Indeed. The various mediots thrive on creating narratives based on various perceptions that are easy to levearge thus monetize, rather than actual confirmed facts.
The one that gets me is we kept hearing from the media about Nelson Algolor, Thornton and Lil' Humphrey all through training camp, and who had the catch of the day. Then it came out who had the most catches and it was Meyers, who the media NEVER talked about. Maybe media reports aren't the complete story.

His contract is obviously an issue and he's been disgruntled all preseason, although I think the former was probably what scared teams away more than his play.
Let's not dismiss his subpar play last season, often impersonating a turnstile. His regression was clear.
Let's also not neglect his extensive injury history which has carried into this preseason.
Then there is perception. The team that sees Wynn day in/day out has demoted him to RT.
Finally, 'attitude'. His lack of commitment in off seasons is indisputable as is his laissez-faire efforts this preseason during the few days he suited up and appeared on the main practice field.
-----------------------------------------------
No doubt many conflicting thoughts are darting about in his head including the self-serving guidance of his agent who suddenly represents a RT and not a LT going into his final contract year.
Navigating contract years and taking care of business is difficult enough and on top of all his stacked-up issues listed above, Wynn no doubt is distressed by the coaching/O line flummox that will directly influence how he is perceived in the FA market in the spring.
---------------------------------------------------
It will be interesting to see how Wynn operates going forward.
Will he commit to the team in likely his final year in NE?
Will he battle through adversity to stay on the field or take the Jimmy G approach?

Then there's Brown..........

If he doesn't, not great on his part considering the club picked up his option. But I agree, he needs to be on board since they're not exactly overly deep at that position.

I’m really surprised he was the guy that they picked - not Judon, for instance. They had an easy “out” on his contract at the end of this year if they wanted to; now, the dead cap charges would likely lock him in another year. I mean, I’m happy to hear the coaching staff is clearly impressed with his preseason performance, but I would have chosen someone who’s actually proven it in the regular season on this team like Judon, whereas Smith hasn’t done so yet.
True. Maybe it is because Smith is a full 3 years younger. Clearly the Pats are expected an upswing in production from him. And, clearly BB considers a good TE (or better yet two) as something that generates mismatches. In the early forum days the standing joke had to do with all of the TEs the Pats drafted (or over drafted). That was until Gronk came along and showed everybody why.

That's certainly true in some cases. I try and watch the press conferences after I read something since most of the time, things are taken out of context. But as I said, after watching that, he didn't look/sound happy. Obviously, that's just my opinion which I'm aware doesn't amount to much.

BB has always loved him a good TE. Not just Gronk. Watson, Coates, and before that in the Giants days, Bavaro. It wasn't a big surprise to me that he followed up the two 3rd round rookie TEs by spending big in FA to bring in Henry and Smith. Yet I think we're seeing a shift. Yes, Jones was kept, but that is mostly cap management to me. What was more interesting was they were willing to put Asiasi on the waiver wire since they often kept 3 TEs. Also, no FB on the roster. I think it's clear they're going to a lighter/faster offensive scheme with the zone blocking, rather than the smashmouth up the middle scheme they have been using.

I watched his press conference during camp - he didn't look (or sound) happy. I get how things can be taken out of context elsewhere, but even that was my impression when I watched/listened to him.

I had the same feeling. But i would not jump to conclusion its the contract (which unlike many other players is fully guaranteed).
If there's bad blood vs BB then its prob about position - RT is his weakest position and can also weaken his market next year.

He has many personal reasons to not look/sound happy. If i would be mostly rehabbing from injuries and barely practice & being consequentially out of form & falling further behind expectations - ahead of big season (contract year) id be pretty down too.

Agree with your take on this. He is his own worst enemy, though. Absent for OTAs, when he does show up, he is either inactive in practice, or
red shirted. He needs to put his head down, go to work, and earn his contract, imho.

I don't think it's contract related so much as the change. Although, moving to RT will cost him when he hits the market.

Probably nothing. Don’t know this guy but Lazar follows him.

Interesting. Their is a lot more talk in the last 24 hours of him going to the Bills.

Nice avatar, Ian...your son is bigger than you. Nice bodyguard!
Yeah, he's since shot past me a couple of more inches. That photo was from quite a while ago

Thank you for the soap opera perspective.

Pats heading to Miami a few days early... get used to the heat/humidity... think they have done this before

Didn't they do this for the Denver / Mexico City combo a few years ago? Got to Denver early, then flew to Mexico City... stayed in the thin air. IIRC that worked pretty well.

Or Wynn might not like public speaking, lots of people don't like it, and he is forced to do it. So he looks and sounds unhappy, which he is, but not with the Pats or his $10M salary or his future prospects, but simply unhappy about being forced to stand in front of people. Players are all different. Marshawn Lynch didn't like going to the podium either. It happens. Maybe there is nothing to see here.
