Very very late thread about CBS broadcast of Super Bowl

I know saying nice things about Dan Fouts is verboten on this board for some reason, but he would have been wildly entertaining in that 4th quarter.

as wildly entertaining as a guy who doesn't do any pregame work, and spends the entire game calling players by the wrong name, then spouting a bunch of gibberish, and finally causing most of the viewer base to ask themself "do i smell toast? am i having a stroke" before they remember, no wait its just a dan fouts game.

If you were actually watching CBS the evening of February 5, 2017, then I could well understand you being quite disappointed in your Super Bowl viewing experience.

We need to get vermiel to call pats games.... Its awesome baby!!

Dan Fouts is one of my least favorite announcers. I wish I had some specifics to add, but it's been awhile since I've listened to his commentary and I expect it's a defense mechanism I have that has blotted out most of what I think when I listen to him. I do remember that his rooting interest is typically anti-Patriots and often obvious.

For the most part, I like the various announcers. I root for Sean McDonough, but I don't really need to know where every player on the field went to school every game he announces. If he could keep the school references to about 5-10 over the game instead of 30+, I'd appreciate it.

Oh.. Lol

Yep , vitale. I dont know how i messed that one up.

Marv Albert was Classic calling those Pats beat downs on Jets* in 70s & 80s.

I find Sean McDonough extremely boring

Honestly, I have no complaints.

In fact, I still get chills when I hear Buck say 'This is a tie game!" when the ref announces the two point attempt was against Atlanta (and thus would be declined).

The reaction after the Edelman catch was great too.

I'm just glad they didn't talk about deflategate during critical fourth quarter drives like what happened in SB 49.

I'm surprised that Amendola didn't end up with a concussion after Edelman did the helmet to helmet head butt.

I'm curious to see how he does going forward. He spent his first season (the games I watched anyway, which wasn't all of them), acting mostly 'happy to be there', and letting Gruden ramble on about 'This Guy' way too much.

I always prefer NBC or CBS doing our games, but I had zero issue with FOX this SB. Still prefer the other 2.

Michaels and Collinsworth are my fav. Love Nance also, but Simms has to go.

ESPN does nothing for me. I know McDonough a local guy, but he's too boring.

Very true. when I watch that I do think 'damn, that's got to hurt....especially considering its from friendly fire'

Hopefully he was already having at 'out of body, zen like feeling' from tying the Super Bowl and didn't really feel it.

Had Collingsworth be doing the game, we'd have been hearing about the Falcons 3rd down holding penalty for the entire overtime.
...and the more likely than not illegal conspiracy by Brady and the team to manipulate balls and equipment and undermine the very foundation of Western Civilization and how shocking it is that they are allowed to walk around free, nevermind play football, when they should be locked up in prison forever in the name of common decency, for these repeated unprecedented violations which offend anyone's sense of sportsmanship and fair play, and they therefore have zero credibility in the United States or the world for that matter, and all their titles should be vacated and Wow! Chris is invited to appear on The View tomorrow morning, what an honor! And what? Second down? Who cares about the game, what I'm talking about is important and what everyone wants to hear; the Patriots don't even belong here, what a travesty, etc. etc. etc.

It's casual, man.

I was so wrapped up in what was taking place that I never heard a word they said. Hellen Keller could have called that game and I would still have loved every second of that last 20 minutes.

Yeah, I was explaining strategy to my daughter, and pretty much the clock and time were the crucial factors down the stretch...fortunately, Belichick drills the fundamentals of that stuff into the guys' heads so we were able to pull it out.
