They couldn't find another date with the counsellor? Or is the wife saying "prove how committed you are to this marriage by missing the draft".

Not ideal, but may be a demand to save his marriage... if he doesn't a separation/divorce might be a season long distraction....
Have confidence that he put into place what he wants to have happen on Day 3....
Perhaps he realized that saving his relationship is this important to him...
Not sure why he had to announce this, as he could have just said post draft that he had to take care or important family issues after the fact and had confidence in his staff on Day 3....

Vrabel, like Belichick, can only get heavily involved in a limited number of prospects. Remember when BB was watching tape of White during Day 2 in the post-draft video? BB obviously had not previously scouted White. Coaches don't have the time to review a large number of prospects. The 4th round strategy is pretty much baked in after the Day 2 wrap up, and then the draft guys like Cowden have to pick the guys and move around for the 5th to 7th rounds. Vrabel does not know the guys in the 5th to 7th rounds outside the local or 30 visits. You watched more Day 3 prospect tape than Vrabel.

It is definitely not ideal. Wolf scares the sh!t out of me too.
