yards downfield in the secondary. I don't think Mayo sucked, but he was a stat collector without much impact. He was also cooked by year 6.

You also counting on the other team to sh*t the bed also. We played a near perfect game, the Bengals were awful but still ended up having the ball in their hands with 3 minutes left with a chance to win the game.

It’s a tough way to live every week
I think if there is anything we should have learned from Sensei Belichickazumota, “if one does not make mistakes, the other will blink first”…

Hopefully AVP is beating that tape to death in the QB room this week and telling Brissett he needs to take those shots when they're wide-ass open, or even when they're just regular open and it's a sensible time to do it. Even if Brissett doesn't do it, the lesson will be seen, heard and hopefully absorbed by the other two QBs in the room.
Well said. We probably want Maye to listen up !!

I do agree to that. Always felt he got lots of tackles in our secondary.

Agree. Said this over the summer if Brissett plays well this season I could see him getting a pay day from someone. The giant's are going to move on from Jones.. they probably want a veteran bridge... he could see a nice pay day say he has 4,000 yards, 24 tds and 8 ints..
He's not throwing for 4K lol

Agree. He had resurgence in Seattle. I'm not sure he's 100% healthy. He is a mobile QB though...so we will need to spy him with Hawkins.. who I'm really liking as a player.
I think you can just play more zone than man rather than spying him. If he really starts running then you can switch to a spy.

Name the Patriots LBers better than him. I'm not saying he's the best but He's probably 5th-10th best (depending how break it down between OLB/ilb/edge).

Nelson
Hightower
Bruschi
Johnson
Buonicotti
Mayo
I'm sure I'm missing someone

Zone is dangerous against lockett and DK
....it's just to easy for them to move the ball and convert.. it's best they continue being a chamel defense and confusing gino.. man up on the WRs and spy gino with a safety.. if he breaks the pocket hit him.

All-pro, pro bowler.... I don't know about him not being good. Mayo was dam good LB... his career was shortened by injuries.

Mayo was playing LB for an entire garbage secondary. He was cooked by year 6 because he had as many tackles as a 8-10 year LB in just six years.

I get it if you don't think he's one of the best (for which there is an argument), but to say he sucks/is a stat collector is hilariously bad. He wasn't a stat collector. He was making up for what truly sucked back then.

You’re not wrong… But he was never, even at his peak, 8th-overall pick in the draft great either.

The guy was a literal coverage linebacker making up for the disgrace of a secondary we had. I would kill for a Mayo LB today. I am so lost on how this is even being considered lol. Does the Hot Take
Store need to issue a recall or some ****?

The only LB's on your list I saw play were Johnson, Bruschi and Hightower who both played on the outside and inside. Mayo would be below Bruschi and I wouldn't compare him to Hightower as they are different players.

I clearly never said he sucked.

Pats run defenses with Mayo as a full time starter:

2008: 18th allowing 107 yards per game and 5th in TD's allowing 8.
2009: 20th allowing 110 yards per game and 3rd in TD's allowing 6.
2010: 11th allowing 110 yards per game and 10th in TD's allowing 10.
2011: 17th allowing 117 yards per game and 19th in TD's allowing 13.
2012: 9th allowing 101 yards per game and 10th in TD's allowing 10.

I put him 6 and said I probably missed someone. Can you push him any lower than that?
