We. Have. Revis.

The last time we looked at this the potential 2014 cap savings was $3M-$3.5M.

In any case, the team leaked that they are not interested in restructuring Mankins and moving cap money forward.

As you implied, the team would like a clean choice in the next two off-seasons. Each year, the team will decide whether Mankins is worth $7M of new money. If not, Mankins will take a reduction in compensation or be cut, saving $7M for which they presumably could sign another top OG.

I honestly don't think they want to extend or make his cap number higher in 2015-2016

cut in 2015 save $7M
cut in 2016 save $7M

I agree that Collins is part of the answer. We still need more than Mayo, Hightower and Collins.

.....and was dominant in both.

Full agreement.

I really want Woodyard and am very disappointed that the Shaughnessy kid left and re-signed with Arizona.

Enough of Beaharnais and Bequette.

what the hell is wrong with bearnaise and baguettes? I love French food...

edit: um...oh...wait.................

Yes we can

Couldn't be happier to be wrong about Revis coming here. Then again with Schefter and JLC hinting at the NE connection all along, there was always a good chance he was signing here. The thing I forgot about is that Revis for some reason doesn't care about security/guaranteed money, only a high salary. That's what made this possible.

Well lets just get Peppers or Allen now and this will be a great FA.

I just hope Revis plays in the next AFCC game.

And while I never wish injuries on players who I don't hate as people, after Talib's questionable post-season no-shows, I sort of am hoping that he doesn't play.

And by the way -- Revis wants to be paid huge salaries, but is willing to forgo multi-year guarantees to get them. Hats off to him for that. He has all the money he needs for a nice lifestyle; taking the risky approach for money beyond that is appropriate.

Maybe Talib's big contract with the Broncos was Elway's way of rewarding him for taking himself out of the AFC championship game.

I already admitted I'm a mega *******. Shall I flog myself as well?
Well, people have been flogging themselves on this forum for several hours now, so why should you be any different?

It's also funny how the Broncos fans..same as the jets are downplaying the revis deal saying he wasn't that great last year and what not..betters CBs out there when 100% ect

I honestly was not expecting us to scoop up Revis. Really happy to have an upgrade over Talib. Also, Brandon Browner is visiting the Patriots thursday. Can you imagine how deep and strong our secondary would be with the addition of Revis AND Browner?

I'll agree with some of them though that we shouldn't be totally happy just yet. IF Wilfork and Mayo come back completely healthy, we are only a little better than the 2013 healthy defense. Not a bad thing, but I don't really think it's enough to stop Denver on a neutral field.

Still have work to do.

Sounds very similar to the way the Pats played in 2013. If they upgrade their pass rush rotation, this unit is deadly. Give Brady a vet WR and a TE like ASJ while upgrading the center position, and you've got a Super Bowl contender raring to go out and kick some serious ass.

Not really.

BB is known for tailoring schemes to a player's strength, unlike a certain Schiano who will go down in history as the coach who forced one of the best corners in NFL history to play zone.

Revis, IMHO was at his best in the cover 7 hybrid 46 scheme that Ryan ran (the man-under half, based on his father's 46).

I would not be surprised if BB borrows some of that where we fist/slice on Welker and double Thomas. The 46 cover 7 is great for aggressively attacking the underneath game. This will force Manning to stretch the field, something we know he is no good at, anymore.

Even with Talib in there, we didn't cheat McCourty into a position to do that.

With Revis in there, I think we'll see a lot more of that.

You disagreed with him didnt you?

I guess the mere act of questioning why only Wilfork's $11.6 million cap hit should be restructured and not also Mankin's $10.6 million cap hit causes DI to yell "troll"!

Odd, because it is a legitimate football question. Really don't understand why it necessitated a panicked namecalling, but I'm sure there's a reason.

The Patriots could use all the cap room they can get to sign more players after this Revis signing.

Ok, I am off the ledge. Funny how when he was wearing green, Revis wasn't that good. I just bought my ticket to the island. Hope it's worth the trip!

Interesting you bring that up. Those gameplans Rex used to throw at us were designed to take advantage of the Patriots' lack of outside pass game. Makes sense to use that same philosophy against Manning, who has trouble making those throws.

Following me around from thread to thread asking me is trolling, yes. If the two sides agree to an extension, it can happen. If they don't, it can't. You know this. You're just being an ass.

Definitely will be time to go duck hunting.

I'm sorry that Ras I got cut, imagine what would be Revis Island and Ras Island.

Still have work to do.

We didn't need a healthy defense to beat Denver at home. We needed a scheme.

Denver was missing JT in Foxboro and looked pedestrian on offense the entire game outside of Moreno, who most agree we allowed to have that game.

In 2014 they will be without Decker no matter what. Welker now can be considered a player which has a history of serious concussions and Welker can easily take out the likes of DT.

If Kelly, Wilfork, and Mayo stay healthy (which they all have made a habit of doing for the majority of their career), then "allowing" Denver to run on us will be difficult even if we tried to let them.

I may be the minority, but I'm not all that scared of Peyton Manning. Regardless of what happened in January, BB has his number and our defense shouldn't be nearly as beat up as it was the 2 times we played him.

The most important thing is getting HFA. That is entirely up for grabs, but we face the NFCN, AFCEx2 and AFCW, 3 of the weaker divisions in the NFL. HFA shouldn't be the most difficult thing to obtain.
