Problem? This is a good problem. It's not an absolute guarantee that he's still worth it. They landed a guy who now has to prove it. This is a $12m risk--which is good for the Patriots, not bad.
Damn straight it is a good problem. Some commenters here are "on dope".
Who would you rather have? (A) Talib who no matter how he plays or how much he sits out is guaranteed about 30 million dollars and guaranteed a job for about 4 years, and hasn't played a full season since 2009 OR (B) Revis who has no job at the end of 2014 and is looking to impress next year's market place that he is the best CB out there, and he has played a full 16 game season in 2013, 2011, 2010 for 13 games, 2009, 2008, 2007.
It would be great if we could have wrapped Revis up for a couple of years but things are rarely perfect. Revis wants to impress and he has chosen the Patriots to do that (the one year money helped). Bottom line, we now have one of the best CB's in the game AND he is extremely motivated to prove he is best AND he is durable. The Patriots actually have one of the best CB that has played for them in decades AND we may actually have have him for our biggest playoff games (unlike the last 2 seasons -- yes, a shot at Talib for his comments today).
BB did great here. He upgraded the CB spot yet did not expose the Patriots future cap health.
I can't wait to see how Revis fits in -- it will be interesting. Remember, this guy came from dysfunctional organizations. Now he will be playing among the most professional and winning atmospheres there are. Let's see if he takes to it, takes to BB's ways, takes to the Patriot way (the real one, not the made up media one). If he does, who knows, maybe BB will finally believe he has found a non QB that he will break the bank for. Not likely but it's a hope for those that can't be ok with 'one year'....
