Legacy as GOAT is cemented. Exactly what that legacy is when all is said and done is still being written.
As far as Belichick and Brady go though I think they just always have the mind set that the most important game of their careers is "the next one".

I told a friend after the AFCCG collapse of 2006-2007 that I just wanted one more.

    He said "no, two."

I figured #4 would silence haters who discounted the first 3 due to a camera

location issue. I still can't believe they pulled off #5, and #6 in the next 2-3 years

seems entirely possible, if not probable. We should have no issues attracting free

agents next month. Yep, this is great. Terrible hangover, but I will go rewatch

    the game now.

I want to see the Patriots win a Superbowl by a 1980's style blowout.
    I know... I am greedy...

Troy Brown (NO in the HOF)
    JR Redmond
Mc Ginnist (Not in the HOF)

Lawyer Milloy (traded two years later)

#1 was the batter in the KitchenAid. Great for licking the bowl, but still no cake.
    #2 was the cake. Yummy.
#3 was the icing between the layers of the cake. Yummier.
#4 was the icing on top of the cake. Yummiest.
#5 was the cherry on top of the icing.

#6 would be...a whole new cake. Only, this one comes with icing and cherry already in place.

Will they be motivated of this extremely difficult task: unbeaten regular and post season?

    I hope so!

That will be a toast to Shula. ;)

If only the giants would make the SB more often. That would have already happened.

    BTW....

A 6th SB win would mean that Brady was tied with the entire Steelers franchise for the most in the NFL.

And with 32 teams in the league.

In the 60's, Lombardi/Starr also won 5 NFL championships together for the Packers, but the league was about half the size it is today. It was before the Modern Era.

History alone will motivate the Pats to win as many SBs as they are able, whatever it is. Assuming Goodell and the greedy owners do not ruin the NFL, someone else in the future will be in a run for most SB wins, so make it as hard as possible to break.

When is everyone else going to realize this much hating on the Pats is like giving them HGH? TB and BB denies it, but we know BB posts opponents trash talk in the locker room to motivate them. I'm going to predict the end of this run will be when they finally get more respect.

If for no other reason, they want to look back and say they gave it everything they had.

6-2 is better than 5-2. I want 6. Especially because I still feel that 4 with 19-0 included is worth more than 5.

Five has cemented the legacy. Six would just make it that much harder for someone to surpass him.

I like six because that's how many Jordan had, as someone mentioned above. It's always nice to be on the same level as Jordan. If Brady and Jordan both have that many, then I could see six rings becoming the standard or become some sort of hallowed number.

(Obviously Russell had many more than that but that's a different discussion).

They have already more than enough to cement their legacy as one of the all time best.. I would say if there is one thing missing from an otherwise masterful resume is a dominant victory where their dominance is never in doubt. Most people respect the ring count but there are still some that point to the fact that all those games could have been lost and their superiority in question despite the victories. But alas, it's all gravy from here on.

Its not really important, we have already surpassed everyone. Unless you want to count total Super Bowl wins. Then we could go for the tie with 1 more win.

Thats the NFL though, I mean if things went the Pats way in the Giant Super Bowls we could have won both and now we are talking about 7 Super bowl wins at this point with more seasons to spare.

BB and TB are already the GOATs at their respective positions. The current run is the greatest dynasty in the SB era as well.

But PIT still sits at 6 SBS, that is motivation to tie and eventually surpass them. They can hear the foot steps.

Leaving a legacy where you blow everyone out out the water from the current resume (which is already the very best)? As someone said in this thread, the most important game is the next one.

Not to mention they took roughly twice as many seasons to do it in and there were 60-75% as many teams in the league while they did it.
