Vikings decline Adrian Peterson's option, making him a FA

I don't condone it and i'd never do it. But growing up in my community, it was the norm.

Caning also normal in school when I was growing up. Not saying it's ok. Just normal for me.
As a kid in Rumania in the early 60's, I was occasionally caned by my grandmother who was my caregiver while my parents worked. One of my favorite memories is when I dove under a table as she swung at me and she broke the cane against the table

However, times and standards change, in this case for the better.

That must have been terrifying.

Look up Michael Fay in Singapore. He was American and vandalized property in Singapore. His punishment was caning. It became a huge deal in America and politicians intervene. It was just a common law in Singapore. That's why it's so safe there.

Singapore is one of my favorite places in the world and the best place to live in all of SE Asia, IMO.

It is. Just back for 2 weeks. It is however too expensive now.

Was that child abuse? My mum hit me worse than that. (i'm adding that this is not a joke. Just normal for me growing up in my community).

Anyway, it's more whether he'd take 2-3m a year. I'm sure some other team will pay him more though.

Just means you were abused too. Now you know.

Nab, I remember that story a few years back. But he wasn't 4.

.

Nope dont need him, a broken down 32 year old RB. Nope. Whats he played like 11 games in two or three years? Nope.

Separate conversation. But yeah, caning starts when you can walk. Ok, last joke. I'll stop.

Lol. I remembered a similar thing. My mum was chasing me. She swung and missed but hit her vase and that made her even more upset. Lol.

If the Pats were to consider signing a 30 year old running back whose best years are probably behind him to an affordable short-term contract, then why not just resign Blount?

Regardless how you feel about him he's a great fit here on the field.

No, he is not, in any way other than that he's good at running with a fullback. I addressed this in a different thread; I'll re-post it here.

Live in MN and see a lot of the Vikings. Adrian Peterson is/was a great player, but he's about as one dimensional as they come. Things he does well--break tackles, run fast, make highlight reel plays, occasionally put the team on his back.

Things he doesn't do well---block, catch, run out of the shotgun, run on any play in which he's not at full sprint when he gets the ball, think, play well in playoff games or in any clutch situation (where he's suddenly running into the backs of guards and fumbling all the time), be accountable in any way for anything he's ever done, think, not run a charity that's a giant scam and doesn't donate to the causes they claim to donate to, not use the funds from that charity to pay hookers for an orgy that he participated in with his own brother, think, stay healthy for long stretches, and think.

Do. Not. Want. Plus there's no way this man will come here unless he's getting paid a ton of money. He's past his prime, overpaid injury prone, and he's stupid. He's not going to be able to run the no huddle, or adjust on the fly to Brady audibles. No, no, no.

Belichick agrees with Jimmy Johnson that the main thing you can't fix is stupid. Adrian Peterson is a dunce. A broken down dunce with too much mileage who will almost certainly prioritize money and carries over winning.

"Things he doesn't do well---block, catch, run out of the shotgun"

You pretty much described:

Blount
Ridley
Green-Ellis

That's the system BB uses. An early down power RB & a receiving RB on passing/shotgun downs.

Clearly people here are very passionate on aspects of Peterson not related to football. On the field he's one of the greatest athletes & power RBs in the history of the NFL. IMO it's somewhat foolish to disparage a talent that great on the field because of off field past.

Just leave it at "AP is a turd. no thanks."

While there are some similarities to the running backs you mentioned, all of those players were as inexpensive as they come. Peterson isn't going to want to play 15 snaps a game. You neglected to quote the part about how he wilts in big games, consistently. Yes Blount fumbled in the Super Bowl, but AP has terrible games in big spots A LOT. The Patriots play in big games.

I cannot see him being able to run the no huddle. Blount has hands and is intelligent on the field. If he wants to take a massive pay slash and pay 20 plays a game, then he could possibly get his foot in the door. But he demands to play without practicing after he's missed multiple games. And miss multiple games he has, only playing in 20 of his last 48 possible games.

He's fun to watch when he's on, he can break tackles in the open field, he's a Hall of Fame player and a physical freak. I don't think it's a good idea to target him.

We can reach commonground that spending considerable cap on a RB and an injury probe one in Peterson is not a smart idea.

Don't think that dude deserves to play in the NFL. But beyond that, I think he's more or less done physically.

Make no mistake, when he's on, he's a DUDE. I just don't see it being a good fit. He allegedly is interested in the Giants, Tampa and Houston.

classic thing of a player who looks toast but hes a big name.

Child abuser, check

Wrong side of 30, check

Will be overpaid by foolish team other than Pats, check.

Too funny. As a kid, I was too willful. I had a similar moment. I used to get the wooden spoon cracked across my backside. One night as a five year old, I got the spoon (and it was well deserved, I am sure). The spoon split in half. I laughed my ass off. So did my mom. It was the last time I got the spoon, and the last time I did anything so mischievous for about 10 years after that.
