Told a bears friend this was Trubisky's make or break year to draft a QB next year or not...

Pretty sure a full year is too much -- that should have been the last they need to see.

There were available QBs all over the place this year, and the Bears passed. Maybe there's something in Trubisky that I'm missing, and tonight was just a week before the great and glorious arrival of his talent and game.

Packers Bears game had less points than Super Bowl LIII. There's a silver lining. Hehehe!

Went back to look at the 2017 draft where Trubisky, Mahomes, and Watson were drafted. Mahomes was drafted #10. Of the nine teams who drafted before them, 6 of the teams have subsequently fired a coach and/or GM.

1. CLE – Took Myles Garrett. GM Sashi Brown fired later that year.
2. CHI – Took Mitchell Trubisky. Coach John Fox fired after that season
3. SF – Took Solomon Thomas. BUST. Had committed to Garrapolo. No changes (new regime).
4. JAX – Took Leonard Fournette. BUST. No changes.
5. TEN – Took Corey Davis. BUST. Coach John Fox fired after that season.
6. NYJ – Took Jamal Adams. Coach Todd Bowles and GM Mike MacCagnan fired after 2018 season
7. LAC – Took Mike Williams. BUST. No changes.
8. CAR – Christian McCaffery. GM Dave Gettlemen fired after that season.
9. CIN – John Ross. BUST. Coach Marvin Lewis fired after 2018 season.
10. KC – Patrick Mahomes

Rooting for da Bears...

Mrs. Rover earlier today: “Are you watching that game tonight?”

Me: “Nah, I don’t think so.”

Moments ago...

Me: “Um... you know what... I... uh...”

Mrs. Rover: “I knew it.”

Oldrover, good calls with the thread title nicknames

This spot was an obvious Cle@Ne window lined up perfectly... and the nfl pulled a Trubisky. Bravo Roger.
It would never have happened. I think they wanted the Browns first NBC game in forever to be at home to capture the momentum. Kinda like how Lions fans were jacked in their first MNF game in a long time. Caused a bunch of false starts on the Bears.

Are false stats something like fake news?

Did Rashan Gary play any snaps on defense?

Did Rodgers seem to be noticeably slower and also seem to have lost a lot of arm strength? Or was it just my perspective? Seemed like he was in quicksand, and the velocity wasn’t there...many normal completions for him were broken up. I’m wondering if “the cliff” we’ve been hearing about for years with TB12 is actually approaching with Rodgers...like maybe a year or two left? Or maybe he as just shaking off rust. But it stood out to me.

Week 1
No preseason snaps (injury and the crap field in Winnipeg)

So, too soon to tell, but he's been trending downward over the past couple of years, so it's definitely something to keep an eye on.

Da Bores!

Regards,
Chris

Wow! What a crappy game that was.

Honestly part of me is glad this game happened. Anyone who thinks the Bears have a real shot to win needed this wake up call (including me). They suck on offense. Their QB is okay at times but he will never be consistent enough. As long as you don't turn it over against them they can hold you to 10 points and you still have a good chance to win.

And this game in no way should make anyone a believer in GB. The NFC is disappointing. A lot of very questionable teams that have fatal flaws along with some dark horses who have yet to prove they belong in the conversation. I can't pick one team that i feel is a true contender in the NFC.

Say when you will about the Pats easily schedule but at least they will need to get by KC. They are a for sure threat to win it all unlike any of these NFC teams.

He was the closest defender to Trubisky on the interception, but I don’t think he actually affected the throw.

Dear Dude who's writing a lot of stuff as if it has certain, real, and lasting, validity, particularly about teams that haven't even played yet,

It was the first game of the entire season. The only thing to take out of it as certain is that the Packers are 1-0 while the Bears are 0-1. Everything else it just the product of one first week game, and subject to change starting pretty much immediately.

This. As Pats fans we should know that the teams we saw today will be vastly different than what they will be after a few games. With that said, WTF was the Bears staff thinking? Trubisky is not an elite QB that has full command of the offense and is ready to play. He needed preseason reps... a lot of them. What’d he get? None?

Yes and no. While it is a strong reaction it is not an over reaction. This game was a reality check after 6 months of talking ourselves into what these teams could be. Trubisky may have a bunch of good and even a few great games this year. But this game gave everyone a big reminder that he just isn't good. That last year was his year 2. The year he was suppose to come in to his own. That year he had more bad than good games.

Clearly this is the player he actually is and we will not see the rare year 3 jump.

This is a fatal flaw people who picked the Bears to win need to face. Mitch has yet to string together 3 good games in his career in the regular season. Why would he be able to do it in the playoffs? No way.

As for GB they showed yet again for us all to see that on offense they are highly limited. Outside of Rodgers and Adams they have little going for them and a decent D can take that away.

How good their D is remains to be seen but it probably needs to be near Bears level to make them a contender and i doubt anyone really believes they are close to that.
